RUSSIA INCREASES NUMBER OF SANCTIONED UKRAINIAN COMPANIES TO 84

The number of Ukrainian or Ukrainian-related companies that have come under Russian sanctions has increased from 75 to 84.
Corresponding decree No. 153 of February 11, 2021 with amendments to decree No. 1300 of 2018 was published on the official Russian Internet portal of legal information.
According to the Russian government, on February 12, for the first time, restrictive measures were imposed against the following legal entities: Donmar LLC (Odesa), Cranship LLC (Odesa), Maxima Metal Service LLC (Dnipro), PJSC Poltava Automobile Aggregate Plant, Solar steelconstruction LLC (Dnipro), Transship LLC (Odesa), Transship Balk subsidiary, Transship-Service subsidiary, Kirgan Holding SA (Panama).

UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT: COUNTRY WILL BE REPRESENTED AT HIGHEST LEVEL AT WORLD EXHIBITION EXPO IN DUBAI

Ukraine will participate in the world exhibition Expo-2020 in Dubai and will be represented at a high level, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the Emirates News Agency WAM.
“We simply cannot miss such an important world event as Expo 2020. I would like to thank the UAE leadership for the fact that, despite all the difficulties associated with COVID-19, the construction of the Ukrainian pavilion was completed in December last year, and internal work is underway there. At the World Expo in Dubai, our country will be represented at the highest level,” Zelensky said in an interview with the Emirates News Agency WAM, published on the website of the President’s Office of Ukraine on Saturday.
Zelensky noted that the architectural image of the pavilion of Ukraine embodies the idea of an ear of wheat, which will be 15 meters high.
“Wheat is an important symbol for Ukrainians, and the yellow color on our flag symbolizes the wheat field and readiness to contribute to world food security,” the president of Ukraine stressed.

UKRAINE’S AMBASSADOR TO CHINA DIES

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Serhiy Kamyshev has died, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
“Sad news… Ukraine’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Serhiy Kamyshev has died at the age of 64. A well-known professional, he made an outstanding contribution to the development of Ukraine’s relations with the countries of Asia and the Middle East in the many years of his diplomatic work. Cherished memory and sincere condolences to his loved ones,” Kuleba said on Twitter on Sunday evening.

MACRO SUMMARY OF UKRAINIAN ECONOMY IN DEC 2020 – JAN 2021

The World Bank revised upward its forecast for Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2021 to 3%, while early October it estimated the prospects for recovery to be twice as modest – at 1.5%.
The Ministry for the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine estimates the drop in Ukraine’s gross domestic product (GDP) in January-March 2021 at 3%, according to the Economic Activity Review posted on the ministry’s website.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) estimated the fall of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2020 at 4.4% and kept the forecast for its growth by 4.2% in 2021, according to the NBU website.
The implementation of the National Economic Strategy 2030 will allow Ukraine to double its GDP in 10 years, the head of the working group on developing the strategy, Kyrylo Kryvolap, has said.
The deficit of Ukraine’s foreign trade in goods in January-November 2020 decreased 58.6% compared to January-November 2019, to $3.897 billion from $9.417 billion, the State Statistics Service reported.
The growth of consumer prices in Ukraine in 2020 accelerated to 5% from 4.1% in 2019, being in the center of the inflation target of the National Bank of Ukraine, the State Statistics Service has reported.
