According to Interfax-Ukraine, construction of special high-capacity power plants for water supply facilities is underway in the capital; one-third of the work has already been completed, and the project is scheduled to be finished by the end of the year, according to the Kyivvodokanal press service.
“Overall, in terms of the water supply system, 27 megawatts of backup power have been secured,” the statement, published on Facebook on Saturday, notes.
According to the company, small- and medium-capacity water supply facilities have already been equipped with generators. At the same time, approximately 40 MW of capacity is currently under development as part of the construction of power plants for facilities with high energy consumption. This project has been designated a priority.
“Kyivvodokanal” also drew the attention of residents of high-rise buildings to the specifics of water supply to upper floors: “Water pressure on upper floors is usually maintained by additional booster stations, which take time to start up and will not operate in the absence of electricity. Such booster stations are not within the scope of responsibility of “Kyivvodokanal.”
