Brokbusiness insurer (Kyiv) in 2020 collected UAH 197.580 million of gross premiums, which is 6.48% less than a year earlier, the rating agency Expert-Rating reported on the confirmation of the financial stability rating of the insurer at the level “uaAA” on the national scale.
According to the agency, part of insurance premiums belonging to reinsurers increased by 2.59%, and their share in the structure of the company’s gross premiums increased by 0.78 percentage points, to 8.86%.
Brokbusiness made insurance payments and compensations in the amount of UAH 68.720 million, which is 24.35% less than in 2019. The level of payments of the insurer in 2020 decreased to 34.78%.
The company’s net worth as of December 31, 2020 increased by 10.03%, to UAH 91.2 million, the insurer’s liabilities increased by 6.49%, to UAH 138.21 million, the amount of cash and cash equivalents on the company’s accounts rose by 28.93%, to UAH 100.02 million.
The rating agency notes that the activity of Brokbusiness over 2020 was profitable, while in 2019 the company received net and operating losses. In particular, the financial result from the operating activities of the insurer for 2020 amounted to UAH 11.610 million, and its net profit to UAH 4.330 million.
As reported, Brokbusiness has been operating in the Ukrainian insurance market for over 25 years and is represented in all regions of Ukraine. The insurer has 39 licenses for voluntary and compulsory types of insurance.
In 2021, DTEK Energo intends to allocate UAH 2.3 billion for current, medium and overhaul repairs of power units of its TPPs, the press service of the company said.
“This will reduce the accident rate of equipment, which was observed in this heating season due to the very high load at TPPs, and ensure stable operation in the power system,” the company said.
In March, four power units out of 29 planned for 2021 have already entered scheduled repairs. The task of workers of repair enterprises and power engineers of Burshtynska, Dobrotvorska, Kurakhivska and Luhanska TPPs is to repair technological and electrical equipment, heating surfaces of boilers, on which fistulas often appear, and also to diagnose metal structures.
In the spring, DTEK Energo is planning another seven ongoing and one major overhaul at its TPPs.
According to DTEK Energy CEO Ildar Saleev, due to the fact that the peak of the heating season in 2020/2021 has already passed, the load on the units has decreased and there is no need to work with a full set of equipment, the company has started a repair campaign to prepare for next winter.
“This winter has once again shown the need for shunting thermal generation by DTEK, which again lent a shoulder to the power system. The load of this heating season was 50% higher than the previous one, as well as, unfortunately, the accident rate. Due to the repair of the nuclear power plant, our stations worked with their full complement and promptly responded to the needs of the power system. If one power unit went into emergency repair, then we quickly compensated for the need by launching another,” he said.
At the same time, Saleev said that in order to stop the trend of accidents, it is necessary to stabilize the situation on the energy market, solve the problem of accumulated debts, and provide financial opportunities for generating facilities for repairs.

The volume of marketable output of Kyivsky cardboard paper mill (Obukhiv, Kyiv region), a leader in Ukraine’s pulp and paper industry in terms of production and sales, increased by 14.4% in January and February 2021, year-over-year, to UAH 958.24 million.
According to UkrPapir data provided to Interfax-Ukraine, in particular, the factory increased the output of corrugated packaging by 4.1%, to 36.04 million square meters, but it was not enough to retain the leadership (won back in January), which was returned by Rubizhne cardboard and packaging mill (along with its subsidiary Trypilsky packing plant).
The production of base paper for sanitary and hygienic products increased by 3%, to 14,100 tonnes, and the production of toilet paper in rolls remained at the 2020 level with 72.7 million pieces.
The highest growth rate (but slowed down by 11 p.p. compared to January 2021) was shown by the production of cardboard, increasing by 27.3%, to 36,400 tonnes, including boxboard by 56.2%, to 13,700 tonnes, container (including paper for corrugation) by 14.5%, to 22,700 tonnes.
According to the association, in general, enterprises in the industry in January and February increased the production of corrugated packaging by 1%, to 103.9 million square meters of paper and cardboard by 11.4%, to 136,900 tonnes, toilet paper in rolls by 6.4%, to 118.9 million pieces.
Kyivsky cardboard paper mill is one of the largest enterprises in Europe for the production of cardboard and paper products with a staff of about 2,200 people. The products are sold to almost 700 companies in Ukraine, a number of CIS countries and far abroad.
Kyiv-based Omega insurance company ended 2020 with a net profit of UAH 33.3 million, while it ended 2019 with a net loss of UAH 4.3 million, follows from the agenda of the shareholders’ meeting released in the information disclosure system of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine.
It is noted the company’s retained loss of amounted to UAH 94.639 million over 2020, while UAH 168.5 million in 2019.
The company also said as of December 31, 2020, its assets increased by 7.2%, to UAH 575.443 million, cash and their equivalent by 4.8 times, to UAH 43.579 million, equity by 7.6%, to UAH 491.627 million, while accounts receivable decreased by 17.3%, to UAH 93.820 million.
The company’s long-term liabilities increased by 9.8%, to UAH 66.861 million over 2020, current ones decreased by 12.3%, to UAH 16.955 million.
Omega insurance company was established in 1994 and operates on the basis of 25 licenses.
