Turkey supports NATO expansion

Turkey, as the NATO summit in Vilnius showed, will continue to be a strong partner of the alliance in addressing common security challenges, including the geographical expansion of the bloc, said Fahrettin Altun, head of the Turkish presidential administration’s communications department.

“Turkey is actively engaged in confronting emerging challenges by supporting NATO’s strategic orientation. In the future, Turkey will continue to be a staunch ally and a crucial partner in the alliance’s new initiatives,” he wrote in an article for Middle East Eye magazine.

He added: “Turkey believes that the expansion of the alliance is the key to lasting peace and stability in the world.”

The official clarified, however, that Turkey supports NATO’s geographical expansion “not against a specific country, but to turn the alliance into a comprehensive security organization that will help achieve stability.”

Alutn said that Turkey, which controls the geographic land bridge between East and West and the waterways to the Black Sea, “it is crucial to be in the Western camp.”

“Turkey’s long and deep commitment to NATO has protected Europe. Its continued engagement is vital to the security of the continent,” he wrote.

The official assured that “Ankara will continue to be NATO’s partner in addressing the alliance’s common challenges,” adding that this will be done “in accordance with its national security requirements.”

Hungarian President Katalin Novak to visit Ukraine in August

Hungarian President Katalin Novak has accepted an invitation from the Ukrainian government and will attend the upcoming Crimean Platform meeting on August 23 in Kiev, Hungarian news portal Telex reported on Sunday, citing information from the communications directorate of the presidential Sándor Palace.

“This also means that the Hungarian head of state may once again meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in person,” the report said.

Shandor’s Palace added that Novak will visit the Transcarpathian region before traveling to Kiev, where he will take part in the King St. Stephen’s feast on August 20 together with ethnic Hungarians living there.

Hungary was represented at the 2022 Crimea Platform by State Secretary Péter Staray, responsible for energy supply and security policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He stated Hungary’s unwavering support for Ukraine and that Hungary’s main goal was peace.

The publication notes that since then “several things have complicated Hungary-Ukraine diplomatic relations,” including the fact that Novak has not signed a declaration welcoming Ukraine’s new ambassador to Hungary, Fyodor Szandor, since March. “Until this happens, Fedor Szandor, who serves as a volunteer soldier and also teaches at Uzhhorod National University, will not be able to hold his post,” the report said.

“Telex” reports that this week another Hungarian publication “Index”, citing a diplomatic source close to the president, wrote that Novak is postponing the signing of the statement on the acceptance of the new Ukrainian ambassador because he allegedly has not been able to contact Zelensky for several months.

The Hungarian president met with the Ukrainian head of state for the last time on November 26, 2022.

The festival will bring together top management of enterprises, owners and managers of agricultural enterprises, owners and managers of restaurants, pubs, hotel and restaurant complexes, wine and cheese producers, professional sommeliers, opinion leaders, and representatives of specialized associations.

The event will feature a lecture hall where wine experts will present important and relevant topics for Ukrainian winemaking. Speakers of the event:

Communication between the government and producers to solve them” with Igor Vishtak, Director of the Crop Production Department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, heads of specialized associations, owners and managers of wineries.

The proceeds will be donated to the needs of the Armed Forces. Last year’s festival raised UAH 74,500, which was used to buy a car for snipers.

We invite everyone: from craft winemakers and cheese makers to large distributors and manufacturing plants, from experts, sommeliers, winemakers to connoisseurs of quality wine and cheese.
