The Kyivstar mobile operator at the end of December 2021 expanded its radio network coverage in seven regions of Ukraine by switching on 4G/LTE technology at another 26 base stations.
According to the press service of the company, as a result, residents of 49 settlements with a total population of 25,000 people will be able to use high-speed mobile Internet. These are the settlements of Lopatyntsi, Petrani, Malyshevka (Vinnytsia region), Budysche, Liubystok, Shampaniya (Cherkasy region), Krasny Kut, Toretske, Novoandriyivka (Donetsk), Yabluneve, Tuzhyliv, Dubove (Kyiv region), Zatyshne, Yakovlivka, Rzhavets (Kharkiv region).
Today the 4G Kyivstar network operates on the territory of 16,000 settlements of Ukraine.
“The company ends 2021 with high rates of 4G coverage in Ukraine. Already more than 90% of our compatriots can use access to new mobile technologies and get more benefits from high-quality communications,” director for regulatory support at Kyivstar Oleksandr Kohut said.
The telecoms operator plans to continue building new mobile networks and will focus on covering highways with 4G communications. In 2021, the company accelerated the construction of base stations along the key highways Kyiv-Kharkiv, Kyiv-Odesa, Kyiv-Lviv, Reshetylivka-Dnipro. To complete this project, the company invested in the construction of 33 new base stations and in the re-equipment of another 50 base stations. To date, the project for covering key roads with 4G communications is almost 90% completed.
“The digitalization of Ukraine requires the attraction of huge investments. It is for this purpose that a memorandum was signed between the government of Ukraine and mobile operators at the investment forum in the city of Mariupol in 2019, which provides for the establishment of transparent and predictable regulation and limitation of fiscal burden on mobile operators. In particular, a moratorium in increasing the key industry tax – rent for the use of radio frequency resources. We hope that in 2022 the relevant bill will be introduced by the government and supported by the parliament,” he added.
Kyivstar notes that from 2018 to today, the operator has invested more than UAH 20 billion in Ukraine – in the construction of LTE networks, the purchase of licenses, and the improvement of the quality of communication. Thanks to this, the number of subscribers using high-speed mobile Internet in 2021 increased by 32% – up to 12 million.
The mobile network operator Kyivstar in September activated 4G technology at 75 base stations, as a result, 83,000 more Ukrainian residents in 132 settlements are able to access the company’s high-speed mobile Internet.
The press service of the operator reported on Monday that in particular, the technology was activated in the following settlements: Verkhniy Luzhok, Yasenytsia-Zamkova, Khatky (Lviv region), Tochylove, Novoheorgiyivka, Topaly (Odesa region), Shevchenkove, Kiyliv, Somkova Dolyna (Kyiv region), Liubar, Stryzhivka, Ivankivtsi (Zhytomyr region).
The company said that in the second quarter of 2021, Kyivstar invested about UAH 1.5 billion in the development of new communication technologies, which made it possible to significantly expand the territory of the 4G network. Due to this, the number of subscribers who used high-speed mobile Internet increased during this period by 32.3%, and the consumption of megabytes per subscriber increased by 23.6%.
To date, 10.3 million people use 4G communication in the Kyivstar network.
LTE technology in the Kyivstar network has been activated at almost 18,000 base stations.
By 2022, the operator plans to cover 90% of the country’s population with 4G.
In March 2021, mobile operator lifecell expanded its 4G network coverage in 661 more settlements of Ukraine with a population of more than 358,000 people.
According to the operator’s statement on Wednesday, in particular, in March the lifecell network was expanded in 655 towns with a population of up to 5,000 people and in six cities with a population of up to 25,000 people in different regions of Ukraine.
The operator also analyzed the consumption of data traffic in March: lifecell subscribers using 4G consumed 82% more mobile Internet traffic compared to the same period in 2020.
At the same time, the total volume of used data traffic in the operator’s network in March increased by 49% on an annual basis.
“One of the main reasons for the traffic growth is the expansion of coverage in the 900 MHz range, which became possible after the operators carried out refarming of the radio frequency spectrum in this range. This made it possible for residents of rural areas and small towns to use high-speed mobile Internet,” lifecell said.
Kyiv became the leader among settlements in terms of consumption of mobile Internet traffic in March in the category of cities with a population of more than 1 million, and then it is followed by Odesa, Kharkiv and Dnipro.
In cities with a population of up to 1 million people, Lviv is in the lead, and with a population of up to 500,000 people – Cherkasy.
The number of voice calls did not change compared to March 2020.
The mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine during the first quarter of 2021 launched a high-speed mobile Internet network in more than 550 settlements of Ukraine.
According to the company’s press service on Thursday, to date, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Ternopil, Volyn, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Kherson, Poltava, Cherkasy and Lviv regions are among the top ten regions in terms of 4G network speed.
Among the regional centers, the “fastest” cities were ranked as follows: Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Kherson, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhia and Cherkasy.
Vodafone Ukraine is the second largest mobile network operator in Ukraine.
Mobile operator Kyivstar has increased its 4G (LTE) network coverage in all regions of Ukraine and connected 815 more settlements to new mobile technologies.
As the company’s press service said on Friday, for this the operator has activated the technology of high-speed data transmission (LTE) at 452 base stations.
Thus, in the southern regions of Ukraine, 4G coverage has been increased on the territory of 316 settlements, in Dnipropetrovsk region – 97, Donetsk and Luhansk regions – 81, in the western regions – in 238, and in the central regions – in 83 settlements.
The report said that in the first quarter of 2021, Kyivstar invested more than UAH 1 billion in the development of new communication technologies, which made it possible to significantly increase the coverage area of the 4G network.
As of the end of April 2021, Kyivstar has installed more than 15,500 base stations in Ukraine, on which LTE (4G) technology is activated. As a result, more than 87% of the Ukrainian population can use access to 4G services in the operator’s network.
The company continues to build new mobile networks so that 90% of the population will have access to 4G by 2022.
The mobile operator lifecell in April expanded the coverage of high-speed mobile Internet of 4G standard in 674 settlements in all regions of Ukraine.
According to the operator’s report, in general, as of the end of April, 10,745 settlements were connected to the 4G network by lifecell, where a total of more than 27.7 million people live.
In April, lifecell network was expanded in 674 settlements, of which 667 settlements with a population of up to 5,000 and seven settlements – up to 25,000 people.
“In April, the average use of data traffic per data subscriber was 12.4 GB. This figure increased by 22% compared to the same period in 2020. The 4G subscribers increased the average monthly use of mobile Internet by 20%, to 10.8 GB,” the operator said.
As of the end of April 2021, the leaders in the use of lifecell mobile Internet were:
– up to 5,000 people – Dryzhba (Yampil district, Sumy region), Baturyn (Chernihiv region) and Bibrka (Sambir district, Lviv region);
– up to 25,000 people – Koziatyn (Vinnytsia region), Kamianka (Cherkasy region) and Zdolbuniv (Rivne region);
– up to 50,000 people – Irpin, Vyshneve and Fastiv (Kyiv region);
– up to 100,000 people – Brovary (Kyiv region), Uman (Cherkasy region) and Boryspil (Kyiv region);
– up to 500,000 people – Chernihiv, Vinnytsia and Cherkasy;
– million-person cities – Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv.
At the same time, in April the volume of voice calls in the lifecell network increased slightly by 3% compared to April 2020.
