British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons announced that she is staying in Kyiv.
“I am staying in Kyiv and continue to work there with a core team. The embassy remains operational,” she said on Twitter on Saturday morning.
At the same time, the ambassador attached a message stating that British citizens who are in Ukraine “should leave Ukraine by commercial means.”
U.S. President Joe Biden intends to appoint Bridget Brink, who currently represents Washington in Slovakia, as the country’s ambassador to Ukraine, CNN said on Monday.
The appointment will take place when the Ukrainian side gives formal confirmation, the television channel said.
The United States has not had a permanent ambassador to Ukraine since 2019. At the moment, Kristina Kvien serves as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.
Brink has been representing the United States in Slovakia since August 2019. She served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs from 2015 to 2018. She also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassies in Uzbekistan (2014-2015) and Georgia (2011-2014).
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed decree No.13/2022 on the appointment of a new Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania.
“To appoint Petro Ivanovych Beshta as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Lithuania,” the president said in the document released on its website.
Israeli diplomat Mykhailo Brodsky, who was appointed the new ambassador of Israel to Ukraine, presented copies of his credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Senyk.
“Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Mykhailo Brodsky presented copies of his credentials to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Dmytro Senyk. The sides confirmed their mutual commitment to cooperation and partnership,” the Israeli diplomatic mission said in a statement posted on Twitter.
Earlier, it was reported new Israeli ambassador to Ukraine Mykhailo Brodsky arrived in the country. His appointment as Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine was approved by the Israeli government in July 2021.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey.
Relevant decree No. 336/2021 of July 30 was published on the website of the head of state.
“To appoint Bodnar Vasyl Myronovych as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey,” the decree says.
Bodnar has been serving as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine since November 2017. In 2013-2015, he was an adviser to the Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Turkey, in 2015-2017 – the Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul, the representative of Ukraine to the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Enin received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine Kim Heejoon.
“The Deputy Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine and expressed hope for further development and strengthening of Ukrainian-Korean relations,” the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Enin also acquainted the Korean diplomat with the Crimean Platform initiative, designed to unite the efforts of Ukraine and international partners in the de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea, urging them to join its practical implementation.
In particular, Enin and the ambassador agreed on the priority steps for the preparation of the Partnership Strategy of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea for 2021-2025, intensification of high-level political dialogue, revitalization of inter-parliamentary ties, interaction within the framework of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Korean Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
“The parties agreed on the need for a fuller use of the existing potential of bilateral economic relations, an increase in the inflow of Korean investments in the production sectors of the Ukrainian economy, the implementation of joint projects. In the opinion of Yevhen Enin, special attention should be paid to the promotion of innovative projects related, in particular, to production, storage and the transportation of “green” hydrogen, the introduction of digital transformations, electric vehicles,” the Foreign Ministry reported.
The Deputy Minister and the Ambassador also discussed joint events in the context of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Korea in 2022.
