Kness Group, a large EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractor in Ukraine, plans to build around 500 MW of capacities of solar power plants in 2019 for various investors, boosting the volume of projects implemented by the company to 1 GW, Kness Group co-founder Yevhen Didichenko said on Thursday during the discussion devoted to the renewable energy in details organized by Golaw law firm.
Didichenko spoke in favor of adopting a law on green auctions, adding that investors will be interested in bidding and receive guaranteed government support for 20 years. According to him, the cost of building solar power plants in the world is decreasing at a higher than expected rate, so the current tariff for the sale of electricity generated by solar power plants is somewhat overestimated.
At the same time, the Kness Group is concerned about the uncertainty of the mechanism for the distribution of quotas of renewable energy. According to Didichenko, the quotas should be set in proportion to bids from different types of generation. Auctions should be held for the two main types of “green” generation – solar and wind – separately.
“Projects in wind power can be very large. As a result, they may either not have enough quotas, or the project will remain completely unfulfilled,” Didichenko said. In his opinion, the volume of quotas should correlate with the volumes of balancing capacities, but today this issue in Ukraine is not raised yet.
Rengy Development plans to build 80 MW of solar power plants in Ukraine in 2019 and to double the total portfolio of completed projects, to 160 MW.
This was announced by Managing Partner of Rengy Development Narek Harutyunyan during the discussion on the topic “Renewable Energy in Details,” organized by the Golaw law firm.
According to him, objects of 50 MW are already under construction in Mykolaiv region, the construction of another 30 MW will begin soon. He suggested there will be lull in the market of building solar stations Ukraine in July-August in view of the uncertain situation with “green” auctions.
Rengy Development was established in 2009. Since then the company has built 12 solar plants: these are mostly stations of up to 5 MW, and several plants of over 10 MW. In July 2018, Scatec Solar (Norway) signed an agreement with Rengy Development on the joint construction of a solar plant with a capacity of 47 MW in Mykolaiv region for EUR52 million.
Persey Energo LLC intends to build a biogas plant with an electrical capacity of 12 MW at Persey Agro farm (Ivano-Frankivsk region).
This is evidenced by the report about the planned activities in the unified register of environmental impact assessment, posted on the website of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
It is planned that the plant will recycle organic waste from agriculture and animal breeding. It is assumed that the plant will generate 12 million kWh of electricity and 7.288 million kWh of heat per year.
According to the state register of legal entities, at the end of March the founders of Persey Energo LLC, registered in 2018, were five individuals and Alliance-Invest IF LLC. Persey Agro belongs to Volodymyr Slobodian.
AllianceEnergo LLC (Kyiv) upon the request of PJSC Kyivoblenergo will build a solar power plant with a capacity of up to 5 MW at 36a Zaporizka Street in Boryspil.
Kyivoblenergo reported in the ProZorro system in early March that the value of the contract it intends to sign is UAH 7.28 million.
Spetselektromontazh 2007 LLC also took part in the auction.
At the end of 2017, the executive committee of Boryspil City Council provided Promin-Energo LLC with urban planning conditions and restrictions for the construction of a 5 MW solar plant on a land plot at 36a Zaporizka Street in Boryspil. At the end of 2018, Promin-Energo LLC obtained a license to produce electricity for the first stage of the solar plant at the specified address with a capacity of 996.36 kW from the National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation.
The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and Delta Wilmar CIS have signed amendments to the memorandum and defined priority areas in implementing the next public-private partnership project at Yuzhny seaport.
According to the report on the agency’s website, it is planned that private investors will build new berth No. 37 in the port, a plant for processing soybeans, as well as storage and handling facilities for handling bulk agricultural cargo. The agency, in turn, will conduct dredging works to create an operational water area and an approach channel to the new pier.
According to the plans of Delta Wilmar CIS, the new plant for processing soybeans will have a capacity of up to 2,000 tonnes per day, a terminal for the accumulation and simultaneous storage of grain and meal for 40,000 tonnes.
Delta Wilmar CIS LLC was established in 2004. It specializes in the production of oil and fat goods and ingredients for bakery, confectionery and dairy products.
PJSC Kyivoblenergo has announced a tender to build the Boryspil solar power plant with a power capacity of 5 MW at 36A, Zaporizhska Street in Boryspil, Kyiv region.
According to the ProZorro e-procurement system, the expected cost of works is UAH 7.305 million. Bids can be submitted before March 1. The auction is to take place on March 4.

According to the public register of owners of legal entities, as of February 2019, Promin-Energo LLC with a statutory fund of UAH 60 million belonged to four individuals – Eduard Nikitiuk, Yulia Merezhko, Ihor Protsenko and Asatur Baghdasaryan.
