UKRAINE AND ALGERIA PLAN TO HOLD BUSINESS FORUM

Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Algeria, Dmytro Kuleba and Sabri Boukadoum, during a telephone conversation agreed to hold the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries next month.
Within the framework of the consultations, a substantive discussion of a wide range of issues of bilateral relations will take place: from support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the international arena to the development of cooperation in the spheres of industry, education and tourism, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
“Within the framework of political consultations, Ukraine and Algeria plan to sign an agreement on the creation of a Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation as an effective tool for promoting trade and investment, as well as hold a business forum with the participation of leading Ukrainian and Algerian companies,” Kuleba said.
The Ukrainian minister stressed that within the framework of a renewed vision of the development of relations between Ukraine and the African continent, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine set itself the goal of opening up Algeria’s opportunities for Ukrainian business. According to him, the situation is unacceptable when there are no active bilateral contacts at the political level with the important countries of the region, in particular Algeria, which at the end of 2019 became the second largest trade partner of Ukraine in Africa.
Kuleba also invited Boukadoum to pay an official visit to Ukraine at a convenient time for him.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine indicated that in 2019 the total volume of trade in goods and services between Ukraine and Algeria reached a record for bilateral relations – $614.4 million. At last year end, Algeria became Ukraine’s second largest trade partner in Africa after Egypt.

Ukraine and Hungary will soon hold a business forum of Ukrainian and Hungarian companies, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

“We, as you know, have a very intensive and rich dialogue with my Hungarian colleague, the goal of which is to ensure rich, dynamic and effective interaction between Ukraine and Hungary. It will not be an exaggeration to say that we have already achieved a lot in this area: we renewed trust in our dialogue, we held a meaningful meeting of the bilateral Ukrainian-Hungarian economic commission, we started to move towards the implementation of a number of common infrastructure and trade projects,” Kuleba said.
However, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said that Hungary is ready to “steer bilateral relations in the right direction” and named a number of projects that Budapest is ready to implement.
“I noted to my colleague that we are ready to co-finance the reconstruction of Berehove hospital. We are ready for the reconstruction of the bridge that crosses the Tisza River, which passes near the Chop-Zahony checkpoint. We are ready to take part in the construction of a bypass road in Berehovo and its construction to the border. We are ready to open a border checkpoint. We are ready to finish the M3 highway to the Ukrainian border by 2021,” Szijjártó said.
