In January-September this year, Ukraine reduced exports of semi-finished carbon steel products in physical terms by 44.5% year-on-year to 924,463 thousand tons.
According to the statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), exports of carbon steel semi-finished products amounted to $476.690 million in monetary terms over the period (down 54.8%).
The main exports were to Bulgaria (35.56% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (26.50%) and Italy (9.88%).
In January-September, Ukraine imported 92 tons of semi-finished products from China worth $169 thousand, while no imports were made in September.
As reported, in 2022, Ukraine decreased exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in physical terms by 72% compared to the previous year – to 1 million 899.729 thousand tons, and in monetary terms by 70.9% – to $1 billion 191.279 million. The main exports were made to Bulgaria (26.55% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (13.97%) and Italy (12.13%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 5,558 thousand tons of similar products in 2022, which is 85.7% less than in 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 86% to $3.634 million. Imports were carried out from the Russian Federation (96.92% of supplies before the war), China (1.84%), and Romania (1.21%).
Ukraine in January-November this year, Ukraine has reduced the export of semi-finished products of carbon steel in physical terms by 70.6% compared to the same period last year – up to 1 million 824.586 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), in monetary terms, exports of semi-finished products of carbon steel during this period decreased by 69.4% – to $ 1 billion 147.436 million.
In addition, Ukraine imported 5,558 thousand tons of such products in January-November, which is 84.7% less than in January-November 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 84.9% to $3.634 million.
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 decreased exports of semi-finished carbon steel products in volume terms by 9.5% compared to 2020 – up to 6 million 776.44 thousand tons. In monetary terms, exports of semi-finished carbon steel products for the year increased by 48.8% – to $4 billion 93.02 million. The main exports were shipped to Italy (30.90% of deliveries in monetary terms), Turkey (12.77%) and the Dominican Republic (8.02%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 38.97 thousand tons of such products in 2021, which is 2.6 times more than in 2020. In monetary terms, imports increased by 3.9 times – up to $25.95 million. Imports were from the Russian Federation (97.73% of supplies), Turkey (1.15%) and Uzbekistan (1.08%).
Ukraine in January-September of this year reduced the export of semi-finished products from carbon steel in kind by 68.9% compared to the same period last year – up to 1 million 665.909 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), in monetary terms, the export of semi-finished products from carbon steel over this period decreased by 67% – to $1 billion 55.080 million.
The main exports were to Bulgaria (23.38% of deliveries in monetary terms), Italy (13.6%) and Poland (12092%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 5,540 thousand tons of such products in January-September, which is 65.4% less than in January-September 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 64.7% – to $ 3.588 million. Imports were carried out from the Russian Federation (98.16% of supplies), Romania (1.23%) and China (0.59%).

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), in monetary terms, exports of carbon steel semi-finished products over this period decreased by 59.3% to $955.049 million.
The main exports were to Bulgaria (21.68% of supplies in monetary terms), Italy (14.75%) and Turkey (11.2%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 5.532 thousand tons of such products in January-July, which is 56.8% less than in January-July 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 55.2% – to $ 3.576 million. Imports were carried out from the Russian Federation (98.49% of supplies), Romania (1.23%) and China (0.25%).

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, exports of carbon steel semi-finished products over this period decreased by 54.1%, to $900.84 million.
The products were mainly exported to Bulgaria (21.38% of supplies in monetary terms), Italy (15.59%) and Turkey (11.87%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 5,530 tonnes of such products in January-June, which is 47.2% less than in January-June 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 45.2%, to $3.53 million. The products were mainly imported from the Russian Federation (99.72% of supplies) and China (0.25%).
Ukraine in 2018 retained exports of semifinished carbon steel products in kind at the level of 2017, totaling 6.291 million tonnes.
Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service said in a customs statistics report that exports of semifinished carbon steel products in monetary terms grew by 18.2%, to $3.003 billion.
The bulk of semifinished carbon steel products was exported to Italy (34.24% of total exports in monetary terms), Egypt (15.53%), and Turkey (14.78%).
Last year Ukraine imported 43,880 tonnes of semifinished carbon steel products, which is twice up year-on-year. Imports in monetary terms grew by 2.2-fold, to $26.412 million.
Imports of semifinished carbon steel products originated from Russia (97.9%), Kazakhstan (1.44%) and the United States (0.5%).
In 2017 Ukraine cut exports of imports in kind by 18.8% from 2016, to 6.292 million tonnes, while exports in monetary terms increased by 14.9%, to $2.542 billion.
Italy accounted for 30.61% of exports in monetary terms, while the share of Turkey was 17.02% and that of Egypt – 16.28%.
Imports of semifinished carbon steel products in 2017 totaled 22,038 tonnes, which was 20.1% up from 2016. Imports in monetary terms grew by 85.4%, to $12.091 million.
Most of semifinished carbon steel products were imported from Russia (95.48% of total imports), Kazakhstan (4.03%), and Bulgaria (0.25%).
