Prices for carrots in Ukraine have been rising for several weeks, analysts of the EastFruit project report. Experts explain the rise in prices for this product by the fact that many local producers have exhausted stocks of quality root crops, whose harvest in 2024 was significantly affected by unfavorable weather conditions.
At the moment, the price range for carrots is already voiced in the range of 25-32 UAH/kg ($0.59-0.76/kg), depending on the quality and volume of offered batches of vegetables, which is on average 10% more expensive than a week earlier.
Market participants explain another price increase in this segment by stable demand for quality carrots. At the same time, the supply of these root crops on the Ukrainian market has noticeably decreased this week. Many producers have already announced the end of the season of realization of available stocks of products. Some farms offer for sale residual lots or refrain from selling at all, hoping to realize vegetables closer to spring at higher prices.
It should be added that today the price of carrots in Ukraine is already on average 2.3 times higher than in early January 2024. Industry experts explain this price level by the reduction in the harvest of this product in the current season due to weather anomalies in the summer.

Ukrainian producers of carrots continue to confidently increase selling prices for their products, according to analysts of the project EastFruit. Market operators explain the next rise in prices in this segment by the increased demand of wholesale companies and retail chains, which continue to buy these root crops for further realization.
Thus, only since the beginning of the current week carrots have grown in price up to UAH 23-30/kg, ($0.55-0.71/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the offered batches of products, which is on average 15% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
Producers argue the price growth in this segment for several reasons at once. First of all, the upward price trend is associated with a noticeable reduction in the supply of substandard products, as supplies from unequipped warehouses have fallen to a minimum. At the same time, the demand for carrots remains quite active. It is also worth noting that some large farms are still holding back sales of this root vegetable of high quality in the hope of further price growth.
To date, carrots in Ukraine are already on sale on average 2.6 times more expensive than in the same period last year. At the same time, market operators note that the rise in prices has not contributed to a decrease in demand for carrots, so they do not exclude that next week farmers will make attempts to once again raise prices in this segment.

Increased trade activity stimulates the growth of prices for carrots in Ukrainian farms, according to analysts of the EastFruit project. According to the producers themselves, at the moment this root vegetable is actively purchased by both wholesale companies, which put it in storage, and the population, which forms stocks for the winter. In addition, sales to retail chains remain quite stable.
Today, farmers in the main regions of production ship quality carrots at 18-25 UAH/kg ($0.16-0.22/kg), which is on average 12% more expensive than at the end of last week. However, industry experts emphasize that the trend of price growth is observed only in the segment of high quality carrots, which are purchased for storage.
It should be noted that at the moment prices for quality carrots in Ukraine are already on average 3.3 times higher than in the same period last year. At the same time, some producers plan to further increase prices for carrots, provided the current sales rates are maintained.
