UKRAINE AND TURKMENISTAN TO SIGN COOPERATION PROGRAM

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar has held online talks with his Turkmen counterpart Berdyniyaz Miatiyev during which they agreed to sign a cooperation program between the foreign ministries of Ukraine and Turkmenistan for 2020-2021 in the near future, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said. “The diplomats noted the importance of active development of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation. With this aim they agreed to sign a cooperation program between the foreign ministries of Ukraine and Turkmenistan for 2020-2021 in the near future,” the ministry said on Wednesday.
The deputy ministers also decided to hold important bilateral events, in particular a meeting between the foreign ministers of the countries and another meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission for economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, after the quarantine.
The Ukrainian diplomat also said that the countries should unite their efforts in order to minimize a negative impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the economies of both countries and protect the rights and interests of their citizens.
“This will help us to ensure active inter-regional cooperation and successful activities of Ukrainian companies in Turkmenistan, as well as restore mutually beneficial energy cooperation,” the ministry said.
The diplomats also discussed promising areas of cooperation between their countries within international organizations, including the UN.
The sides also agreed on building of active cultural and humanitarian cooperation, learning opportunities for intensification of cooperation in the spheres of science, education and technology, training diplomats and holding online lectures during the quarantine, the ministry said.

UKRAINE AND AZERBAIJAN AGREE ON COOPERATION IN INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORTATION

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is convinced of the need for joint development of transport capabilities with Azerbaijan, the presidential press service said.
“We should make full use of the unique transit potential of our countries and develop the appropriate infrastructure. We agreed to intensify cooperation in international aviation, road and railway transportation,” he said at a joint press briefing with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku.
In addition, the parties agreed to hold a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Ukraine and Azerbaijan in Kyiv in January. Zelensky noted that he expects “specific cases after this meeting, investments with very specific terms” following this meeting.
Special attention was paid to joint projects in the space and aviation sectors, in particular in aircraft construction.
Azerbaijan’s leader, in turn, called the negotiations fruitful and noted that Azerbaijani businessmen show a significant interest in cooperation with Ukraine, but much depends on the results of the intergovernmental commission.

WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION AND UKRAINE SIGN COOPERATION PROGRAM

Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of intellectual property and signed a Cooperation Program for 2020-2021.
According to a message on the ministry’s website, the parties also signed a memorandum of cooperation, which, in particular, provides for the establishment of a National Intellectual Property Center in Ukraine.
“We plan to create a National Center for Intellectual Property according to the methodology of the World Intellectual Property Organization, as well as to develop a network of Technology and Innovation Support Centers. In the future, Ukraine will join the WIPO-administered Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works,” the ministry quoted Taras Kachka as saying.

UKRAINE INTERESTED IN COOPERATION WITH JAPAN IN IT SPHERE – PM

Ukraine is interested in cooperation with Japan in the sphere of IT, the press service of the government has reported after a meeting of Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk with a Japanese delegation.
“During the meeting, the issue of possible cooperation in the field of information technology was discussed,” the press service said.
The head of the Japan-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship League Eisuke Mori said that the IT vector could be the impetus for the development of Ukraine.
In turn, Honcharuk added that today, the IT industry is one of the most progressive in Ukraine. “One of the priorities of our government is the development of IT. We would be glad to consider the opportunity of sharing experience with you,” the prime minister said.
In addition, Honcharuk said that Ukraine plans to invest in projects in the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and will be glad if Japan becomes a partner in this matter. In this regard, Mori said that the safety associated with nuclear energy should be one of the key areas of bilateral cooperation.

UKRAINE, POLAND, U.S. SIGN COOPERATION MEMORANDUM IN GAS SECTOR

Ukraine, Poland and the United States on Saturday, August 31, signed an agreement on cooperation in the gas sector, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Danilyuk said.
“At a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, which preceded the signing of the Memorandum, we discussed the importance of diversifying the risks dictated by dependence on Russian gas supplies, both for Ukraine and Poland. One of the steps to ensure energy independence of our state will be the supply of liquefied gas through Poland, “he wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday night.
Danyliuk considers the signing of the memorandum historically important for Ukraine.
“A historic day. Another step towards diversifying gas supplies to Ukraine,” Danyliuk said.

UKRAINE AND ISRAEL SIGN DOCUMENTS ON COOPERATION IN AGRICULTURE, ECONOMICS, EDUCATION, SPORTS

Ukraine and Israel signed bilateral documents on cooperation in agriculture, economics, education, culture, as well as youth and sports. “A series of Ukrainian-Israeli documents were signed in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu,” the presidential press service reported on Monday.
Thus, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Joel Lyon signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the sphere of agriculture between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the State of Israel.
In addition, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the State of Israel Hennadiy Nadolenko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Joel Lyon signed an Agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education of the State of Israel as regards facilitating the study of the Hebrew language in the educational institutions of Ukraine and the study of the Ukrainian language in the educational institutions of the State of Israel.
In addition, the ambassadors of the two states signed a Program of Cooperation in the spheres of education, culture, youth and sports between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Israel for 2019-2022.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Oleksiy Perevezentsev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Joel Lyon signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and the Israeli Patent Office of the Ministry of Justice of the State of Israel.
