WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM TO TAKE PLACE ON MAY IN DAVOS

The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will be held on May 22-26 in Davos after a two-year hiatus prompted by Covid-19.
Topics on the agenda will include the pandemic recovery, tackling climate change, building a better future for work, accelerating stakeholder capitalism, and harnessing the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the WEF said in a statement.
“After all the virtual meetings taking place in the last two years, leaders from politics, business and civil society have to convene finally in person again. We need to establish the atmosphere of trust that is truly needed to accelerate collaborative action and to address the multiple challenges we face,” Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab was quoted as saying in the statement.

WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM TO DISCUSS COVID ONLINE AT DAVOS

On January 25-29 this year, instead of the traditional Davos Forum, the World Economic Forum will host the Davos Agenda online event dedicated to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the recovery of economies.
According to a posting on the WEF website, the Davos Agenda is a pioneering mobilization of global leaders to shape the principles, policies and partnerships needed in this challenging new context.
“The pandemic has accelerated systemic changes that were apparent before its inception… The time to rebuild trust and to make crucial choices is fast approaching as the need to reset priorities and the urgency to reform systems grow stronger around the world,” the WEF said.
Davos Agenda will address the impact of COVID-19 on the life of mankind, including the economic impact, the search for solutions to fight crisis, actions on climate change, the development of modern technologies, the future of the labor market.
The Davos Agenda will also mark the launch of the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset Initiative and begin the preparation of the Special Annual Meeting in the spring.
According to the list of Davos Agenda participants at the disposal of Interfax-Ukraine, seven representatives from Ukraine have registered for the event, in particular, from DTEK – CEO Maksym Timchenko, Chairman of DTEK Advisory Council Johan Bastin, Chief Innovation Officer at DTEK Emanuele Volpe and Advisor to CEO on International Relations Yulia Burmistenko, from Smart Holding – its founder Vadim Novinsky and CEO Alexey Pertin. In addition, Olha Stoliarchuk, a representative of the Kyiv Hub educational project, plans to take part in the event.

PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE TO MEET IN DAVOS WITH DUTCH PM AND SWISS PRESIDENT

Within the framework of a working visit to Switzerland, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with President of the Swiss Confederation Simonetta Sommaruga and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.
According to the Interfax-Ukraine agency, the head of state will also hold meetings with the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti.
In addition, Zelensky will meet with Chairman of the Board and CEO of Cargill (U.S.) David MacLennan, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev, founder and head of the Indian Adani Group Gautam Adani.

UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT TO TAKE PART IN DAVOS FORUM

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on January 23-24 will make a working visit to Switzerland to participate in the annual World Economic Forum, his press service said. “The head of state will take part in the session on the Strategic Outlook for Central and Eastern Europe and hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders of international organizations, world leaders, and representatives of leading business circles of the world,” the message says. The president of Ukraine will also chair the second meeting of the National Investment Council, which will be held in Davos.
