UKRAINIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY WORKING ON ORGANIZATION OF CENTERS FOR MULTI-SUBJECT TEST IN EU AND UK

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is working on the organization of centers for the national multi-subject test in the countries of the European Union and the UK.
“Now we are working on organizing the work of national multi-subject test centers abroad. Minister Serhiy Shkarlet made a relevant request to his colleagues in European countries,” the ministry’s press service said in a statement.
It is noted there is already a preliminary agreement on two centers in Germany, two in Italy and six in Poland, since most Ukrainian children are in this country.

EDUCATION MINISTRY DECIDES TO SWITCH MOST OF UNIVERSITIES TO HOLIDAYS ON OCT 25

The Education Ministry of Ukraine has made a decision to transfer students from the majority of higher educational institutions and schools from Monday, October 25, to holidays due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said.
“The NSDC apparatus appealed to the Education Ministry. There it was decided that, starting from Monday [October 25], the overwhelming majority of all higher educational institutions go on vacation. We believe that schoolchildren are needed from Monday […] they should also be sent on vacation, perhaps, with the exception of children who study there from grades one to four,” Danilov said at a briefing following the NSDC meeting on Friday.
He said the relevant decision will be made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the responsible agencies.

8 UKRAINIAN UNIVERSITIES ENTER TOP-1200 WORLD UNIVERSITIES IN QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

Eight Ukrainian higher education institutions are represented in the QS World University Rankings 2022, according to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
“Eight Ukrainian higher educational institutions are represented in the QS World University Rankings 2022. This year, the university rating is the largest in the entire history of the study, it includes 1,300 higher educational institutions,” the ministry’s press service said.
It is noted that the highest position in the ranking among Ukrainian universities according to the research results is occupied by Karazin Kharkiv National University (511-520 position).
Further the ranking include Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with 601-650 position; Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute with 651-700 position; Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with 701-750 position; Sumy State University with 701-750 position; Lviv Polytechnic National University with 801-1000 position; National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy with 1001-1200 position; Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, which entered the rating for the first time, with 1001-1200 position.
According to the statement, the top position in the ranking for the tenth consecutive year is occupied by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The QS World University Rankings, which was founded in 2004, has evolved into an authoritative benchmarking tool for benchmarking university performance.

UKRAINIAN BUDGET TO INCREASE FINANCING FOR EDUCATION MINISTRY BY 14%

Financing for the Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine increased by 14% in the draft national budget of Ukraine for 2020, prepared by the government for second reading, to UAH 131.483 billion, as compared with 2019, according to bill No. 2000 dated September 15 amended for second reading.
In particular, UAH 44.331 billion will be allocated for the apparatus of the Education and Science Ministry, of which UAH 134.9 million will be spent on management and administration in the spheres of education and science, UAH 107.6 million – on organization of work of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, National Agency for Qualification, education ombudsman, state attestation and accreditation and educational institutions, UAH 200 million – on professional (vocational) training of national significance, and UAH 1.162 billion – on research and development at higher education establishments and scientific institutions.
