It is planned to launch a first phase of the solid household waste treatment facility with the landfill gas collection and power generation system in 2019, Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes has said.
“Next year we will open the first phase of the process… Waste will be delivered to a new landfill, and the old one will be reclaimed. This is the priority task, as the old landfill is on the verge [of being filled],” Kernes told reporters on Wednesday.
As reported, the waste treatment facility project in Derhachi district of Kharkiv region includes construction of a new modern landfill, installation of a gas collection unit and a building for sorting line with a gross area of 4,000 square meters.
