Ukraine in January-June of this year reduced the export of ferroalloys in quantity terms by 27.2% compared to the same period last year, to 232,596 tonnes.
According to statistics published by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, exports of ferroalloys increased by 2%, to $420.518 million.
At the same time, the main export was to Poland (55.83% of supplies in monetary terms), the Netherlands (9.72%) and Romania (7.05%).
In addition, during this period, Ukraine imported 14,941 tonnes of these products, which is 45.7% less compared to January-June 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 26.1% to $54.361 million.
Import was carried out mainly from Norway (30.23%), China (16.77%) and Brazil (16.24%).
Ukraine in January-April this year increased the export of ferroalloys in physical terms by 7.2% compared to the same period last year – up to 220.206 thousand tons.
According to statistics published by the State Customs Service (STS), in monetary terms, exports of ferroalloys increased by 58.5% to $390.861 million.
At the same time, the main exports were to Poland (60.98% of supplies in monetary terms), Italy (6.67%) and the Netherlands (6.53%).
In addition, during this period, Ukraine imported 13.461 thousand tons of these products, which is 27.4% less compared to January-April 2021. In monetary terms, imports increased by 7.3% to $46.381 million.
Import was carried out mainly from Norway (35.43%), Brazil (15.44%) and Kazakhstan (13.32%).
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased the export of ferroalloys in physical terms by 6.9% compared to 2020 – up to 668.539 thousand tons, in monetary terms, the export of ferroalloys increased by 58.2% – up to $1 billion 43.880 million. the main exports were to Turkey (19.87% of supplies in monetary terms), Italy (13.51%) and China (11.28%).
In addition, in 2021 Ukraine imported 59.569 thousand tons of these products, which is 75.6% more by 2020. In monetary terms, imports increased by 84.5% – up to $177.616 million. Imports were carried out mainly from Brazil (16.93%), Norway (15.72%) and Kazakhstan (15.1%).
The business of the Stakhanov and Zaporozhye Ferroalloy Plants (SZF and ZZF) was organized by PrivatBank (Kyiv) before the financial institution was nationalized. The Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant is controlled by the EastOne group, created in the fall of 2007 as a result of the restructuring of the Interpipe group, as well as the Privat group.
Ukraine in January of this year reduced the export of ferroalloys in quantity terms by 7.9% compared to the same period last year, to 41,830 tonnes.
According to statistics published by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, the export of ferroalloys increased by 67.9%, to $79.918 million.
At the same time, the products were mainly exported to Algeria (13.68% of supplies in monetary terms), the Netherlands (13.27%) and Poland (11.01%).
In addition, in January, Ukraine imported 10,811 tonnes of these products, which is 4.5 times more compared to January 2021. In monetary terms, imports increased 4.6 times, to $30.605 million.
The products were mainly imported from Norway (53.69%), Brazil (16.60%) and Kazakhstan (9%).
Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant (ZFP) in January-August this year increased its output by 0.7% compared to the same period last year, to 139,810 tonnes.
As the Ukrainian Association of Producers of Ferroalloys and Other Electrometallurgical Products told Interfax-Ukraine, over eight months of the year, the plant reduced production of silicon manganese by 29.4%, to 46,310 tonnes, but increased output of ferrosilicon – by 34.4%, to 53,840 tonnes, and ferromanganese – by 11%, to 34,840 tonnes.
The enterprise also increased production of metallic manganese by 2.7 times, to 4,820 tonnes.
In August, 21,000 tonnes of ferroalloys were produced.
Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant is one of three Ukrainian manufacturers of these products. The share of the domestic market of its supplies is 30-35%. Products are exported to the CIS countries, the European Union, Asia and Africa.
Ferroalloy enterprises of Ukraine in January-August of this year increased their production by 8% in total compared to the same period last year, to 587,620 tonnes, including 88,930 tonnes produced in August.
As the Ukrainian Association of Producers of Ferroalloys and Other Electrometallurgical Products told Interfax-Ukraine, in January-August 2021 production of silicon manganese at Zaporizhia and Nikopol Ferroalloy Plants increased by 11.3%, to 458,360 tonnes. At the same time, the total production of ferromanganese at three plants decreased by 22.1%, to 70,600 tonnes: Zaporizhia, Nikopol and Kramatorsk Ferroalloy Plants (Kramatorsk plant was idle in January-August 2021, while in the same period of 2020 it produced 34,090 tonnes).
In addition, in Ukraine, production of ferrosilicon (equivalent to 45% ferrosilicon) increased by 34.4%, to 53,840 tonnes, and metallic manganese – by 2.7 times, to 4,820 tonnes.
Pokrov (previously Ordzhonikidze) and Marhanets Mining and Processing Plants (both located in Dnipropetrovsk region) which extract and concentrate manganese ore, in January-August 2021 produced a total of 1.122 million tonnes of manganese concentrate, which is 3.8% lower compared to January-August 2020. At the same time, Marhanets plant produced 364,100 tonnes of concentrate (a decrease of 1.06% compared to the same period in 2020), and Pokrov plant produced 757,940 tonnes (a decrease of 5.1%).
In January-August 2021, Pokrov Mining and Processing Plant also produced 195,040 tonnes of iron ore sinter (93% more compared to the same period in 2020), supplying it to Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (DMZ), part of DCH Steel from DCH Group of businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky.
Ukraine in January-June of this year reduced exports of ferroalloys in quantity terms by 6.8% compared to the same period last year, to 388,691 tonnes.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, exports of ferroalloys increased by 17.4%, to $523.365 million.
The product was mainly exported to Turkey (17.84% of supplies in monetary terms), Italy (14.61%) and Poland (11.93%).
In addition, in January-July 2021, Ukraine imported 30,294 tonnes of this product, which is 40.3% more compared to January-July 2020. In monetary terms, imports increased by 40.6%, to $84.065 million.
The product was mainly imported from Brazil (19.16%), Kazakhstan (17.13%) and Russia (10.97%).
