RDS PLANS TO OPEN N-01 KYIV-ZNAMYANKA HIGHWAY THREE MONTHS AHEAD OF PLAN

Construction on the N-01 Kyiv-Znamyanka highway, which in three sections is being carried out by RDS group of road construction companies within the government’s and president’s “Big Construction” program, is three months ahead of schedule, the company has said.
“We are ahead of schedule on the N-01 highway. There are only three sections. According to the contract, we must hand over the first one in September, the second one in October, the third one in November, but we will finish everything in July,” Yuriy Shumakher, the co-owner of the group, told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, almost 100 people work at the facility, employees comply with sanitary safety standards.
The company said that it had signed agreements on this site for a total of UAH 658 million with the Automobile Road Service of Cherkasy region. Repairs are underway in Horodysche and Smila districts. Some 36.8 km of old pavement have been dismantled. The new coating will be two-layer. The bottom layer of asphalt concrete pavement has been laid. In Horodysche district, some 14 km of the upper finish layer have been laid. Now traffic is in a reverse mode.
RDS Group is included in the top three road construction companies of Ukraine. It includes Kyivshliakhbud” and Rostdorstroy. The core business is construction, reconstruction and maintenance of roads and bridges, construction of airfield complexes.
The ultimate beneficial owners of RDS Group are Ukrainian citizens Yuriy Shumakher and Yevhen Konovalov.

TURKEY’S ONUR WILL REPAIR 40 KM OF KYIV-ODESA HIGHWAY

The State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) has announced its intention to overhaul 40 km of the M-05 Kyiv-Odesa road at the expense of funds from international financial organizations, Onur Taahhut Tasimacilik Insaat Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. (Turkey) was determined as the contractor with a contract signed for the amount of EUR65.033 million.
The agency said on Telegram the reconstruction of the road section (km 87+442 – km 128+028) will be carried out as part of the project for improving the transport and operational condition of roads on the approaches to Kyiv, which is implemented for credit funds of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
According to Ukravtodor, in particular, the matter concerns three facilities where road, bridge, drainage and other works will be carried out.
“Based on the results of open international tenders in accordance with the principles and rules of the EBRD, Onur Taahhut Tasimacilik Insaat Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. was determined as the contractor. A contract was signed with it on January 20, 2020 for a total of EUR65.033 million excluding VAT,” the report says.
According to Ukravtodor, the contractor is currently carrying out preparatory activities. The active phase of the overhaul of the site will begin after the issuance of an appropriate permit for road work by the State Architectural and Construction Inspectorate.

EUROPEAN BANKS TO PROVIDE EUR 900 MLN FOR OVERHAUL OF KYIV-ODESA HIGHWAY IN UKRAINE

The European banks will provide EUR 900 million for overhaul of Kyiv-Odesa highway in Ukraine, said acting Chief of Ukravtodor Ukrainian Automobile Roads Agency Slawomir Nowak. “We managed to complete negotiations with the European banks, with EIB and BRD, and Ukraine will be granted the next 900 million euros for the overhaul of Kyiv-Odesa and assignment of an autobahn category to this road. From the next building season, they must begin repairs,” website of Hromadske media quotes Nowak as saying.
According to him, overhaul of Kyiv-Odesa highway will begin in 2020 and the highway is to become autoban after reconstruction. Three or four years needed for overhaul of this highway, Nowak said.
As reported, Nowak handed in resignation to Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk following the termination of his three-year tenure.

UKRAVTODOR TO COMPLETE REPAIRS OF ZAPORIZHIA-MARIUPOL HIGHWAY BY 2020

Acting Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Slawomir Nowak has said hopefully Zaporizhia-Mariupol highway will be repaired by the end of 2019.
“We have a very ambitious goal: to complete Zaporizhia-Mariupol corridor this year. Large-scale funding was provided to complete these works, because this corridor is very important for the whole country. This is ‘the road of life’ for Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions, for Mariupol as well, thus we want to work so fast to be able to complete the construction,” Novak told the journalists during a visiting meeting.
He said the works are carried under constant supervision of the agency.
According to the Ukravtodor, the total length of the site is 209 km (41.3 in Donetsk region and 167.6 km in Zaporizhia region). Meanwhile, 54.1 km of roads have already been repaired (10.1 in Donetsk region and 44 km in Zaporizhia region).
Inter alia, the highway workers plan to repair 80.4 km of road in Zaporizhia region worth UAH 1.567 billion, and 31.2 km of road in Donetsk region worth UAH 840.6 million.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has addressed a balance of funds of the Ukravtodor in an amount of UAH 1.920 billion and unappropriated expenditures of 2019 in an amount of UAH 94.142 million for the development of the principal highways.
The government passed a respective decision at its meeting on Wednesday.
According to an explanatory note to the document, over UAH 1.240 billion will be allocated for continuation of the permanent medium repairs of Boryspil-Dnipro-Zaporizhia-Mariupol highway enroute Zaporizhia-Mariupol, extra UAH 400 million will be spent for Dnipro-Mykolaiv highway (Dnipropetrovsk region) repairs in 2019.

DTEK ENERGY HOLDING EXPANDS ELECTRIC CHARGING STATIONS ON KYIV-ODESA HIGHWAY

DTEK Energy Holding has installed four high-speed STRUM electric charging stations for electric vehicles with a capacity of 50 kW each on the Odesa highway, the company’s press service has reported. “Our stations with a capacity of 50 kW charge a car battery to 80% in 20-40 minutes,” Ihor Kovalev, the STRUM network project manager.
Electric charging stations are installed in the parking lot of the Zolota Pidkova hotel and restaurant complex (the Chupyra village, Kyiv region), at the SOCAR fuel filling station (Ropotukha, Cherkasy region), at the Shell fuel station (Nastasiyevka, Odesa region), and at the parking lot of the METRO supermarket in Odesa. One can find free electric charging station through the STRUM Charging mobile application.
The company also noted that by the end of summer the STRUM network plans to install up to 23 high-speed charging stations.

PART OF KYIV-ODESA HIGHWAY TO BECOME CEMENT CONCRETE ROAD

Part of M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway in Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions will be built as a road with the cement concrete surface.
“A few days ago I managed to convince our colleagues from the European Investment Bank that all subsequent loan financing that we will receive is sent to M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway in order to have a full-fledged highway in a few years. We are planning this road within Cherkasy region with the asphalt concrete surface, and within the borders of Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions with the cement concrete surface,” Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Slawomir Nowak wrote on the Facebook social network.
According to him, this year the design documentation for the overhaul of the section of the road in Cherkasy region will be ready and the designing of the cement concrete road will begin within the boundaries of three regions.
“This year we are repairing the Kyiv-Odesa highway at the expense of the national budget. We also plan to overhaul sections of this road in Kyiv region at the expense of the ISIs [international finanicial institutions]. For example, in Cherkasy region we repair the section 15 km long with funds from the Road Fund. This is half the length of the most problematic section – between Zhashkiv and Uman,” Nowak said.
In addition, the Northern bypass road in Zhytomyr, Dnipro-Reshetylivka (within the boundaries of the Poltava region with the cement concrete surface, and Dnipropetrovsk – asphalt concrete) and N-14 highway Kropyvnytsky-Mykolaiv will be concrete, the head of Ukravtodor said.
