UKRAINIAN GROUP KALUSH ORCHESTRA WON EUROVISION 2022

The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra won the International Song Contest Eurovision 2022 in Turin (Italy).
As the correspondent of the Interfax-Ukraine agency reports, on the night of May 15, the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 was held in Turin, Italy.
The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra with the song Stefania, according to the results of voting by the national juries of the participating countries, took 4th place. The highest score 12 was given to Ukraine by the jury in Poland, Moldova, Latvia, Romania and Lithuania, and Ukraine received 10 points from Germany and Iceland.
After the audience voting, Ukraine moved to the first place and won the competition.
The top five also included: Great Britain, Sweden, Spain and Serbia

As reported, on February 12, the national final of the selection for Eurovision 2022 was held in Kyiv. According to the results of the competition, it was determined that in 2022, performer Alina Pash will represent Ukraine at the international song contest with the song “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”. The second place was taken by the group “Kalush Orchestra”, the third – by the singer Wellboy. Roxolana, Barleben, Michael Soul, Cloudless and Our Atlantic also fought for the victory in the final.
After a series of conflict situations and scandals, Pash was disqualified for providing the organizing committee with a fake certificate from the State Border Service. In this regard, it was decided that the Kalush Orchestra would represent Ukraine at the competition.
Ukraine made its debut at Eurovision in 2003, and already in 2004 the Ukrainian singer Ruslana won the contest with the song “Wild Dances” and brought the country the right to host Eurovision in Ukraine. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kyiv, Ukraine was represented by the group “Grinjoly” with the song “Together we are rich”.
In 2016, after a year-long pause, Ukraine was represented at the contest by the singer Jamala with the song “1944”, which became the winner and once again brought the country the right to host Eurovision. In 2017, at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine was represented by the group “O.Torvald” with the song “Time”.
In 2019, Ukraine did not take part in the competition due to public criticism of the singer Maruv because of her performance in the Russian Federation. The National Public Broadcasting Company and the winner of the 2019 National Selection refused to sign the contract.
In 2020, Eurovision was not held in the usual competitive format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, at Eurovision, Ukraine was represented by the electro-folk band Go_A, who took fifth place in the final of the competition.
In general, until 2022, Ukraine took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 16 times and won twice. 5 more times Ukraine got into the top five finalists: Verka Serdyuchka (2nd place), Ani Lorak (2nd), Zlata Ognevich (3rd), Mika Newton (4th) and Go_A (5th).

UKRAINIAN GROUP REACHES FINAL OF EUROVISION

The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra has reached the final of the Eurovision 2022 International Song Contest in Turin (Italy).
As the correspondent of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reports, on May 10, the first semi-final of the International Eurovision Song Contest 2022 was held in Turin.
17 participants performed in it, of which 10 were chosen who will fight for victory in the final of the competition.
The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra with the song Stefania performed at number six.
According to the results of the first semi-final, Ukraine qualified for the final, which will take place on May 14.
