Sales of new buses in Ukraine fell again in April

Initial registrations of new buses (including minibuses) in Ukraine in April 2014 decreased by 25.3%, or 21 units, compared to April last year, to 62 units, according to statistics released by Ukravtoprom. According to the association’s website, the demand for new buses decreased by 20.5%, or 16 vehicles, compared to March 2014.

Ukrainian ZAZ buses manufactured by the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Plant of UkrAVTO Corporation became the leaders of the April market, displacing the traditional leader, Ataman buses manufactured by Cherkasy Bus, to the second position. In April, 17 ZAZ buses were registered, compared to two in April 2023 and one in March this year.

Ataman ended April with 15 buses registered, which is 2.5 times less than a year earlier and 6 units less than in March 2014.

Etalon buses took third place in the ranking, with 10 registrations compared to 9 in April last year and 20 in March this year.

Ford also comes next with 10 buses registered, which is twice as many as in April 2023, but almost half as many as in March this year, and Turkish Otocar (5 vehicles versus one in April 2023).

Mercedes-Benz, Citroen, Ruta, Renault, and Zhongtong registered one new bus each.

Thus, in January-April 2024, the first registrations of buses in Ukraine decreased by 27.2% compared to the same period in 2023 – to 367 units.

As reported, according to Ukravtoprom statistics, in April 2023, registrations of new buses in Ukraine more than doubled compared to April 2022, to 83 units, with Ataman, Volkswagen, Citroen, Etalon and Ford forming the top five.

In 2023, the total initial registrations of new buses of all classes in Ukraine amounted to 1701 units, which is 86% more than a year earlier.

Demand for new buses in Ukraine has halved – Ukravtoprom

Initial registrations of new buses (including minibuses) in Ukraine in January 2024 halved compared to January 2023, to 119 units, Ukravtoprom reported on its Telegram channel.

According to the report, the Ukrainian Ataman was the market leader with 35 buses registered: in January last year, it ranked third with 50 vehicles. Citroen took second place, as it did a year earlier, with 33 buses (19 less), and Etalon, the leader in January-2023, took third place with 15 buses (4.3 times less).

According to the association, Turkish Temsa took the fourth place in the rating with 13 vehicles compared to three in January last year (and eighth place in the rating), and ZAZ took the fifth place (compared to fourth place in January 2023) with 11 buses (9 less).

As reported, in January last year, according to Ukravtoprom, the demand for new buses more than doubled compared to pre-war January 2022, to 239 units.

In 2023, the total initial registrations of new buses of all classes in Ukraine amounted to 1701 units, which is 86% more than in 2022.

Demand for new buses in Ukraine has almost doubled

Primary registrations of new buses (including minibuses) in Ukraine in August increased by 97.2%, or 103 units, compared to July this year – up to 209 units, according to the statistics of the association “Ukravtoprom”.

At the same time, compared to August last year, when 59 buses were registered, the demand increased more than 2.5 times.

As reported, in July-2023 the registration of new buses decreased by 17.2% compared to June.

The position of the leader last month (as in July) was retained by Citroen buses with registration of 72 units, which is by 20 vehicles more than a month earlier (in August-2023 – one bus), the second place is held by Ataman buses produced by JSC “Cherkassy Bus” with registration of 52 vehicles against 23 in July-2023 and 17 – in August last year.

The third place was held by Ukrainian “Etalon” with registration of 51 buses against 8 in July, and another Ukrainian manufacturer – ZAZ – moved up to the fourth line, 11 buses of this brand were registered (in July – one).

Next are Ford (8 buses), the same number of registered buses “Bogdan”, which were not registered neither in July this year, nor in August last year.

Volkswagen (3) JAC (2) Iveco and MAN buses (one each) were registered in August in insignificant volumes.

Thus, in January-August 2023 the total primary registrations of new buses of all classes in Ukraine amounted to 1094 units. – Almost 2.4 times more than in the same period of 2022.

As market experts noted earlier, the bus market is “gradually reviving” (except for the extra large class).

Demand for new buses has increased in Ukraine

Primary registrations of new buses in Ukraine in November increased by 11.7% as compared to October this year, but decreased by 25.3% as compared to November 2021, according to statistics of Ukravtoprom association.
According to the statistics published on the Association’s website, Ataman buses (made by Cherkasy Bus) have regained the leadership in this segment, with 55 vehicles registered, versus 11 in October 2022 (fourth place in the ranking) and 44 vehicles in November last year, when the brand was also in the lead.
Second place went to Citroen with 26 buses, with an increase in sales of 2 units against October of this year and 22 units – against November last year, when it was the seventh place in the rating.
The leader of the previous accounting month, buses Etalon (made by Chernihiv Autoplant) in November is finishing the top three with 19 vehicles against 40 in October 2022. Next comes Ford (8 buses) and ZAZ (6 cars). There are also two Ruta buses and one each for Jac and Temsa.
The statistics of Ukrautoprom does not include buses (including school buses), which are purchased at the expense of the state and local budgets.
“On Wednesday, Ukravtoprom also published information on imports of buses (new and used) to Ukraine in January-September this year, according to which 1021 buses were imported (by 16% less than a year before), and their total customs value amounted to $30.7 million. 86% of imports were used vehicles.
The leader in supplies of buses for nine months was Germany – 388 units, second place was occupied by Poland – 126 units, the third Turkey with 107 buses. Also in the top five largest suppliers were Belgium and Sweden, which imported 98 and 66 units of this type of transport respectively.
