Primary registrations of electric vehicles (new and used) in Ukraine in June 2022 amounted to 1,055 units, including cars – 958 units, which is 65% more than in June 2021, the Ukravtoprom Association reports. Commercial vehicles registered 97 units. – 2.7 times more than in June 2021.
At the same time, in registrations of passenger electric vehicles, the share of new ones increased to 14% compared to 10% a year earlier, but in commercial registrations, as in June last year, only two cars were new.
The market leader in all-electric cars was once again the Nissan Leaf with 196 registrations, the second most popular was the Volkswagen ID.4 with a score of 72 cars, and the third place was the Volkswagen e-Golf with 70 units.
The fourth result belongs to TESLA Model 3 – 58 units, and the TOP-5 of June is closed by Renault Zoe, which has 57 registered cars.
According to the association, in January-June 2022, 4,145 thousand electric vehicles were registered, which is 14% more than in the first half of 2021.
As reported, in 2021, 8,872 electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine for the first time, which is 19% more than a year earlier, the share of new cars increased to 14% compared to 9%.
Primary registrations of electric vehicles in Ukraine (new and used) in April 2021 grew by 6% compared to March of this year, to 699 units, while in April last year, due to the nationwide strict quarantine, only 38 electric cars were registered, according to the Ukrautoprom association. According to a posting on its website on Tuesday, the share of new electric cars of total registrations accounted for 9% (64 units).
The bulk of the electric vehicles registered in April were passenger cars – 666 units, including 62 new and 604 used.
The most popular electric car was Nissan Leaf with 198 registrations, the second result was for TESLA Model 3 (77 registrations), the third for the Chevrolet Bolt (67 cars).
The fourth most popular electric car was TESLA Model S with 38 registrations, and the top five of the April market for electric cars is closed by Audi E-Tron with 37 registered cars.
According to the association, out of 33 commercial electric vehicles registered in April, 29 units were Renault Kangoo Z.E.
Taking into account the April data, in January-April of this year, 2,400 electric vehicles were registered for the first time in Ukraine, which is 37% more than in the same period in 2020. The share of used vehicles was 90%.
At the same time, registrations of used vehicles grew by 36%, to 2,161 units, new ones – by 46%, to 232 units.
Nissan Motor Ukraine will start official sales of the updated Nissan Leaf in Ukraine this summer, according to a press release from the company.
“Nissan Motor Ukraine announces the official start of sales this summer of one of the most popular electric cars in the world. Nissan Leaf has become a pioneer in the segment of mass electric vehicles, and today it is one of the world’s bestsellers, with more than 500,000 cars sold,” the report says.
As reported, only used Nissan Leafs are currently imported to Ukraine, which for a long time held the undisputed leadership in the initial registrations of electric vehicles in Ukraine.
According to the Ukrautoprom association, in 2020 the registrations of Nissan Leaf amounted to 2,180, while Tesla Model 3 ranks second with 865 cars.
However, already in January 2021, the leadership in the Ukrainian market was seized by Chevrolet Bolt with 133 cars versus 107 Nissan Leaf cars, and by the end of the first quarter, the brands were practically equal in registrations.
The press release has not yet clarified the details, including prices and the date of the start of sales of the updated Nissan Leaf.
“This event, which many have been waiting for, became possible thanks to the mid-term plan of Nissan Next and its practical implementation in Ukraine. The official start of sales of Nissan Leaf in Ukraine is the first step in implementing the strategy of promoting Nissan electric vehicles in our country. Closer to the start of sales, we will announce the package, prices and exact dates of the start of sales,” Volodymyr Ivanov, the PR coordinator of Nissan Motor Ukraine, said on his Facebook page.
Nissan Motor Ukraine LLC, a subsidiary of Japan’s Nissan Motor Co, began operations in April 2005, and acts as an importer and distributor of Nissan and Infiniti in Ukraine.
Primary registrations of electric cars in Ukraine in May 2019 grew by almost 50% year-over-year, to 610, while commercial electric vehicles – by 43%, to 33, the Ukrautoprom association has reported. As reported, in April of the current year, the registration of electric cars increased 67.2% to 495 units, commercial electric vehicles – 66.7%, to 40 units.
According to the report on the association’s website, the May market of commercial electric vehicles consisted only of imported used vehicles and was not very diverse. RENAULT Kangoo Z.E. were most popular vehicles, of which 31 units were registered, and the other two vehicles were NISSAN e-NV200.
At the same time, new cars were present in the registrations of passenger electric cars, but there were only 86 of them, while most of electric cars (524 units) were used passenger cars.
NISSAN Leaf remains the most popular electric car among Ukrainians, 329 units of which were registered in May, TESLA Model S is second, with 53 drivers who chose this model.
The May top five also included: BMW i3 – 46 units; FIAT 500e – 24 units; and RENAULT Zoe – 23 units.
In general, in January-May 2019, 2,381 electric cars and 176 commercial vehicles electric were delivered and registered in Ukraine, which is 64% and 209% more than in the same period last year, respectively.
Primary registrations of electric vehicles in Ukraine in January 2019 increased by 2.3 times year-over-year, to 441 units, with used electric cars imported into Ukraine accounting for 91.6% of the total number (404 units), the Ukrautoprom Association has said. The Nissan Leaf make remains the most popular electric car on the Ukrainian market with 231 units registered in January 2019.
The leader among the new electric cars was the Jaguar I-Pace, chosen by 13 owners, while this make was not among used cars registered in Ukraine.
The Top 10 electric vehicles in January included the Nissan Leaf (231 cars), Renault Zoe (29), TESLA Model S (28), BMW i3 (27), FIAT 500e (24), Volkswagen e-Golf (18), Tesla Model X (16), Jaguar I-Pace (13), KIA Soul EV (11), Chevrolet Bolt and Mercedes-Benz B Electric Drive (10 each).
According to the association, Ukrainians bought 5,300 electric vehicles in 2018, which is almost two times more than a year earlier. The share of used cars was 83.5%.
At the same time, demand for new electric vehicles was higher than that for used cars: if primary registrations of used electric vehicles doubled, registration of new ones increased 2.2 times.
The Nissan Leaf remained the most popular electric car in Ukraine, accounting for 64% (3,378 cars) of the primary electric car market, but 94% of the cars were used vehicles imported from abroad. The BMW i3 ranked second with 352 cars bought by Ukrainians (69% of them were used cars). The third place is occupied by the Tesla Model S with 259 sold cars (64% of used cars).
Primary registration of electric cars (new and used) in Ukraine in January-July 2018 grew by 64% year-over-year, to 2,490 cars, the Ukrautoprom association has reported. The share of used cars exceeds 80% – in January-July it was 84%. The Nissan Leaf remained the most popular make in Ukraine: 1,621 cars of this model were registered in Ukraine from January to July 2018. The BMW i3 with 182 cars ranked second in terms of the number of registrations and Tesla Model S was third with 123 cars.
The top ten on the primary market of electric cars in January-July 2018 also included: Mercedes-Benz B Electric Drive – 78 cars; Smart Fortwo – 69 cars; Tesla Model Х – 57 cars; KIA Soul EV – 53 cars; Volkswagen е-Golf – 52 cars; Toyota RAV-4 EV – 46 cars; and FIAT 500е – 37 cars.
In 2017, the primary market of electric passenger cars in Ukraine grew 2.3-fold, to 2,697 units, and the share of used cars was 85%, while in 2016 – 51%.
