Representation of Peugeot, Citroёn, Opel, Jeep brands in Ukraine sold more than 5 thousand cars in 2023

The Stellantis representative office in Ukraine (Peugeot, Citroёn, Opel, DS Automobiles, Jeep) sold approximately 5.1 thousand new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in its dealer network in 2023, taking more than 7% of the market, the representative office’s press service reports.
As reported, in 2022, the share of Stellantis brands, whose sales amounted to 3 thousand units, accounted for 6.84% of the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market.
Thus, in 2023, car sales of the five brands increased by almost 70%, and the market share increased slightly, given that the market for new passenger cars and LCVs grew by 63.5% by 2022 to 65.1 thousand units (including 65.1 thousand passenger cars and about 7.4 thousand commercial vans/vans).
“Thus, the total growth of Stellantis brands exceeded the growth of the new car market in Ukraine by 6%. Moreover, the end of the year was very positive: in December, sporadic sales growth allowed Stellantis to take 9.7% of the market, which may signal a steady increase in sales in 2024,” the press service said.
According to the representative office, Peugeot became the sales leader among the brands (in 2022, Citroen won this position from it – IF-U) with a 74% increase in sales to 2.17 thousand units, which allowed it to take about 3% of the car market (in 2022 – 2.81%).
The best-selling models were the crossovers Peugeot 3008 (470 units) and Peugeot 2008 (348 units), while vans and vans Peugeot Boxer (294 units), Peugeot Partner (168 units) and Peugeot Rifter (144 units) were consistently popular.
Among passenger cars, the Peugeot 301 sedan (198 units) and the new Peugeot 408 crossover fastback (194 units sold in less than a year on the market) were good sellers.
In addition, the company considers the launch of a completely new product – the Peugeot Landtrek pickup truck – a success (225 vehicles sold in less than a year).
Sales of the Citroen brand increased by 58% to more than 2 thousand units, which allowed it to take 2.8% of the market (in 2022 – 2.87%).
Among passenger cars, the most popular models were the large Citroen C5 Aircross crossover (386 units sold), the Citroen C-Elysee sedan (340 units) and the Citroen C3 compact hatchback (196 units), and among commercial vehicles – the large Citroen Jumper (498 units) and the compact Citroen Berlingo (368 units).
“Thanks to the wide LCV lineup, Citroen is becoming a leader in sales of special vehicles and converted vehicles,” the press release states.
Sales of the German brand Opel, according to Stellantis Ukraine, increased by 96.5% last year to 890 units, with a market share of 1.2%, and the best-selling vehicles were the compact Opel Combo (344 units) and the mid-size crossover Opel Grandland (297 units). The compact crossovers Opel Mokka (104 units) and Opel Crosland (74 units) were in good demand.
The premium brand DS Automobiles sold 69 units (in 2022 – 62 units), with the largest number of DS 4 hatchbacks sold (47 units).
The company considers its relaunch by a new importer to be the main achievement for the Jeep brand in the Ukrainian market.
“The comprehensive ‘relaunch’ of the brand in Ukraine took place at the end of 2023, so Jeep’s sales results are not yet indicative. However, 2024 should demonstrate the full strength of the brand, especially given the replenishment of the model lineup,” the press release said.
As reported, the lineup for the brand launch has been formed, price lists have been announced, and new dealerships are starting to operate in the largest cities of Ukraine.
“This year, the model lineup will be complemented by the compact crossover Jeep Avenger, which is already on the market,” the press release said.
The report reminds that Stellantis Ukraine has been providing free repairs of state and municipal vehicles since March 2022: 2.7 thousand vehicles have been repaired to date, more than 10.5 thousand applications for repairs and maintenance have been submitted, and the total cost of work exceeds UAH 75 million.
Stellantis was formed in mid-January 2021 as a result of the merger of PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA).

STELLANTIS GROUP (PEUGEOT, CITROЁN, OPEL) INCREASES CAR SALES BY 35% IN UKRAINE

The Stellantis group in Ukraine (Peugeot, Citroёn, Opel, DS Automobiles) sold 4,689 cars in January-June of this year, which is 35.17% more than in the same period of 2020, increasing its share in the Ukrainian market of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to 8.35% from 8.29% a year earlier, the press service of the group told Interfax-Ukraine.
At the same time, the press service of the company states that in general, sales in the car market during this period also increased by more than a third – by 34.2%, to 53,800 units.
“The automobile market of Ukraine in 2021 shows a constant growth in sales. The deferred demand from 2020, the opening of car dealerships after the lockdowns, the debut of numerous new products, and the development of corporate sales had a positive effect,” the group said in a press release.
At the same time, passenger cars accounted for about 90% of sales on the market (or 48,600 units), commercial – almost 10% (or 5,200 vehicles). Private buyers bought 64% of cars, corporate clients – almost 36% of total sales.
According to Stellantis in Ukraine, while maintaining the current dynamics of market growth, 2021 may end at a milestone: more than 100,000 cars. The company’s success in selling its brands is associated with an active marketing and advertising policy, participation in exhibitions, the constant introduction of new models, the development of corporate sales and related services.

OPEL BRAND IN UKRAINE INCREASES SALES OF CARS BY 84% IN 2020

The Opel brand in Ukraine in 2020 increased sales of cars (passenger cars and LCVs) by 84% compared to 2019, to 732 vehicles with an overall decline of this market by 2.2% (to 95,500 vehicles), the press service of the PSA group’s representative office in Ukraine, Peugeot Citroen Ukraine, has reported.
According to the report, sales growth was primarily driven by well-known models of the brand: the Opel Grandland X crossover (248 vehicles sold, which is 92% more), the Opel Crossland X compact crossover (174 vehicles, twice more) and the Opel Astra sedan (156 vehicles, 28% more).
Last year, several new models also debuted on the Ukrainian market, in particular, the sixth generation Opel Corsa, sales of which began in the middle of the year, and 37 cars were sold at the end of the year.
In addition, sales of Opel Combo commercial vehicles (passenger version of Combo Life and commercial van Combo Cargo) began in 2020, of which 84 were sold.
“Thanks to the launch of the line of commercial vehicles, the Opel brand is returning to the LCV segment again as a serious player and intends to significantly increase sales in 2021,” the press service said, specifying that last year a full line of Opel commercial vehicles was presented in Ukraine: Combo Life, Zafira Life, Combo Cargo, Vivaro, and Movano.
According to the report, despite all the problems and limitations of 2020, Opel continued developing its own dealer network in Ukraine, in particular, two new dealers were opened in the autumn of the year: Addis-Motors (Odesa) and Newton (Cherkasy), which are the only representatives of the brand in these cities.
At the end of the year, the brand’s dealer network includes 11 representative offices (three in Kyiv, one each in Dnipro, Lviv, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Kharkiv, Khmelnitsky, Odesa and Cherkasy), and four service partners who can carry out service without losing the guarantee: in Kyiv (two), Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr.

PEUGEOT CITROEN UKRAINE TO LAUNCH DISTRIBUTION OF OPEL CARS IN UKRAINE FROM 2019

The centralized operational management of sales and servicing of Opel cars in Ukraine from January 1, 2019 will be transferred to the official importer of the PSA group in Ukraine – Peugeot Citroen Ukraine LLC.
Ukraine will be the first market in Eastern Europe where Opel will launch activities “under the wing” of the PSA, the importer said in a press release on Monday, June 25.
The company notes that after the acquisition of the Opel brand in 2017, the PSA group began implementing a new strategy for the development of the brand in the European and world markets. The new stage of development of Opel in Ukraine corresponds to the strategic “PACE!” plan, which will restore the financial framework of the brand, improve competitiveness indicators and accelerate the growth of the Opel company.
“The automotive market of Ukraine retains a high potential for further growth, which makes it a good platform for a new stage in the development of the Opel brand. With the new competitive products, offers in after-sales service and a competently built car dealership network, we intend not only to retain existing customers of the brand, but also to win new ones,” the press service quoted CEO at Peugeot Citroen Ukraine Viktor Kordylevsky as saying.
General Auto Group, part of the UkrAVTO corporation, was engaged in the official distribution of Opel cars in Ukraine since 2003.
Currently, the PSA’s brand portfolio includes Peugeot, Citroёn, DS, Opel and Vauxhall, and also the Free2Move car sharing trademark.
In 2018, PSA plans to boost its share on the market of new passenger cars and commercial vehicles in Ukraine to 6.2% against 4.63% in 2017. The share of Peugeot alone is expected to be 3.75%, and that of Citroёn 2.45% (2.75% and 1.88% in 2017, respectively).
