PIVDENNY SEAPORT CUTS CARGO HANDLING BY 18.6 % IN JAN-APRIL

Pivdenny maritime merchandise port (formerly Yuzhny, Odesa region), the largest seaport in Ukraine in terms of transshipment volume, in January-April 2021 reduced cargo handling by 18.6% compared to January-April 2020, to 16.786 million tonnes.
According to the data on the website of the state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, over four months of 2021, the seaport reduced handling of export cargo by 13.83%, to 13.12 million tonnes, import cargo by 37%, to 1.849 million tonnes, transit cargo by 24.53%, to 1.776 million tonnes, coastal cargo by 61.3%, to 41,040 tonnes.
In terms of the cargo nomenclature, the seaport in January-April 2021 reduced handling of liquid cargo by 18.95%, to 1.725 million tonnes, dry bulk cargo by 17.75%, to 13.993 million tonnes, packaged cargo by 27.84%, to 1.068 million tonnes.
Handling of containers for this period amounted to 64,316 TEU (24.77% less).

PIVDENNY PORT SEES NET PROFIT RISE BY 21 TIMES IN Q1

Pivdenny seaport in January-March 2020 increased its net profit to UAH 221.316 million, which is 21.3 times more (UAH 210.949 million) compared to the same period in 2019.
According to a company press release, 90% of the company’s net profit was transferred to the state.
In total, in the first quarter of 2020, the state stevedore paid taxes of UAH 234.704 million, which is UAH 110.538 million more (89% more) compared with the first quarter of 2019.
“The situation in the world and Ukraine is difficult, and seaports are the key elements of the state’s economy. Pivdenny state stevedore rationally organizes its work and maintains the country’s budget. The record monthly and quarterly performance, the increased daily rate of unloading high-sided wagons and an increased number of processed vessels of the Capesize type – all this was achieved thanks to effective planning and competent coordination of cargo operations,” acting director of Pivdenny port Oleksandr Oliynyk said.
According to the release, in the first quarter of 2020 the port handled almost 4.6 million tonnes of cargo, which is the historic maximum of quarterly transshipment of the state stevedore. The record monthly transshipment was fixed in March at 1.777 million tonnes of cargo. The cargo range includes ore, coal, cast iron, grain and cereals, mineral fertilizers. The bulk was ore (83% of the total volume).
In January-March of this year, almost 3.4 million tonnes of exported cargo passed through the port (52% more from the volume for the same period last year), 3.8 million tonnes of ore were processed (up by 66%).
Positive dynamics is also observed in processing imported goods: the port accepted 688,200 tonnes of cargo (a two-fold increase).

PIVDENNY PORT INCREASES CARGO TRANSSHIPMENT BY 28%

Pivdenny maritime merchandise port in January 2020 handled 4.608 million tonnes of cargo, which is 28.45% more than in January 2019.
According to information from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the period the port increased transshipment of exported cargo by 9.4%, to 3.125 million tonnes, imported freight by 2.5 times, to 0.877 million tonnes, transit by 56%, to 0.606 million tonnes.
The port did not handle coastal cargo in January.
In January 2020, the port raised transshipment of liquid cargo by 16.76%, to 0.414 million tonnes, dry bulk cargo by 41.18%, to 3.91 million tonnes, and reduced transshipment of packaged goods by 38.7%, to 0.284 million tonnes.
Container transshipment amounted to 18,380 TEU (an decrease of 2.49% compared to the same period in 2019).
As reported, the port handled 53.862 million tonnes of cargo in 2019, which is 26.1% more than in 2018.

PIVDENNY PORT SEES 28% RISE IN CARGO HANDLING

State-owned enterprise Pivdenny maritime merchandise port in January-October 2019 handled 43.852 million tonnes of cargo, which is 28.3% more than in January-October 2018.
According to information from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the period the port increased transshipment of exported cargo by 35.7%, to 31.97 million tonnes, imported freight by 3%, to 6.036 million tonnes, transit by 26.3%, to 5.824 million tonnes.
In January-October, the seaport handled only 13.3% of the volume of coastal cargo compared to the same period in 2018, which amounted to 46,000 tonnes.
In January-September, the port raised transshipment of liquid cargo by 10.4%, to 3.673 million tonnes, dry bulk cargo by 35%, to 36.73 million tonnes, and reduced transshipment of packaged goods by 5.6%, to 3.447 million tonnes.
Container transshipment amounted to 169,420 TEU (an increase of 79.2% compared to the same period in 2018).
As reported, in 2018 the port increased transshipment of goods by 1.92% compared to 2017, to 42.702 million tonnes.
Pivdenny port was founded in 1978. It is located on the Adzhalyk firth and is the deepest harbor in Ukraine. The length of its berths is around 2.6 kilometers.

STATE-OWNED PIVDENNY PORT SEES 20% RISE IN CARGO HANDLING

State-owned enterprise Pivdenny maritime merchandise port in October 2019 handled 1.343 million tonnes of cargo, which is 34% and 19.8% more than in October 2018.
“The increase in cargo turnover is linked to an increase in the number of ships with ore, imported steam coal and grain processing products. So, 813,000 tonnes of cargo was exported, 349,000 tonnes were transit cargo, 182,000 tonnes – imported cargo. In October, the company processed 18,849 gondola cars, received and dispatched 18 vessels, “the port’s press service said.
According to the press service, in October, 57% of the Pivdenny port’s cargo transshipment was iron ore concentrate cargoes. In addition, 120,000 tonnes of imported coking coal and 46,000 tonnes of steam coal were handled.
The stevedore also handled over 41,500 tonnes of cereals and products made of them.
Pivdenny port was founded in 1978. It is the deepest one in Ukraine. The total length of the berths is about 2.6 km.

PIVDENNY PORT RAISES CARGO TRANSSHIPMENT BY 60%

Pivdenny seaport in September 2019 handled 1.628 million tonnes of cargo, which exceeds the target by 75.1% and 59% more (604,000 tonnes) than in September 2018.
According to the press service of the port, the enterprise handled 1.213 million tonnes of ore, while imports of coking coal amounted to 195,400 tonnes, steam coal some 110,700 tonnes.
In addition, the stevedore transshipped 55,100 tonnes of pig iron and 32,000 tonnes of imported mineral fertilizers.
The berths operated by the company accepted 21 vessels and 18,400 high-sided wagons.
“At the end of October, we plan to fulfill the annual plan. However, there is no time to stop. In October, we are preparing to accept about 1.5 million tonnes of cargo,” acting director of the port Anatoliy Yablunivsky said.
Pivdenny port was founded in 1978. It is the deepest one in Ukraine. The total length of the berths is about 2.6 km.
