Ukraine increased imports of coke and semi-coke by 8.1 times

In January this year, Ukraine increased imports of coke and semi-coke in physical terms by 8.1 times compared to the same period last year – up to 42,885 thousand tons from 5,289 thousand tons.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS) on Friday, coke imports in monetary terms increased sevenfold to $16.620 million during this period.

In the first month of the year, the country did not export coke, as it did in January-2023.

Imports were carried out mainly from Poland (95.64% of supplies in monetary terms), the Czech Republic (2.77%) and Hungary (1.59%).

As reported, in 2023, Ukraine reduced imports of coke and semi-coke in physical terms by 8.5% compared to 2022 – to 328.697 thousand tons, while imports in monetary terms decreased by 25.8% to $129.472 million.

In 2023, Ukraine exported 3,383 thousand tons of coke, down 12.3% compared to 2022. In monetary terms, it decreased by 22.2% to $787 thousand.

Exports were carried out to Moldova (100% of supplies in monetary terms), while imports were mainly from Poland (88.47%), Colombia (7.72%) and the Czech Republic (3.15%).

In 2022, Ukraine decreased exports of coke and semi-coke in physical terms by 98% compared to the previous year to 3,856 thousand tons, and in monetary terms by 97.6% to $1,011 million. The main exports were made to Hungary (42.63% of supplies in monetary terms), Georgia (37.69%) and Turkey (17.41%).

In 2022, Ukraine imported 359.192 thousand tons of coke and semi-coke, which is 54.5% less than in 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 50.3% to $174.499 million. Imports were carried out mainly from the Russian Federation (43.43% of supplies in monetary terms, before the war), Poland (30.07%) and the Czech Republic (13.15%).

As a result of the war, a number of mines and coke plants are located in the territories temporarily not controlled by Ukraine.

Ukraine reduced exports of coke and semi-coke by 98%

Ukraine in 2022 reduced the export of coke and semi-coke in volume terms by 98% compared to the previous year – up to 3.856 thousand tons, in December export was not carried out.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), exports of coke and semi-coke in monetary terms fell by 97.6% to $1.011 million over the period.
The main export was carried out in Hungary (42.63% of supplies in monetary terms), Georgia (37.69%) and Turkey (17.41%).
Ukraine imported 359.192 thousand tons of coke and semi-coke in 2022, down 54.5% compared to 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 50.3% to $174.499 million.
Imports came mainly from Russia (43.43% of supplies in monetary terms, before the war), Poland (30.07%) and the Czech Republic (13.15%).
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased the export of coke and semi-coke in volume terms by 3.3 times compared to 2020 – up to 194.535 thousand tons. In monetary terms, export of coke and semi-coke during this period rose in 4.8 times – up to $ 41.838 million. The main export was carried out in Kazakhstan (29.03% in monetary terms), Turkey (20.06%) and Algeria (15.77%).
Ukraine imported 789.903 thousand tons of coke and semi-coke in 2021, which is 2.1 times more than in 2020. In monetary terms, imports increased 4.3 times – up to $351.238 million. Imports were carried out mainly from Russia (65.48% of supplies in monetary terms), the Czech Republic (20%) and Poland (8.45%).
As a result of the war, a number of mines and coke and chemical plants were located in territories temporarily outside of Ukraine’s control.

Ukraine reduced export of coke and semi-coke by 98%

Ukraine in January-November this year, exports of coke and semi-coke in physical terms decreased by 98% compared to the same period last year to 3,856 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), in monetary terms, exports of coke and semi-coke during this period fell by 97.6% to $1.011 million.
Ukraine imported 340,451 thousand tons of coke and semi-coke in January-November 2022, down 50.4% from January-November 2021. In monetary terms, imports fell by 42.1% to $168.885 million.
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased the export of coke and semi-coke in volume terms by 3.3 times compared to 2020 – up to 194.535 thousand tons. In monetary terms, export of coke and semi-coke during this period rose in 4.8 times – up to $ 41.838 million. The main exports were carried out in Kazakhstan (29.03% in monetary terms), Turkey (20.06%) and Algeria (15.77%).

UKRAINE RAISES EXPORTS OF COKE BY 8.6 TIMES

Ukraine in January-April this year increased exports of coke and semi-coke in quantity terms by 8.6 times compared to the same period last year, to 91,774 tonnes.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, exports of coke and semi-coke increased by 24.5 times over this period, to $25.006 million.
At the same time, main exports were carried out to Algeria (26.39% of supplies in monetary terms), Turkey (25.71%) and Kazakhstan (24.8%).
Ukraine in January-April 2021 imported 90,527 tonnes of coke and semi-coke, which is 2.5% less compared to January-April 2020. In monetary terms, imports grew by 7.4%, to $22.875 million.
The products were mainly imported from the Russian Federation (52.9% of deliveries in monetary terms), Poland (26.22%) and the Czech Republic (16.18%).

UKRAINE REDUCED COKE AND SEMI-COKE EXPORTS BY 60% YEAR-OVER-YEAR TO 1,856 TONNES IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2019.

According to customs statistics, published by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, coke and semi-coke exports were down 60% in monetary terms, to $504,000.
The majority of deliveries were made to Romania (66.27% in monetary terms), Russia (16.47%) and Moldova (16.47%).
Imports of coke and semi-coke fell by 35.5%, to 168,673 tonnes in January and February 2019, worth $51.463 million (34.7% down). The goods were mainly imported from Russia (89.55% in monetary terms), Poland (8.42%) and the Czech Republic (2.03%).
As reported, Ukraine cut coke and semi-coke exports by 88.6% year-over-year to 25,578 tonnes in 2018. Imports of coke and semi-coke fell by 45.8%, to 839,757 tonnes in 2018, worth $251.724 million (44% down).
Due to hostilities in the eastern part of Ukraine some coalmines and coking plants were left in the Ukrainian government uncontrolled territories.
