Exports of Ukrainian steel semi-finished products fell by 35.5%

In January-October of this year, Ukraine reduced exports of carbon steel semi-finished products in physical terms by 35.5% compared to the same period last year, to 1 million 79,360 thousand tons.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS) on Wednesday, in monetary terms, exports of carbon steel semi-finished products fell by 38% to $512.964 million.
The main exports were mainly to Bulgaria (35.78% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (17.72%), and Turkey (16.54%).

During the period in question, Ukraine imported 83,788 thousand tons of semi-finished products worth $62.282 million, mainly from Oman (35.57%), Germany (23.53%), and the Czech Republic (15.84%), while in the first 10 months of 2024, it imported 15 tons of semi-finished products worth $33 thousand.

As reported, in 2024, Ukraine increased its exports of semi-finished carbon steel products in physical terms by 56.7% compared to 2023, to 1 million 886,090 tons, while revenue in monetary terms increased by 52.4% to $927.554 million. The main exports were to Bulgaria (32.06% of supplies in monetary terms), Egypt (18.50%), and Turkey (11.14%).

In 2024, Ukraine imported 306 tons of semi-finished products worth $278 thousand from the Czech Republic (88.13%), Romania (7.19%), and Poland (2.88%), while in 2023, it imported 96 tons worth $172 thousand.

Ukraine has reduced exports of steel semi-finished products by 76%

Ukraine in January-July this year reduced exports of semi-finished carbon steel products in physical terms by 76.4% compared to the same period last year – to 658.729 thousand tons.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), in monetary terms, exports of semi-finished carbon steel products for this period amounted to $354.178 million (down 62.9%).

The main exports were to Bulgaria (33.71% of shipments in monetary terms), Poland (31.62%) and Turkey (7.45%).

In January-July Ukraine imported from China 92 tons of semi-finished products worth $169 thousand.

As reported, in 2022 Ukraine in physical terms reduced exports of semi-finished carbon steel products by 72% in comparison with the previous year – to 1 million 899.729 thousand tons, in monetary terms by 70.9% – to $1 billion 191.279 million. The main exports were to Bulgaria (26.55% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (13.97%) and Italy (12.13%).

In addition, Ukraine imported 5.558 thousand tons of similar products in 2022, which is 85.7% less than in 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 86% to $3.634 mln. Imports were made from Russia (96.92% of supplies – before the war), China (1.84%) and Romania (1.21%).

Ukraine reduced export of steel semi-finished products by 67%

Ukraine in January-August this year reduced the export of semi-finished products from carbon steel in kind by 66.6% compared to the same period last year – up to 1 million 589.419 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), in monetary terms, the export of semi-finished products from carbon steel over this period decreased by 63.5% – to $1 billion 8.882 million.
The main exports were to Bulgaria (21.91% of supplies in monetary terms), Italy (13.96%) and Turkey (12.22%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 5,532 thousand tons of such products in January-August, which is 64% less than in January-August 2021. In monetary terms, imports decreased by 63.4% – to $ 3.576 million. Imports were carried out from the Russian Federation (98.49% of deliveries), Romania (1.23%) and China (0.25%).
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 reduced the export of semi-finished products from carbon steel in physical terms by 9.5% compared to 2020, to 6 million 776.44 thousand tons. In monetary terms, the export of semi-finished products from carbon steel increased by 48.8% over the year to $4 billion 93.02 million. The main exports were to Italy (30.90% of supplies in monetary terms), Turkey (12.77%) and the Republic (8.02%).
In addition, Ukraine imported 38.97 thousand tons of such products in 2021, which is 2.6 times more than in 2020. In monetary terms, imports increased by 3.9 times – up to $25.95 million. Imports were carried out from the Russian Federation (97.73% of deliveries), Turkey (1.15%) and Uzbekistan (1.08%).
