Ukraine has almost stopped exporting titanium-containing ores this year

Ukraine in January-June this year reduced exports of titanium-containing ores and concentrate in physical terms by 96.1% compared to the same period last year – to 6.196 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS) on Monday, in monetary terms, exports of titanium-containing ores and concentrate decreased by 82.9% to $10.386 million.
At the same time, the main exports were to Turkey (32.05% of supplies in monetary terms), Japan (30.91%) and India (9.35%).
Ukraine did not import these products during this period.
As reported, Ukraine in 2022 reduced exports of titanium-containing ores and concentrate in physical terms by 41.8% year-on-year to 322.143 thousand tons, in monetary terms by 19.6% to $130.144 million. The main exports were to the Czech Republic (47.91% of shipments in monetary terms), the United States (11.94%) and Romania (9.75%).
Ukraine in 2022 imported 196 tons of similar products from Senegal (70.41%) and Turkey (29.59%) for $115 thousand.
In Ukraine, titanium-containing ores are currently mined mainly by United Mining and Chemical Company PJSC (UMCC), which has taken over Volnogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (VGMK, Dnepropetrovsk region) and Irshansk Mining and Processing Combine (IGOK, Zhytomyr region), as well as by Mezhdurechensky GOK LLC and Valki-Ilmenit LLC (both located in Irshansk, Zhytomyr region).
In addition, production and commercial firm “Velta” (Dnipro) built a mining and processing plant at Birzulovskoye deposit with a capacity of 240 thousand tons of ilmenite concentrate per year.

Ukraine cuts exports of titanium-containing ores by 11 times

Ukraine in January this year reduced the export of titanium ores and concentrates in physical terms by 10.99 times compared to the same period last year – up to 2.066 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), exports of titanium ores and concentrates decreased 3.5 times in monetary terms – to $3.308 million.
At the same time, the main exports were shipped to Japan (72.22% in monetary terms), Egypt (13.94%) and Turkey (11.03%).
Ukraine in this period, as well as in January 2022, did not import these products.
As previously reported, in 2022, Ukraine reduced the export of titanium ore and concentrate in volume terms by 41.8% YoY – to 322.143 thousand tons, in monetary terms by 19.6% – to $130.144 million.
At the same time, the main export was carried out in the Czech Republic (47.91% in monetary terms), the U.S. (11.94%) and Romania (9.75%).
In 2022, Ukraine imported 196 tons of similar products from Senegal (70.41%) and Turkey (29.59%) for $115 thousand.
In Ukraine, the titaniferous ores are currently mined mainly at the United Mining and Chemical Company PJSC (UMCP), which controls Volnogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Works (VMMC, Dnepropetrovsk Region) and Irshansk Mining and Processing Works (IGOK, Zhitomir Region), as well as at Mezhdurechensk Mining and Processing LLC and Valki-Ilmenite LLC (both Irshansk, Zhitomir Region).
In addition, the production and commercial firm VELTA (Dnipro) has built a GOK at the Birzulovskoye deposit with a capacity of 240 thousand tons of ilmenite concentrate per year.

Ukraine in 2022 decreased export of titanium ores and concentrates in physical terms by 41.8% compared to the previous year – down to 322.143 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (SCS), exports of titanium ores and concentrates decreased by 19.6% in monetary terms – to $130.144 million.
At the same time, the main exports were shipped to the Czech Republic (47.91% in monetary terms), USA (11.94%) and Romania (9.75%).
Ukraine in 2022 imported 196 tons of similar products from Senegal (70.41%) and Turkey (29.59%) for $ 115 thousand (in October-December 2022, imports were not carried out), while in 2021 it imported 1.172 tons for $1.227 million.
As previously reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased the export of titanium ores and concentrates in volume terms by 3% compared with 2020 – up to 553.051 thousand tons, in monetary terms the export of titanium ores and concentrates increased by 17% – to $161.914 million. At that, the main exports were shipped to Mexico (21.23% in monetary terms), China (18.17%) and Czech Republic (14.07%).
Ukraine imported 1.172 thousand tons of titanium ores for $1.227 million from Senegal (87.03%) and Germany (12.97%) in 2021, while in 2020 it imported 1.010 tons for $ 855 thousand.

Ukraine reduced export of titanium-containing ores and concentrate by 40.8%

Ukraine in January-September this year reduced the export of titanium-containing ores and concentrate in kind by 40.8% compared to the same period last year – up to 244.076 thousand tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (STS), in monetary terms, the export of titanium-bearing ores and concentrate decreased by 10.4% to $98.542 million.
At the same time, the main exports were to the Czech Republic (48.94% of supplies in monetary terms), the USA (12.53%) and Romania (6.59%).
Ukraine in January-September 2022 imported 196 tons of similar products from Senegal (70.41%) and Turkey (29.59%) in the amount of $115 thousand, while in January-September 2021 it imported 832 tons of titanium-bearing ores in the amount of $798 thousand from Senegal (80.05%) and Germany (19.95%).
As reported, Ukraine in 2021 increased the export of titanium-bearing ores and concentrate in physical terms by 3% compared to 2020 – up to 553.051 thousand tons, in monetary terms, the export of titanium-bearing ores and concentrate increased by 17% – up to $161.914 million. the main exports were to Mexico (21.23% of deliveries in monetary terms), China (18.17%) and the Czech Republic (14.07%).
In 2021, Ukraine imported 1.172 thousand tons of titanium-containing ores worth $1.227 million from Senegal (87.03%) and Germany (12.97%), while in 2020 it imported 1.010 thousand tons worth $855 thousand.
In Ukraine, at present, titanium-bearing ores are mined mainly in the PJSC “United Mining and Chemical Company” (OGCC), under whose management the Volnogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (VGMK, Dnepropetrovsk region) and the Irshansky mining and processing plant (IGOK, Zhytomyr region) were transferred .), as well as LLC “Mezhdurechensky GOK” and LLC “Valki-Ilmenit” (both LLC – Irshansk, Zhytomyr region).
In addition, the production and commercial company “Velta” (Dnepr) built a mining and concentration complex at the Birzulovsky deposit with a capacity of 240,000 tons of ilmenite concentrate per year.
