Ukrainian transport companies carried 624 million passengers in January-March 2021, which is 30.5% less than in the first quarter of 2020, the State Statistics Service reported.
The passenger turnover of transport enterprises in the specified period amounted to 12.3 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 35.3% less than in January-March last year.
According to the State Statistics Service, 17 million passengers used railway transport in the first quarter of 2021 (including city commuter trains), which is 39.3% less than in the same period in 2020, and 258.7 million passengers used road transport (less by 32.6%).
Air transport reduced passenger traffic by 44.2%, to 1.1 million people.
In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, in the first quarter of 2021, some 92.4 million passengers used trams (less by 32.6% versus January-March 2020), metro carried 112.8 million people (less by 19%), trolleybuses some 142 million people (less by 31.5%).
The transport enterprises of Ukraine (excluding the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the JFO area) in January-July 2019 increased freight transportation by 8.5% compared to the same period of 2018, to 386.5 million tonnes, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to its data, freight turnover for the period rose by 2.6%, to 196.3 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistics, in January-July 2019 rail transportation inside the country and for exports amounted to 152.1 million tonnes of cargo, which is 0.9% less than in January-July 2018.
Transportation of timber cargo decreased by 59.5%, construction materials by 22.8%, scrap metal by 16.4%, coke by 13.7%, coal by 5.7%, ferrous metals by 4.0%, and cement by 5.8%.
At the same time, transportation of oil and petroleum products rose by 6.4%, iron and manganese ore by 4.7%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 24%, grain and cereals by 24.8%.
In the total volume of cargo transportation by sea overseas accounted for 46.9%.
The volume of cargo transported by pipeline in January-July 2019 grew compared with January-July 2018. Thus, ammonia transportation increased by 8.3%, gas transportation by 1.4%. At the same time, oil pumping and oil transit decreased by 10.1% and 12.9% respectively. Ammonia transit increased by 7%, gas transit by 4.4%.
The transport companies of Ukraine in January-July 2019 carried 2.474 billion people, which is 6.1% less than in the same period of 2018, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to its data, the passenger traffic of transport companies for the reporting period amounted to 62.6 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 4.3% more than in January-July last year.
According to the State Statistics Service, in the first seven months, 91.9 million passengers were transported by rail (taking into account the city electric train), which is 0.6% less than in January-July 2018, and 1.055 billion passengers were carried by road (5.5% less).
Air transport increased passenger traffic by 11.2%, to 7.6 million people.
In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, in January-July 2019, some 359.8 million passengers used the services of trams (a decrease of 10% compared to the same period in 2018), 411.3 million travelled by subway (a decrease of 1.6%), and 548.3 million people used trolleybuses (a drop of 8.9%).
Passenger transportation by water increased by 14.3% compared with January-July 2018, to 0.4 million people.
The service said the figures are given excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The transport enterprises of Ukraine in January-June 2019 increased freight transportation by 8.2% compared to the same period of 2018, to 328.5 million tonnes, the State Statistics Service has reported. According to its data, freight turnover for the period rose by 3%, to 167.5 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistics, in January-June 2019 rail transportation inside the country and for exports amounted to 129.9 million tonnes of cargo, which is 0.6% less than in January-June 2018.
Transportation of timber cargo decreased by 59.3%, construction materials by 24.9%, scrap metal by 13.3%, coke by 12.7%, coal by 4.9%, ferrous metals by 2.9%, and cement by 6.1%.
At the same time, transportation of oil and petroleum products rose by 3.2%, iron and manganese ore by 5.6%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 17.7%, grain and cereals by 23.6%.
The volume of cargo transported by pipeline in January-June 2019 grew compared with January-June 2018. Thus, ammonia transportation increased by 12.4%, gas transportation by 1.9%. At the same time, oil pumping decreased by 9.3%. Ammonia transit increased by 10.9%, gas transit by 6.1%. Oil transit fell by 12.1%.
Transport enterprises of Ukraine in January-March 2019 increased cargo transportation by 8.9% compared to January-March 2018, to 163.3 million tonnes.
The State Statistics Service said freight turnover for this period increased by 2.2%, to 81 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistical data, in January-March 2019 some 64 million tonnes of cargo were transported by rail within the country and for exports, which is 0.2% less than in January-March 2018.
Transportation of scrap ferrous metals decreased by 27.9%, timber by 58.5%, construction materials by 26.1%, coke by 10.4%, ferrous metals by 5.6%, and coal by 2.6%. At the same time, transportation of iron and manganese ore grew by 4.1%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 5.5%, grain and cereals by 19.8%, oil and petroleum products by 11.5%, and cement by 14.6%.
In the total volume of cargo transportation by sea overseas accounted for 61.4%. The volume of overseas cargo transportation in the reporting period decreased by 2.7% compared with January-March 2018.
In January-March 2019 compared with the same period last year, the volume of cargo transported by pipelines increased. Thus, gas pumping grew by 4.6%, oil – by 5.5%, gas transit fell by 2.7%, and oil grew by 4.9%. Pumping and transit of ammonia increased 24.7% and 21.3%, respectively.
