277 UKRAINIAN CITIZENS RETURN FROM NEW YORK

One more commercial special flight to Ukraine was done on May 26 to bring Ukrainian citizens home during the quarantine.
“Another 277 citizens come back home from the United States. A special commercial plane brought people from New York. This is the ninth special flight organized by Ukraine during the quarantine,” Embassy of Ukraine in the United States reported on Facebook.

UKRAINIAN ENTERPRISES INCREASE IMPORT OF COPPER BY 24%

Ukrainian enterprises increased imports of copper and copper products in terms of money by 23.9% in January-October 2019 compared with similar period of 2018, to $102.527 million. Exports of copper and copper products decreased 45.4% over the year to $63.176 million, according to customs statistics released by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
In October, copper and copper products were imported to the tune of $14.68 million, and copper exports were estimated at $5.102 million.
In addition, in January-October 2019, Ukraine decreased imports of nickel and products made of it by 16.4%, to $68.821 million (imports in October were estimated at $6.17 million), while imports of aluminum and products made of it increased 1.1%, to $334.166 million ($37.979 million). Imports of lead and products made of it decreased by 1.7%, to $12.682 million ($2.123 million) and imports of tin and products made of it decreased 13.6%, to $3.391 million ($0.545 million). Imports of zinc and zinc goods decreased 14%, to $62.036 million ($5.873 million).
Exports of aluminum and products made of it decreased 26.1% in January-October 2019, to $84.871 million ($7.876 million in October alone), while shipments of lead abroad decreased 24.3%, to $22.396 million ($3.227 million). Exports of nickel fell by 41.1%, to $4.115 million ($0.242 million in October).
Zinc exports in January-October 2019 amounted to $0.463 million ($0.001 million in October) compared to $0.274 in January-October 2018.
Exports of tin and products made of it in January-October 2019 were estimated at $0.034 million ($0.001 million in October) compared to $0.311 million in January-October 2018.

UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT PROPOSES TO FOUNDER OF ALIBABA GROUP JACK MA TO OPEN R&D CENTER

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed to the founder of Alibaba Group Jack Ma to open an R&D center in Ukraine for expanding operations in Europe.
Zelensky expressed interest in cooperation during a meeting with Ma in Kyiv, the president’s press service reported last week.
“We have very ambitious goals. We want to completely reboot Ukraine so that people like you appear in the country,” Zelensky said during the meeting.
He told Ma about the State in a Smartphone project and stressed the importance of digital technology in transforming the country. He said that he was interested in joint educational projects in the field of information technology.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine has one of the best data analytics specialists in the world and can offer a really strong expertise to create a data analytics and artificial intelligence center.

3,000 UKRAINIAN HOUSEHOLDS INSTALL PV PANELS IN Q3 2019

Around 3,000 households in the period from July through September 2019 installed photovoltaic (PV) panels with a total capacity of almost 70 MW, the press service of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving said on the website on Tuesday.
“The switch to clean electricity allows saving money on electricity bills, encourages the use of energy-efficient appliances, changes behavior to energy-saving,” the agency said.
According to the report, as of October 1, 2019, about 15,000 households in Ukraine are already using clean electricity by investing EUR 300 million in PV panels. The total capacity of the installed PV panels is almost 350 MW.
The leaders among the regions in the use of alternative generation are: Dnipropetrovsk region (around 50 MW), Ternopil (near 37 MW) and Kyiv (some 27 MW).

UKRAINIAN TENNIS PLAYER ELINA SVITOLINA REACHES U.S. OPEN SEMIFINAL

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has made it to the semifinals of the season’s final tournament of the U.S. Open, the organization said on its Twitter account.
Svitolina held the quarterfinal match of the U.S. Open against the British Johanna Konta, which lasted 1 hour 40 minutes.
The Ukrainian tennis player held the match without making a single double mistake, making four aces and gave only two aces of her – 6:4, 6:4.
In the semifinals of the U.S. Open, Svitolina will play with the winner of the pair Serena Williams – Wang Qiang.

REVENUES OF UKRAINIAN POPULATION IN JAN-MARCH 2019 AMOUNTES TO UAH 803.4 BLN

The revenues of the population of Ukraine in January-March 2019 amounted to UAH 803.4 billion, expenses some UAH 852.4 billion, while savings decreased by UAH 49 billion, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to the agency, in January-March 2019 compared with the same period in 2018, the nominal income of the population increased by 15.5%.
According to the report, real disposable income, determined by the price factor, grew by 7.7% in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of 2018
Disposable income per capita for the first three months of the current year amounted to UAH 14,398, which is UAH 3,028 more than in the same period of 2018.
Expenditures of the population in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year rose by 20.8%
