The Continental Farmers Group (CFG) agricultural holding has allocated 73,000 hectares for winter crops and 108,100 hectares for spring crops in its crop structure for 2026, the company’s press service reported on Facebook.
According to the report, winter wheat occupies 35,370 hectares, winter rapeseed — 27,400 hectares, and winter barley — 10,280 hectares in the winter crop structure.
The agricultural holding is currently completing preparations for the active phase of spring field work, which has been slightly delayed due to the cold and prolonged winter. Monitoring by agronomists has confirmed the successful overwintering of crops, and the risks of replanting are not being considered.
“Due to the prolonged snow cover and the risk of washout, nitrogen fertilization was not carried out in February, as in previous years. All operations are being postponed until March, which will increase the intensity of work if fertilization, winter crop protection, and preparation for spring sowing coincide in one window,” said Konstantin Shityuk, COO of Continental.
The agricultural holding clarified that snow cover of 10 to 30 cm protected winter crops from freezing at temperatures down to -25°C in the fields of Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. There is currently no rapid runoff in the areas thanks to unfrozen soil, which absorbs meltwater.
Continental’s agronomists expect that the temperature regime in March and early April will determine the pace of spring vegetation and form an optimal window for wheat tillering, which will allow the potential of late sowing to be realized.
The Mriya agricultural holding and CFG, united under the name Continental Farmers Group, have been operating as a single business since November 2018, when Mriya signed an agreement with international investor Salic UK to sell its assets.
Salic was founded in 2012. Its sole shareholder is the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, which invests in agricultural and livestock production.
As of November 25, 2025, Ukrainian farmers have sown 6.429 million hectares of winter crops, or 98.1% of the projected production area, while on November 26 last year, 6.14 million hectares were sown.
According to data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture published on its website, Ukrainian farmers have already sown 5.34 million hectares of winter grain crops, compared to 5.06 million hectares a year ago.
At the same time, 4.69 million hectares (4.38 million hectares) were sown with winter wheat, 586,100 hectares (611,100 hectares) with barley, and 66,300 hectares (68,600 hectares) with rye.
Chernivtsi and Cherkasy regions are among the leaders in grain crops. Grain sowing has already been completed in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, and Chernihiv regions, according to the report.
According to the report, as of November 25, rapeseed had been planted on an area of 1.084 million hectares (last year – 1.08 million hectares), which is 96.5% of the projected area. Farmers in all regions have virtually completed sowing.
The Ministry of Economy previously published forecast figures for the area sown with winter crops for the 2026 harvest. Ukrainian farmers are expected to reduce the area sown with winter crops by 5.1% to 5.368 million hectares. At the same time, the area under winter wheat will be reduced by 4.4% to 4.778 million hectares, winter barley by 2.7% to 576,100 hectares, and winter rapeseed by 5.5% to 1.114 million hectares. At the same time, winter rye crops will increase by 7.6% to 69.3 thousand hectares.
Agrane Agro Holding has completed the harvest of winter grains and oilseeds in the 2024/25 season on 19 thou hectares in Odesa region, the company’s press service reports.
The agricultural holding specified that it harvested winter wheat from an area of over 6 thou hectares, winter rapeseed from over 7 thou hectares, winter barley from over 4 thou hectares, and winter peas from over 1 thou hectares.
Agrane harvested the crops using modern high-performance machinery, which minimized crop losses, accelerated the pace of work, and maintained high grain quality. The yields for most crops met the targets and in some places even exceeded them, the report says.
It is specified that currently the entire harvest is delivered to Agrane elevators, where it undergoes multi-level quality control and, if necessary, is dried before storage.
“It is crucial for us not only to organize a fast and well-coordinated harvesting process, but also to ensure that the crops remain of high quality. We carefully plan each stage of the campaign – from monitoring crop maturation to logistics and preparing the infrastructure for grain storage,” said Taras Kornienko, Chief Agronomist of Agrane Group.
“Agrain is engaged in the cultivation and storage of grains and oilseeds, as well as livestock farming. Before the full-scale Russian invasion, the agricultural holding included 11 agricultural enterprises. It cultivated about 110,000 hectares in Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Cherkasy regions.
The holding is owned by SAS Investcompagnie (France).
The agricultural production department of one of the largest grain market operators in Ukraine, Nibulon JV LLC, has fertilized winter crops on 7820 hectares, which is 48.3% of the total area planted for the 2025 harvest, the agricultural holding’s press service reports on Facebook.
“Currently, we are actively applying ammonium nitrate, one of the most effective nitrogen fertilizers that provides plants with the necessary macronutrients for healthy growth and development. Timely application of this fertilizer significantly affects the final yield of winter crops,” the agricultural holding explained.
Nibulon plans to fertilize a total area of 16.2 thou hectares with ammonium nitrate, including 8.6 thou hectares of winter wheat and 7.6 thou hectares of winter rapeseed. In addition to ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate will be added to improve plant nutrition efficiency.
Currently, winter crops have been fertilized on a total area of 7,820 hectares, including 5,602 hectares in Mykolaiv cluster, 1,970 hectares in Central cluster and 248 hectares in Kamianets-Podilskyi cluster.
After fertilizing winter crops, the fields will be harrowed and plant protection products will be applied.
“The implementation of these agrotechnical measures in the complex will ensure the creation of optimal conditions for the growth and development of winter crops, which, in turn, will help to increase their yield and maintain high quality products,” the agricultural holding summarized.
Nibulon JV LLC was established in 1991. Prior to the Russian military invasion, the grain trader had 27 transshipment terminals and crop reception complexes, a capacity for simultaneous storage of 2.25 million tons of agricultural products, a fleet of 83 vessels (including 23 tugs), and owned the Mykolaiv Shipyard.
“Before the war, Nibulon cultivated 82 thousand hectares of land in 12 regions of Ukraine and exported agricultural products to more than 70 countries. In 2021, the grain trader exported the highest ever volume of 5.64 million tons of agricultural products, reaching record volumes of supplies to foreign markets in August – 0.7 million tons, in the fourth quarter – 1.88 million tons, and in the second half of the year – 3.71 million tons.
Nibulon’s losses due to Russia’s full-scale military invasion in 2022 exceeded $416 million.
Currently, the grain trader is operating at 32% of capacity, has created a special unit to clear agricultural land of mines, and was forced to move its headquarters from Mykolaiv to Kyiv.
