HARVESTING OF EARLY GRAINS BEGAN IN KHARKIV REGION – LOCAL AUTHORITIES

Harvesting of early grains has begun in Kharkiv region, the press service of the regional military administration reported with reference to the department of agro-industrial development.
“To date, the first mowing of winter barley and wheat has been made. Some 1,292 tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops have been harvested from an area of 450 hectares, or 0.1% of the harvested area (438,200 hectares)… In terms of crops threshed: winter wheat – 866 tonnes from an area of 345 hectares (0.1% of the harvested area), the average yield is 25.1 centners per ha; winter barley – 426 tonnes from an area of 106 hectares (0.1% of the harvested area), yield – 40.2 centners per hectare,” the press service of Kharkiv regional military administration told an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.
This year, in Kharkiv region, farmers sowed 438,200 hectares with early cereals and legumes (excluding temporarily occupied territories and zones of active hostilities), of which wheat (winter and spring) – 348,900 hectares; barley (winter and spring) – 73,100 ha; rye – 1,400 hectares; oats – 2,700 hectares (54%); and peas – 12,100 hectares.
The Department of Agro-Industrial Development also noted that as of July 5, according to the recent data of the district administrations, 22,600 hectares (1.2% of the total arable land) need to be cleared or surveyed for the presence of sites contaminated with explosive objects. We are talking about farmland in Bohodukhiv (12,000 hectares); Kharkiv (2,580 ha) and Chuhuiv (8,090 d ha) districts of the region.
“On the territories of Izium, Kupiansk, partially Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv and Chuhuiv districts, hostilities continue, therefore, information about the territories that require examination for the presence of explosive objects in Kharkiv region is constantly changing and being updated,” the press service quoted the department.

UKRAINE ALREADY HARVESTS 43.7 MLN TONNES OF EARLY GRAINS

From the beginning of the harvesting campaign as of August 20, Ukrainian farmers have harvested 43.7 million tonnes (4.2 million tonnes more per week from August 13 to August 20) of early grains and legumes, as well as oilseeds from an area of 9.2 million hectares (98% of the forecast).
According to the Information and Analytical Portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine, in the context of crops, the following were threshed: wheat of 32 million tonnes from an area of 6.9 million hectares (98% of the total area under this crop), barley of 10.27 million tonnes from 2.4 million hectares (99%), rapeseed of 2.7 million tonnes from 1 million hectares (99%), peas of 560,000 tonnes from 24,000 hectares (99%).
It is specified that in six regions the grain harvest exceeded 3 million tones, namely in Kharkiv (3.45 million tonnes), Odesa (3.39 million tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk (3.36 million tonnes), Mykolaiv (3.25 million tonnes), Zaporizhia (3.22 million tonnes) and Kherson (3.11 million tonnes) regions.
According to the portal, the average yield of harvested wheat was 46.2 dt/ha, barley was 41.0 dt/ha, rape was 27.5 dt/ha, peas was 23.2 dt/ha.
The portal said the harvesting of early grains, legumes and rapeseed was completely completed by the agrarians from 12 regions. At the same time, wheat harvesting has been completed in 15 regions, barley in 17 regions, peas in 23 regions.
Agricultural producers of Khmelnytsky region became the leader in average grain yield, reaching 60.9 dt/ha. Farms in Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Ternopil and Cherkasy regions have an average yield exceeding 50 dt/ha.
According to the portal, the agrarians of Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Poltava and Sumy regions started to collect buckwheat, and Mykolaiv and Kherson regions – millet.

UKRAINE HARVESTS 21.6 MLN TONNES OF EARLY GRAINS AND LEGUMINOUS CROPS FROM 63% OF AREA

Ukraine as of July 19, 2019 had threshed early grains and leguminous crops on an area of 6.1 million hectares (63% of the forecast), harvesting 21.6 million tonnes of grain, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has reported.
According to its data, farmers harvested 15.4 million tonnes of wheat from an area of 4.1 million hectares (63% of the forecast), 5.6 million tonnes of barley from 1.7 million hectares (69% of the forecast), 537,000 tonnes of peas from an area of 237,000 hectares (84% of the forecast).
In addition, farmers harvested 32,000 tonnes of rye from 12,000 hectares (10% of the forecast) and 12,000 tonnes of oats from 5,000 hectares (3%).
Farmers continue harvesting winter rapeseeds, having threshed 2.4 million tonnes from an area of 1 million hectares (79% of the forecast).
As reported, the ministry predicts the increase in the grain yield in 2019 under favorable conditions to 70.8 million tonnes against 70.1 million tonnes in 2018.
The USDA estimates grain harvest in Ukraine this year at 72.6 million tonnes, exports at 51.4 million tonnes.

UKRAINE THRESHES EARLY GRAINS FROM 91% OF AREAS BY AUG 8

Ukraine as of August 8 had threshed 30.7 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 8.9 million hectares (91% of the forecast for these crops) with the yield being 34.3 centners per ha. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, farmers harvested 22.8 million tonnes of winter wheat from 6.1 million hectares (95% of the forecast) with the yield of 37.4 centners/ha, 285,000 tonnes of spring wheat from 87,000 hectares (44%) with a yield of 32.9 centners/ha, 3 million tonnes of winter barley from 865,000 hectares (99%) with the yield being 35 centners per ha, 3.4 million tonnes of spring barley from 1.3 million hectares (82%) with a yield of 25.5 centners/ha, and 737,000 tonnes of peas from 406,000 hectares (94%) with a yield of 18.1 centners/ha.
The country also harvested 278,000 tonnes of rye from 107,000 hectares (72%) with a yield of 26.1 centners/ha and 151,000 tonnes of oats from 68,000 hectares (34%) with a yield of 22.3 centners/ha.
In addition, farmers threshed 2.5 million tonnes of winter rapeseeds from 965,000 hectares (99%) with a yield of 26.2 centners per ha and 45,000 tonnes of spring rapeseeds from 22,000 hectares (34%) with the yield standing at 20.6 centners/ha.
