UKRAINE SELLS 6 TIMES MORE UNTREATED TIMBER IN Q1

The Ukrainian Energy Exchange in the first quarter of 2021 sold untreated timber at auctions for a total of UAH 375.5 million, which is 5.83 times more than in the same period last year, the exchange reported in a press release.
According to its data, the bulk of the timber sold is the products of the Kyiv regional (including Kyiv) department of forestry and hunting. Common oak, common pine, alder, birch are in the greatest demand.
“Auctions for the sale of untreated timber is an absolutely transparent and open way to sell timber of Ukrainian origin. Competition at the exchange auctions sometimes reaches 10-15 participants per lot, contributing to the formation of fair market prices,” head of the exchange committee Oleksiy Dubovsky said.
As reported, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources in September 2020 offered to sell 100% of unprocessed wood at electronic auctions, and not 25%, as provided for by the government’s pilot project approved in December 2019. At the same time, ProZorro.Sale together with partners-electronic platforms has already introduced new convenient interfaces to accelerate and simplify the participation of buyers.

SALE OF ENERGY ON UKRAINIAN ENERGY EXCHANGE GROWS BY 36% IN 2018

Sale of energy on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange in 2018 grew by 36%, to UAH 15 billion.
According to a posting on the website of the exchange, a total of 34 million tonnes of various types of energy (coal, fuel, liquefied gas, crude oil, methanol and other resources) and 160 million cubic meters of natural gas were sold.
The number of deals grew by 32% in 2018, from 7,500 to 9,900.
“Last year, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange significantly expanded the circle of participants in the BETS electronic trading system, of which there are now 654,” the exchange said.
The exchange also recalled that in September 2018, it launched an information trading platform for entering into transactions on the OTC market (daily gas balancing). It sold 4.4 million cubic meters of gas.
At the beginning of December 2018, the exchange posted the first lots for the sale of licenses for the use of subsoil issued by the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine. Bids for participation in these auctions are already being accepted.
