TRANSPORT COMPANIES OF UKRAINE REDUCE PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN H1

The transport companies of Ukraine in January-June 2019 carried 2.137 billion people, which is 6.3% less than in the same period of 2018, the State Statistics Service has reported. According to its data, the passenger traffic of transport companies for the reporting period amounted to 52.2 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 3.8% more than in January-June last year. According to the State Statistics Service, in the first six months, 78.3 million passengers were transported by rail (taking into account the city electric train), which is 0.3% more than in January-June 2018, and 907 million passengers were carried by road (5.6% less).
Air transport increased passenger traffic by 8.3%, to 5.9 million people.
In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, in January-June 2019 some 313 million passengers used the services of trams (a decrease of 10% compared to the same period in 2018), 355 million travelled by subway (a decrease of 1.9%), and 477.6 million people used trolleybuses (a drop of 9.1%).
Passenger transportation by water increased by 4.5% compared with January-June 2018, to 200,000 people.
The service said the figures are given excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

UKRAINE’S TRANSPORT COMPANIES INCREASE CARGO TRANSPORTATION BY ALMOST 9.1%

Transport enterprises of Ukraine in January-April 2019 increased cargo transportation by 9.1% compared to January-April 2018, to 218.7 million tonnes. The State Statistics Service said freight turnover for this period increased by 2.8%, to 110.2 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistical data, in January-March 2019, some 86.2 million tonnes of cargo were transported by rail within the country and for exports, which is 0.4% less than in January-April 2018.
Transportation of timber decreased by 59.9%, construction materials by 24%, scrap ferrous metals by 17.7%, coke by 9.2%, ferrous metals by 3.9%, and coal by 4%. At the same time, transportation of iron and manganese ore grew by 3.8%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 4%, grain and cereals by 19.9%, oil and petroleum products by 6.8%, and cement by 10.9%.
In January-April 2019 compared with the same period last year, the volume of cargo transported by pipelines increased. Thus, gas pumping fell by 0.4%, oil rose by 5.5%, gas transit grew by 5.6%, and oil grew by 5.7%. Pumping and transit of ammonia increased 20.8% and 17.7%, respectively.

UKRAINE’S TRANSPORT COMPANIES INCREASE FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION BY 6%

Transport enterprises of Ukraine (excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of Donbas) in January and February 2019 increased cargo transportation by 5.9% compared to January and February 2018, to 103.1 million tonnes.
The State Statistics Service said freight turnover for this period increased by 2.9%, to 52.1 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistical data, in January and February 2019 some 40.5 million tonnes of cargo were transported by rail within the country and for exports, which is 4.2% less than in January and February 2018.
Transportation of scrap ferrous metals decreased by 55.6%, timber by 55.2%, construction materials by 35.2%, coke by 12.7%, ferrous metals by 9.8%, cement by 6.7%, coal by 1.7%. At the same time, transportation of iron and manganese ore grew by 0.7%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 1.4%, grain and cereals by 19.5%, and oil and petroleum products by 24.8%.
In the total volume of cargo transportation by sea overseas accounted for 76.9%. The volume of overseas cargo transportation in the reporting period decreased by 21.6% compared with January and February 2018.
In January and February 2019 compared with the same period last year, the volume of cargo transported by pipelines increased. Thus, gas pumping grew by 5.7%, oil – by 2.8%, gas transit – by 15%, and oil – by 3.1%. Pumping and transit of ammonia increased 21.4% and 18.1%, respectively.

TRANSPORT COMPANIES OF UKRAINE SLIGHTLY REDUCE CARRIAGE OF GOODS IN JAN-JULY

The transport enterprises of Ukraine in January-July 2018 reduced transportation of goods by 1% compared to January-July 2017, to 356.3 million tonnes. According to the State Statistics Service, freight turnover for this period decreased by 1.7%, to 191.3 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistical data, in January-July 2018 railways transported 185.4 million tonnes of cargo inside the country and for export, which is 4.4% less than in January-July 2017.
Transportation of coal decreased by 9.7%, oil and petroleum products by 12.4%, grain and cereals by 15.4%, cement by 5%, construction materials by 7.2%, and timber by 6.2%. At the same time, the handling of coke grew by 0.4%, ferrous metals by 2.6%, chemical and mineral fertilizers by 6%, iron and manganese ore by 4%, and scrap metal by 5.7%.
Product pumping through pipelines in January-July 2018 in comparison with January-July 2017 declined by 2.1%, to 64.4 million tonnes.
