UKRAINE RAISES ELECTRICITY GENERATION BY 2.2%

Ukraine raises electricity generation by 2.2%
Electricity generation in the united energy system of Ukraine in January-July 2018 increased by 2.2% compared to the same period in 2017, to 92.090 billion kWh, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has told Interfax-Ukraine. At that time, nuclear power plants (NPP) in the period reduced electricity generation by 10.7%, to 46.627 billion kWh, in particular, electricity generation at Zaporizhia NPP amounted to 21.454 billion kWh (2.1% less than in January-July 2017), Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP to 9.085 billion kWh (3.9% less), Rivne NPP to 8.138 billion kWh (26.9% less), and Khmelnytsky NPP to 7.950 billion kWh (down by 18%).
Thermal power plants (TPP), as well as combined heat and power plants (CHPP) and cogeneration plants increased output by 17.3%, to 34.585 billion kWh. In particular, the generating companies of TPPs increased production by 19.8%, to 27.892 billion kWh, while CHPP and cogeneration plants by 7.7%, to 6.693 billion kWh.
Hydro power plants and hydroelectric pumped storage power plants raised production in January-July 2018 by 32.7%, to 8.601 billion kWh, while block stations reduced by 1.4%, to 835.2 million kWh.
Electricity production by non-traditional sources (wind power plants, solar plants, biomass) for the seven months rose by 36.4%, to 1.443 billion kWh.
