UKRAINIAN BERRIES, FRUIT PRODUCERS AFTER SHOW IN HONG KONG OBTAIN PROPOSALS TO SUPPLY 80,000 TONNES OF APPLES

KYIV. Oct 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Demand of importers on Ukrainian apples at the Asia Fruit Logistiсa trade show in Hong Kong totaled 80,000 tonnes and cherries – 2,000 tonnes.
“After the show demand on fresh apples – around 80,000 tonnes, fresh berries – around 1,000 tonnes, cherries – some 2,000 tonnes, and preserved berries – around 2,000 tonnes was seen,” Head of the Export Promotion Programme at Western NIS Enterprise Fund Vitaliy Bihdai told Interfax-Ukraine.
He said that only in the first day of the show that was held in September Ukrainian producers received orders to supply 34,000 tonnes of apples harvested in 2017, including 14,000 tonnes for European buyers and 20,000 tonnes for Asian buyers.
In 2017, Ukraine first took part in the Asia Fruit Logistiсa show with the national stand.
“Thanks to the show, Ukrainian businessmen expanded their business contacts and received new orders,” Bihdai said.
