Metinvest Group’s Kametstal plant, which was built at the facilities of Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMK, Kamenskoye, Dnipro region), is expanding its rolled products range to supply the European market, in particular Polish consumers.
According to a press release, in January this year, Kametstal’s rollers successfully mastered the production of a line of rebar according to another Polish standard, B500SP.
It is specified that last year, following successful certification for compliance with Polish building codes, the company launched mass production of B500B rebar with a diameter of 8-32 mm for Polish consumers. And from now on, rebar in accordance with the B500SP standard will also be shipped to the Polish market. The specific requirements of this standard are not limited to geometric dimensions, weight per linear meter and mechanical testing. The development and production of such products requires changes in the gauge pattern, the angle of the rebar ribs, and other labeling requirements.
“A team of specialist technologists from the rolling shop, rolling mill, calibration bureau and process department joined forces to accomplish this important task. They developed technical solutions for the optimal production technology, calibration tables, rolling patterns, calibrated rolls, etc. The developed parameters were added to the software of the CNC machines used to prepare the rolls,” the press release states.
It is also noted that in January, the 400/200 rolling mill mastered the production of five B500SP rolled sections – rebar with a nominal cross section of 10, 12, 16, 20 and 32 mm. In February, the rollers will continue to expand their product line for the Polish market, with rebar with a cross section of 8, 14 and 28 mm planned for production.
“Kametstal was established on the basis of Dnipro Coke and Chemical Plant (DKKhZ) and Centralized Steel Works (DMK).
According to the 2020 report of Metinvest Group’s parent company, Metinvest B.V. (Netherlands) owned 100% of the shares in DCCP.
