The construction of a modern medical and diagnostic complex of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt (Kyiv) can actually be completed in 2021, said Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.
“When the new building is launched, Okhmatdyt will increase its capacity: it will be able to treat more than 32,000 patients, carry out more than 18,000 complex operations per year, in particular, more than 100 bone marrow transplants. The project will actually be completed in 2021,” he said during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada committee on national health, medical care and medical insurance on Friday.
According to Liashko, the construction of a new medical and diagnostic building and its technical equipment are included in the list of measures to prepare for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and the Ministry of Health is challenged to complete the building by August 24.
Liashko stressed that the purchase of equipment for the complex is planned to be carried out according to the negotiation procedure.
To date, the construction project has been completed by 95%.
“To date, from the allocated amount of funds of the investment project (UAH 1.2 billion), 68 million have actually been used, contracts for 202 million have been concluded, tenders in the ProZorro system in the amount of UAH 962 million have been announced. However, there are some risks regarding the full commissioning of this building. In particular, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine blocks procurement procedures for the amount of UAH 293 million, which makes it impossible to purchase monitors for patients. Fourteen procedures for the amount of UAH 220 million did not take place,” the minister added.

“Today, 850 foreign students from more than 40 countries of the world study at our university,” the vice-rector clarified.
According to her, training in scientific and educational institutions is carried out in seven areas: business school, architectural and engineering, language, medical, IT, law and art school. As part of the implementation of European education standards, students can choose freely more than 25% of subjects, not only in their professional filed, Navolokina specified.
She added that another feature of the university is a lifelong learning system – up to 93 years.
Chairman of the Development Assistance Council of the International European University, Academician of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Anatoliy Tolstoukhov noted at the press conference that the university seeks to bring Ukrainian education to a new quality level.
“Today, the process of consolidation of universities has begun in the world: along with schools, there will be much less of them. The specificity of our university is that at least two-thirds of students must be representatives of other countries,” he said.
According to him, such a scheme makes it possible to enrich the experience of world education in Ukraine.
Navolokina added that all teachers, students and junior staff at the university are fluent in English.

The profile ministries of Ukraine and Lithuania have agreed to launch a pilot project to develop multimodal transportation between the countries, according to the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on Thursday.
In Klaipeda, Lithuania, a meeting was held between Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Marius Skuodis, during which the parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation and prospects for new projects.
“Partnership in the field of transport is one of the priorities. We are restoring a dialogue on the implementation of an old idea – connecting the Baltic and Black Sea regions by rail. For both countries this is a chance to optimize logistics, increase the load on seaports and enter new world markets. We have already agreed to launch a pilot project, within the framework of which we will develop multimodal traffic between countries, including by increasing the flow of semi-trailers,” Kubrakov is quoted as saying.
He also noted the relevance of the resumption of the passenger railway route “four capitals” from Kyiv to Riga.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, there are currently large cargo flows between the Baltic and Black Sea regions, but the share of cargo moving from Ukraine is very low. At Klaipeda seaport, Ukrainian cargo accounts for only about 1-2% of all cargo. At the same time, according to the estimates of the Lithuanian side, the flow of goods from Ukraine could potentially be 10 times higher.
“For the implementation of multimodal cargo transportation by sea and rail, road semi-trailers will also be used as intermodal transport units. To make this possible, the ministry will initiate amendments to Ukrainian legislation, which will allow semi-trailers to be classified as cargo, and not as a vehicle,” the report said.
The launch of the pilot project is planned for September this year.
The successful implementation of the agreement, as noted in the Ministry of Infrastructure, has the potential to make Klaipeda seaport in Lithuania the northern gateway of Ukraine to Scandinavia and at the same time Odesa – the southern sea gate of Lithuania to the Black Sea region.

The Stellantis group in Ukraine (Peugeot, Citroёn, Opel, DS Automobiles) sold 4,689 cars in January-June of this year, which is 35.17% more than in the same period of 2020, increasing its share in the Ukrainian market of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles to 8.35% from 8.29% a year earlier, the press service of the group told Interfax-Ukraine.
At the same time, the press service of the company states that in general, sales in the car market during this period also increased by more than a third – by 34.2%, to 53,800 units.
“The automobile market of Ukraine in 2021 shows a constant growth in sales. The deferred demand from 2020, the opening of car dealerships after the lockdowns, the debut of numerous new products, and the development of corporate sales had a positive effect,” the group said in a press release.
At the same time, passenger cars accounted for about 90% of sales on the market (or 48,600 units), commercial – almost 10% (or 5,200 vehicles). Private buyers bought 64% of cars, corporate clients – almost 36% of total sales.
According to Stellantis in Ukraine, while maintaining the current dynamics of market growth, 2021 may end at a milestone: more than 100,000 cars. The company’s success in selling its brands is associated with an active marketing and advertising policy, participation in exhibitions, the constant introduction of new models, the development of corporate sales and related services.
