The number of victims of a powerful earthquake in Turkey has reached 38,044, the disaster management agency (AFAD) reported.
“The death toll from last week’s powerful earthquakes in southern Turkey has reached 38,044 people,” AFAD cited Anadolu Agency as saying.
Earlier, 35,418 deaths were reported.
“Al Jazeera” reports that the death toll in Syria is still 5.8 thousand, so the number of earthquake victims in both countries exceeded 43.8 thousand.
According to the channel, another earthquake occurred on Friday night in southern Turkey in Hatay province: this time with a magnitude of 5.1.
An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred in Turkey on the night of February 6, followed by a series of aftershocks, one of which had a magnitude of 7.6. These tremors caused serious destruction and casualties in the country, as well as in neighboring Syria.
Ukraine was excluded from the list of countries in which the use of chatbots with artificial intelligence ChatGPT developer OpenAl, after which the product became available to Ukrainian users, said Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov in Telegram.
“ChatGPT is now available in Ukraine. The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation worked on this solution for a long time – official letters, calls and meetings with the management. And finally, we managed to correct an injustice,” Fedorov pointed out.
The program will not work in the temporarily occupied territories of Russia, so that enemies will not use it for anti-Ukrainian propaganda, Fedorov specified. “ChatGPT has an excellent command of the Ukrainian language, unlike the Russians,” he noted.
The head of the Ministry of Digital Economy thanked the developer company OpenAI and advisor to the head of the Office of the President, President of the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) Timofey Milovanov for his assistance in solving the problem.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine was included in the sanctions list of countries, the use of ChatGPT in which was prohibited. The list also includes Russia, Belarus and Iran. The reasons for this selection were not reported.
At the same time, as indicated in the media, Ukrainian users found more than five ways to bypass the blocking, in particular by using foreign SIM cards of foreign mobile operators, using VPNs, changing the country binding in Google, using extensions for the Google Chrome browser.
ChatGPT rapidly gained popularity on the Internet after its launch in late November 2022: the number of chatbot users reached 100 million in the first two months of its existence. Its ability to mimic human conversation has sparked speculation that it could replace professional writers and even threaten Google’s search business, Bloomberg wrote. Chat is capable of generating texts of any size and HTML markup code, as well as responding to queries in a human-like manner, maintaining a dialogue and answering follow-up questions.
KSE has already opened enrollment in a free workshop on using ChatGPT and is considering a full training course, Milovanov wrote on his Facebook page.
Microsoft has already invested about $1 billion in OpenAI. The company is also working to incorporate ChatGPT chatbots into its Bing search engine.
Ukraine in January 2023 decreased imports of coal and anthracite (HS code 2701) in 48.1 times (by 1 million 805.902 thousand tons) compared to the same period in 2022 – up to 38.318 thousand tons.
According to the State Customs Service, the coal was imported for $13.605 million, which is 31.3 times less than in January 2022 ($426.314 million).
Coal from Australia came to $7.92 million (58.21%), Poland – $5.627 million (41.36%), South Africa – $0.058 million (0.43%).
Ukraine’s exports of coal in January 2023 amounted to 51,453 thousand tons worth $15.151 million, including to Slovakia – $10.09 million, Poland – $2.041 million, Austria – $1.994 million and other countries – $1.026 million.
As reported, Ukraine in 2022, reduced imports of coal and anthracite in 4.2 times (14 million 932.904 thousand tons) compared to 2021 – up to 4 million 630.144 thousand tons.
Coal was imported for $1 billion 179.113 million, which is 2.1 times less than in 2021 ($2 billion 488.698 million). The Russian Federation received $431.082 million worth of coal (pre-war supplies, a 36.56% share of imports), the United States $309.178 million (26.22%), Australia $199.491 million (16.92%), and other countries $239.363 million (20.3%).
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has arrived in Kiev and is expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the Dutch broadcaster NOS has reported.
According to the newspaper, in the morning, Rutte visited the Wall of Remembrance for those killed in Ukraine near Mykhaylivska Square and laid a wreath. The NOS report is illustrated with photos of the wreath-laying ceremony in Kiev.
Dutch Foreign Trade Minister Lissier Schreinemacher also arrived in the Ukrainian capital. According to the publication, after the meeting with Zelenskyy, Rutte and Schreinemacher will visit Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The Ukrainian media also publish a photo with Rutte in winter Kyiv.
The last time Rutte visited Kiev was in July 2022.
Ukraine’s negative balance of foreign trade in goods in 2022 increased 2.3 times compared to 2021 – to $11.125 billion from $4.771 billion, the State Statistics Service (Gosstat) said on Tuesday.
According to its data, exports of goods from Ukraine for the year compared to the previous year decreased by 35.1% – to $44.149 billion, imports – by 24.1%, to $55.274 billion.
State Statistics said that in December 2022, compared to November of that year, seasonally adjusted exports decreased by 2.4% – to $3.376 billion, while imports rose by 9.8% – to $5.347 billion.
The seasonally adjusted foreign trade balance in December 2022 was negative at $1.971 billion, while in November of that year it was also negative at $1.409 billion.
The ratio of exports to imports in 2022 was 0.80 (0.93 in 2021).
The State Statistics Committee specifies that foreign trade transactions were carried out with partners from 233 countries.

The official data concerning the main macroeconomic indicators was presented in the program as well as the forecasts of the leading world analytics for the years 2023-2024 were consolidated.
According to the analysts, the indicators of Ukrainian economy are stable on the whole. Thus to support it in the conditions of war in 2023 the increase of volumes of macrofinancial help from partners will be required. Thus, the founder of the Club of Experts, candidate of economic sciences Maxim Urakin referred to the IMF assessment, according to which Ukraine’s needs for external financing in the current year will be not less than 39.5 billion dollars and can reach 57 billion.
“This forecast is an expression of a high degree of uncertainty on the part of the world’s leading financial institutions with regard to the situation in the Ukrainian economy, and also demonstrates the increasing pressure on it from expenditures,” the expert stressed.
As for the global indicators, the same IMF forecasts that more than a third of the global economy in 2023 will arrive in recession. In turn, Bloomberg notes a record fall in global stock and bond markets in the last months of 2022. At the same time, investors are more optimistic about this year’s prospects.
“The end of the cycle of interest rate hikes, the recovery of the Chinese economy and the end of the war in Ukraine followed by the recovery of our economy could significantly improve the situation both in our country and in the world,” said Maxim Urakin.
