According to the website, imports will be 388 MW each in the 20 hours of the day and 383-385 MW in the remaining hours.

According to data on Ukrenergo’s electronic auction platform, the largest interstate cross-section capacity for imports for that day was booked by D.Trading – 450 MW for all hours of the day. In addition, 9 MW for all hours of the day was booked by Augusta Trading and 7 MW by ERU Trading. For tomorrow, the capacity booked by D. Trading and Augusta remains at the same level, with ERU Trading increasing it to 8 MW, plus 30 MW booked by DE Trading for all hours.

The cross-section price was still 0 UAH/MWh.

In total, Ukrenergo has been auctioning off 500-600 MW of cross-section capacity, which has almost doubled since January 26, depending on the hour of the day.
As reported, Ukraine, as ENTSO-E website testifies, started to receive imported electricity on January 15.

On January 15, 655 MWh, on January 20 – 220 MWh, on January 21 – 6,963 MWh, on January 22 – 6,672 MWh, on January 25 – 99 MWh, on January 26 – 3,813 MWh, on January 27 – 7,368 MWh. Total – 25790 MWh.

The most active importer is D.Trading. Besides it, ERU Trading, Nackstrade, as well as DE Trading, NAP-Comunity, Augusta, and U. Comodities booked the section in small amounts.

DTEK, for its part, said on January 25 that it had started importing electricity from Europe this month, and according to its calculations, the current electricity transmission capacity allows it to import about 500 million kWh per month, which corresponds to the monthly consumption of 2 million households.

According to the head of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyy, the imports, carried out by the trader DTEK and other companies, reduce the load on the energy system, but cannot fully cover the deficit of electricity.

According to the network operators, the limits of electricity consumption allocated to the regions allow to cover about half of the necessary resource, in Kiev – about 64%.

Fund for Reconstruction, Development of Ukraine plans to supply 52 full-fledged mobile hospitals to country

Together with partners, the Charitable Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine is planning to supply 52 full-fledged mobile hospitals equipped for surgeries and laboratory diagnostics in the immediate vicinity of active hostilities to the country.

As Artem Honcharenko, President of the Fund, said during a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday, the first hospital has already been committed to the Ministry of Defense and provides medical assistance to the military and civilian population in the area of active hostilities.

“The first hospital helps where there are active hostilities and heavy losses are possible. It is still the only one on the entire front line and is already saving lives. It is 52 hospitals that will help provide quick assistance along the entire front line in those places where quick assistance is needed,” he said.

Honcharenko specified that the number of hospitals was determined after consultations with military experts, including NATO ones. However, hospitals may have different specifications.

“The price at which such a hospital is offered on the market is $360,000, but in negotiations with manufacturers, we came up with a price of EUR 232,000 plus additional transportation costs,” Honcharenko specified.

At the same time, he added that by now an advance payment of $40,000 had been made – “under my personal word of honor,” and the hospital had been brought to Ukraine, but fundraising continues. Currently, the flow of patients served by it is 100-150 people a day – both military and civilian, who are in gray zones and places of de-occupation. Medical care in the hospital is provided by military doctors, who have already been joined by civilians.

“The hospital can operate in 300 km of the border zone, where the aggressor’s missiles reach. This is a full-fledged hospital on wheels,” Honcharenko said.

He noted that the hospital can be deployed and start working within 15 minutes, it is completely autonomous, equipped with a generator and has the ability to connect to external power. The Fund is currently exploring the possibilities of assembling hospitals in Ukraine.

The second hospital, according to the head of the charitable organization, the Fund plans to transfer to the clinic and medical center of the western region – “this is the so-called Lviv hospital.”

“We have signed a memorandum with them. We planned to transfer the first hospital to them, but we were asked to transfer it for special operations, so the first hospital operates where active hostilities are taking place,” Honcharenko specified.

According to Ukraine’s Armed Forces soldier Danyil Honcharenko, who has three wounds, due to the change in the operational situation at the front, the need for mobile hospitals capable of providing full-fledged medical care directly on the front line has increased significantly.

At the same time, another participant in the press conference, lawyer and serviceman Serhiy Petkov, noted their importance not only during active hostilities – after the victory they can continue to work in the aftermath of man-made disasters, accidents and terrorist attacks.

“If such a mobile hospital were in Dnipro on January 14, then more people could be saved before they were sent to hospitals, providing them with timely assistance on the spot,” he stressed.

Olena Kreknina, representative of the Dnipro Reconstruction and Development Foundation, spoke about cooperation with entrepreneurs.

“Raising funds for mobile hospitals is the most important area for us. We are engaging the business community, including the window business in Dnipro and companies such as AXOR, which has already joined. I urge all business representatives to join in saving lives, those who bring our victory closer,” she said.

According to the information announced during the press conference, the partners of the mobile hospitals project were the PR-agency Be my media, the Club of Experts, the Association of Science and Education of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, NGO Culture and Heritage of Ukraine, the International Technology Transfer Association (ITTA), the National University of Construction, the Physical culture and sports society Dynamo Ukraine, the licensed online school Focus, PATprofi – IT, Donbasenergo, the Amor Ukraine Health Organization, and NGO Ukrainian Diabetic Federation.

Shrinking trade threatens global economy – IMF

Deteriorating international cooperation and trade could have a negative impact on global economic growth, affecting the poorest countries the most, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) study said.

Among the main problems, the IMF pointed to measures taken by some countries that restrict trade, immigration and cross-border capital flows. These and other factors could lower world GDP by 7% in the long term, fund analysts said. If the restrictions affect the exchange of technology, the negative effect might amount to 8-12% of GDP for some countries.

“The world economy may be on the verge of moving away from the consistent course towards integration seen in the second half of the 20th century,” the paper notes. – Fragmentation may bring strategic advantages to some countries in individual cases, but overall it entails significant economic damage”.

These damages would take the form of “higher import tariffs, market segmentation, reduced access to technology and labour, both skilled and unskilled, and ultimately a reduction in productivity and living standards,” the IMF warns.

In particular, barriers to labour movement between countries could slow innovation and technology diffusion. In addition, fragmentation will reduce options for cross-border investment, hampering economic development.

Global trade was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, while the economy was just beginning to recover from the 2008 global financial crisis, as well as the UK’s exit from the EU and the US trade war with China, the fund said.

To improve the situation, the IMF recommends strengthening trade partnerships in the area of trade exchange, ensuring fair competition and taking measures to protect the most vulnerable groups of citizens.

Kiev city authorities on eve of Epiphany asking citizens to refrain from bathing in bodies of water

Kiev city authorities on the eve of Epiphany remind the need to observe security measures and restrictions in force under martial law, and ask to refrain from holding mass gatherings and events, the press service of the capital city administration said on Monday.

As stated in the appeal of the city authorities to religious organizations, “given the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, holding any mass events and gatherings, in particular religious ones, can be used by the aggressor country or radical groups to commit provocations against believers and ordinary citizens to destabilize the social and religious situation in Kiev.”

“At the same time, in order to avoid injuries and other dangerous situations, the city organizes the duty of rescuers on traditional baptismal locations. However, the citizens are persistently urged this year to refrain from bathing in bodies of water for Baptism,” – stressed the press service.
