PrJSC Zaporizhkoks, one of the largest producers of coke products in Ukraine, which is part of Metinvest Group, will focus on improving work efficiency and implementing investment projects aimed at updating the furnace stock and improving product quality.
According to the company, these are the program goals of the newly appointed acting general director of the enterprise Oleksandr Bekhter.
As specified, Bekhter has many years of experience in the coke industry. He started at the coke shop of Zaporizhkoks, reached the post of deputy head of the enterprise’s tar distillation shop. In 2015-2018 he worked in the production and technical department, then headed it. Since 2018, he has been holding the position of production director of Zaporizhkoks.
“In his new position, Bekhter will focus on improving the efficiency of Zaporizhkoks and implementing investment projects aimed at updating the furnace fund and improving product quality,” the press release states.
Metinvest is a vertically integrated mining group of companies. Its main shareholders are SCM Group (71.24%) and Smart Holding (23.76%), which jointly manage the company.

Prometey Group of Companies during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has implemented a number of socially oriented projects to support civilians in Mykolaiv and the region, materially meet the needs of Ukrainian warriors, and for the safety and social security of its employees.
According to a press release of the holding on Wednesday, 8 million UAH were allocated for these purposes, during which dozens of humanitarian projects were implemented.
For example, in December 2022 Prometey allocated funds to the Mykolayiv Regional Military Administration for the purchase of generators for units of the AFU.
As noted, “Prometey” was established in Nikolaev, so the company provides feasible assistance primarily to this city and the Nikolaev region.
“We buy food, medical equipment. Our help is in person, without intermediaries. We ourselves, for example, carried food to the front line of our military. Today, generators are the thing of prime necessity, so we promptly responded to the needs of the military,” the grain trader quotes Raphael Goroyan, head of the holding’s nabs council.
Prometey Group provides services in storing, processing and logistics of crops. Before the Russian aggression the holding owned 34 elevators in the Mykolaiv, Kirovograd, Kiev, Khmelnytsky, Zaporizhzhya, Sumy, Odessa, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
By the end of 2021, the group planned to receive $45 mln EBITDA, while in 2020 this figure reached $32.6 mln and in 2019 – $30.5 mln.

Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” in 2022 reduced the production of rolled steel by 60.4% compared to 2021 – down to 1 million 304.3 thousand tons.
According to the company’s information, the steel output fell by 61.7% to 1 million 491.3 thousand tons over this period, and iron output decreased by 54.3% to 2 million 9.9 thousand tons.
In December 2022, the steel plant produced 142.1 thousand tons of cast iron, 70.8 thousand tons of steel, shipped 56.7 thousand tons of rolled steel.
“The decline in production levels compared to the same period of the previous year is due to the shortage of raw materials and logistical problems caused by full-scale military action in Ukraine. In addition, due to the massive rocket attacks on the energy infrastructure and, as a consequence, the lack of capacity in the energy system, the plant reduced production, thus reducing the consumption of purchased electricity,” the press release explains.
As it was reported, Zaporizhstal in 2021 kept the output of rolled steel at the level of 2020 – 3.204 million tons, reduced steel production by 0.1% – to 3 million 778.25 thousand tons and increased the iron – by 0.1%, to 4 million 473.5 thousand tons.
“Zaporizhstal is one of the biggest industrial enterprises in Ukraine, which products are in great demand among domestic and foreign consumers. The plant specializes in high-quality carbon and low-alloy steel coils, hot-rolled plates, cold-rolled sheets, cold-rolled coils, as well as steel straps, tin plates, formed sections.
Main consumers are producers of welded pipes, enterprises of automotive, transport, agricultural engineering, producers of household appliances.

Six ships with agricultural products left Ukrainian ports on Thursday, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure said in its Telegram channel.
According to its data, six ships with 355 thousand tons of agricultural products on board have left the ports of Greater Odessa, 13 more ships (282 thousand tons of agricultural products) are being loaded.
In addition, the ports are preparing to receive six more ships, which follow the “grain corridor”.
“There are 102 vessels waiting for inspection by the Joint Coordination Center in the Bosporus. The Russian side continues to hinder inspections under any pretext, limiting the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to world markets,” the ministry states.
According to his data, since August 1, 2022, 626 ships have left the ports of Big Odessa, which exported 16.8 million tons of Ukrainian food to Asia, Europe and Africa.
