Industrial production in Ukraine in May 2021 increased by 5.4% compared to May 2020, while in April the growth was 13%, in March – 2.1%, and in February and January there was a decline, respectively by 4.6% and 4%, the State Statistics Service has said.
The agency clarified that, adjusted for the effect of calendar days, the growth of industrial production in the past month was the same – 5.4%.
The State Statistics Service indicates that from April this year, industrial production fell by 3.4%, and taking into account the seasonal adjustment – by 3%.
In processing industry in May 2021 from May 2020 the growth was 6.3%, in extracting industry and quarrying – 8%, while the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning recorded a decline of 3.5%.
In general, for the five months, the service recorded an acceleration in the growth of industrial production to 2.2% from 1.56% following the results of four months. In particular, the growth in processing industry was 2.5%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air – by 2.9%, in mining industry and quarrying – by 1.2%.
Six dubious investment projects were identified by the National Securities and Stock Market Commission as part of the monitoring of scam projects, the press service of the regulator has said.
The list includes NPBFX, Gerchik & Co, Want. Broker, GoldenStanley, Kiexo and TrustMacquarieCapital.
At the time of publication there were 70 scam projects in the list of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission.
The Commission recalled that scam projects include investments in the quasi-market Forex and projects that offer investment services, but aim only at illegal seizure of investors’ funds.
FOREIGN TRADE TURNOVER BY THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITIONS IN JAN-MARCH 2021 (EXPORT)
Ukraine since the beginning of the 2020/2021 marketing year (MY, July-June) and as of April 30, 2021 had exported 38.92 million tonnes ofgrains and legumes, which is 22.9% less than on the same date of the previous MY.
According to the information and analytical portal of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine, to date, 15.08 million tonnes of wheat, 19.11 million tonnes of corn, 4.12 million tonnes of barley have been exported.
As of the indicated date, 106,100 tonnes of flour were also exported.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukraine exported 56.72 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in the 2019/2020 MY.
As reported, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine in February predicted a decline in exports ofgrains and legumes in the 2020/2021 MY by 20.5% compared to the previous MY, to 45.4 million tonnes.
ASTARTA expands its product range and launches a pilot project on invert sugar syrup production. The initial batch is scheduled for August 2021.
The process of technological reequipment of the enterprise has already started. A special processing line will be installed at the Novoorzhytskiy sugar factory in the first half of July. The total investments are UAH0.5m.

This product can be used as feeding during the overwintering of bee colonies and helps to increase their productivity. It will also allow beekeepers to increase efficiency in their apiaries, introduce modern technologies and maintain a leading position in honey production in the world, – said project manager Ivan Chepak.
Invert sugar syrup is in demand with the confectionery industry as well. Therefore, in case of successful implementation of the pilot project, ASTARTA plans to increase the production of invert syrup and expand the marketing capabilities.
Thus, forming the added value of its products, ASTARTA increases the volume of products with a higher degree of processing, creates efficient production with a closed technological cycle and performs technical and technological reequipment of its enterprises.
The European Union has officially published its list of sectoral sanctions against Belarus.
In line with the decision of the EU Council, which was published in the EU’s official journal, the ban on import or transit from Belarus of highly significant export goods for the country, petroleum products and potash fertilizers, applies to contracts signed after June 25, 2021. The EU sanctions thus do not apply to current contracts for supplies of petroleum products and potash fertilizers.
“It shall be prohibited […] to transport petroleum products if they originate in Belarus, or are being exported from Belarus to any other country; to provide, directly or indirectly, technical assistance, brokering services, financing or financial assistance, including financial derivatives, as well as insurance and re-insurance […]. The prohibitions […] shall be without prejudice to the execution of contracts concluded before June 25, 2021, or ancillary contracts necessary for the execution of such contracts,” the document said.
Similar sanctions are envisaged for potash fertilizers from Belarus. “It shall be prohibited to import, purchase or transfer, directly or indirectly, potassium chloride (‘potash’) products […] from Belarus, whether or not originating in Belarus. The prohibitions […] shall be without prejudice to the execution of contracts concluded before June 25, 2021, or ancillary contracts necessary for the execution of such contracts,” it said.
