UKRAINE CUTS EXPORTS OF POULTRY INTO EU BY 18%

Imports of poultry meat from Ukraine into the EU countries (hereinafter excluding the United Kingdom) decreased in January-November 2020 by 18.1% compared to the same period in 2019, to 100,880 tonnes, however, the country retained the third place among top three exporters in this segment, according to a report on the website of the European Commission with reference to Eurostat.
According to it, in general, imports of these products into the EU for 11 months of 2020 amounted to 479,000 tonnes, which is 14.3% less than in 11 months of 2019.
Among other large exporters, Brazil reduced imports of poultry meat into the EU by 3.9%, to 213,010 tonnes, Thailand by 24.1%, to 124,520 tonnes, and China by 25.7%, to 15,430 tonnes.
Imports of poultry meat from the EU into Ukraine in January-November 2020 amounted to 134,740 tonnes, decreasing compared to the same period in 2019 by the same 18.1%. According to this indicator, Ukraine also ranked third.
In general, exports of these products from the EU decreased by 4%, to 1.590 million tonnes.
According to the report, in 2020, poultry meat production in the EU is expected to decrease by 2%, to 13.23 million tonnes, and consumption by 1.6%, to 12.43 million tonnes. The largest producers are Poland (19%), Spain (13%), France (12%), Germany (12%), Italy (10%) and the Netherlands (8%).
The European Commission said that the United Kingdom in January-September imported 478,660 tonnes of poultry meat, and exported 658,930 tonnes.
As the State Customs Service of Ukraine said, in 2020, exports of poultry meat from Ukraine in quantity terms increased by 4%, to 431,000 tonnes, while in monetary terms it decreased by 4.1%, to $555 million.

TOURISM INDUSTRY OF UKRAINE LOSES ABOUT UAH 60 BLN IN 2020

The tourism industry of Ukraine in 2020 saw about UAH 60 billion damage due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The demand is lower today and the damage to the market has been significant. If in the world the losses of the tourism industry amounted to about $ 800 billion, then in Ukraine, according to our calculations, about UAH 60 billion. This is the damage that the industry saw in 2020,” the head of the State Agency of Tourism Development in Ukraine, Maryana Oleskiv, said during a press conference on assessing the impact of COVID-19 on the hotel industry in Ukraine.
At the same time, she clarified that the agency plans to publish the detailed results of the industry in 2020 in early February.
At the same time, there is still no detailed statistical data on the tourism market and its participants in Ukraine, Oleskiv said.
“For the state agency, this will be one of the priorities in the next [2021] year. In the budget that we have, which is UAH 100 million, we plan to use a significant share of funding to create a unified tourism register, where all accommodation facilities and tourist activity subjects can register and receive operational statistics at least monthly,” the expert said.

UKRAINE INTENDS TO AGREE WITH KFW ON EUR 36.5 MLN FINANCING

The Cabinet of Ministers intends to sign several additional agreements between the government, the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) and the German state bank KfW on the development of social infrastructure in the country for the amount of EUR 36.5 million.
The relevant draft documents were adopted at a government meeting on Wednesday.
In particular, a draft supplementary agreement to the agreement dated April 19, 2018 signed with KfW for UAH 9 million was approved for the Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development Project; a draft supplementary agreement to the agreement dated May 20, 2019 signed with KfW for the amount of EUR 14.45 million for the Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. Improvement of Rural Basic Health Project; a draft agreement with KfW for the amount of UAH 13.1 million for the Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development Project.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov was authorized to sign the documents.

UKRAINE GETTING READY TO INTRODUCE VACCINATION PASSPORTS AGAINST COVID-19

Ukraine is preparing for the introduction of vaccination passports against COVID-19, said chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko in an interview with Ukraine 24 on the Telegram channel of the TV channel on Tuesday.
According to him, all vaccinated will be entered into the electronic health care system so far.
“When mandatory vaccination passports are introduced at the international level, Ukrainian doctors will be able to promptly issue a certificate of vaccinations,” Liashko stressed.
Also, according to the chief sanitary doctor, the government is doing everything possible to vaccinate the population of Ukraine over 18 free of charge with two doses of the vaccine.
