Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport (Zhuliany) in January-July 2018 serviced around 1.5 million passengers, according to a posting on the official Facebook page of the airport. “On August 1, 2018, the airport serviced a 1.5 millionth passenger since the beginning of the year. The figure is indicative. It indicates the rapid and confident development of the airport. In August 2017, Hlib Deineha became the millionth passenger, he was then 3.5 years old,” the airport said.
In July, the airport serviced 351,000 passengers, which is 59.4% more than in July 2017; including 342,200 on international flights and 8,800 passengers on domestic flights. The number of flights in July 2018 was 3,328 for the arrival and departure, which is 34.1% more than the same period in 2017; of which 2,874 international flights and 454 domestic flights. The most popular international destinations in July 2018 were Antalya (Turkey), Sharm-El-Sheikh (Egypt), Minsk (Belarus), Warsaw (Poland), Ankara (Turkey), Batumi (Georgia), Tivat (Montenegro); internal – Odesa, Zaporizhia and Lviv.
In January-July 2018, the Kyiv airport serviced 1.5 million passengers, which is 64.8% more than in January-July 2017; of them 1.45 million passengers on international flights and 49,500 passengers on domestic flights.
The number of flights in January-July 2018 amounted to 16,834 for the arrival and departure, which is 38% more than the same period of 2017, of them 14,182 international flights and 2,652 domestic flights. The most popular international destinations since the beginning of 2018 have been Minsk (Belarus), Dubai (UAE), Antalya (Turkey), Ankara (Turkey), Warsaw (Poland), Rome (Italy), Budapest (Hungary); internal – Odesa, Zaporizhia and Lviv.
The press service said that the airport plans to service 2.8 million passengers by the end of 2018.
Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany) is located in the business center of the capital, seven km from the city center. It is the second largest airport in Ukraine in terms of the number of flights and passenger traffic. The airport has three terminals with a total area is 21,000 square meters. Terminal B is separate facility for business-class service, it is part of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) system. The airport’s runway is able to handle B-737 and A-320 aircraft. In Q1 2018, the airport serviced 442,000 passengers, which is 50.4% more than in Q1 2017.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has raised the forecast for wheat harvest by one million tonnes, to 24 million tonnes. “Today we’ve received live information from the regions and based on it we improve our current forecast for wheat harvest and its food component. After having threshed 74% of the areas, we expect the wheat harvest at the level of 24 million tonnes, of which 13 million tonnes is food wheat,” First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Maksym Martyniuk wrote on his official Facebook page.
According to preliminary estimates from the ministry, the food classes/forage ratio in the wheat crop in 2018 will be 55 versus 45. According to the ministry, last year the wheat yield was 26.2 million tonnes. As reported, the ministry announced its intention in the coming days to sign a document with grain traders, which will indicate the projected volumes of grain exports.
Ukrainian metal and mining enterprises in January-July 2018 tentatively increased rolled steel output by 4% year-over-year, to 10.636 million tonnes. According to the Ukrmetallurgprom association, steel smelting grew by 1%, to 11.99 million tonnes, and cast iron output increased by 7%, to 11.75 million tonnes.
The production figures of enterprises in January-July 2018 were higher in comparison with the same period in 2017 not taking into account two months of work of the enterprises in the Ukrainian government’s uncontrolled area: rolled steel output grew by 9%, steel – by 5%, and cast iron – by 12%.
In July 2018, Ukrainian metal companies produced 1.598 million tonnes of cast iron (98% to the previous month), 1.599 million tonnes of steel (93%), and 1.375 million tonnes of rolled steel (90%).
“The reduction in production of key types of products is linked to overhauls and scheduled maintenance works at some plant,” the association said.

In 2016, Ukraine boosted steel output by 6% year-over-year, to 24.2 million tonnes, cast iron – by 8%, to 23.6 million tonnes, and rolled steel – by 6%, to 21.4 million tonnes.
The Kharkiv international airport in January-July 2018 increased passenger flow by 21%, to 543,300 people, the airport has reported on its website. “The increase in passenger traffic is connected, in particular, with the opening of new destinations – flights to Dortmund, Milan, Tbilisi, Barcelona, Batumi, Rimini and Katowice… Domestic passenger traffic for seven months increased by 16%, international – by 22%,” the airport said.
In January-July, the airport serviced 2,629 flights (9% growth), of which 1,827 were international (20% growth), and 802 domestic flights (a decrease of 10%). The passenger traffic of the Kharkiv airport in July 2018 was 104,500 people, which is 20% more than for the same period in 2017 (87,200). In July, the number of international flights in comparison with July 2017 increased by 17%, to 357. The number of domestic flights decreased from 139 to 129, while the number of passengers on domestic routes increased.
The most popular among the regular destinations from Kharkiv are: Istanbul (Turkish Airlines, Pegasus), Kyiv (UIA), Warsaw (LOT), Tel Aviv (UIA), Dortmund (Wizz Air), Batumi (Yanair, Myway Airlines), Katowice WIzz Air), Minsk (Belavia), Milan (UIA) and Tbilisi (Myway Airlines). The airport expects an increase in the number of flights and total passenger traffic in coming months.
UDP Renewables, part of UFuture Group of Vasyl Khmelnytsky, has built a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 18 MW in Kherson region, the businessman said on his Facebook page. “UDP Renewables has built an 18 MW solar plant in Rykove (Kherson region). Considering the fact that the Kherson sun is much more efficient than in Kyiv, we plan to fully pay back the investment ($18 million) in five or six years. The station will be connected in a few months,” he wrote. Khmelnytsky added that during the construction of the solar plant, racks, cables and inverters of Ukrainian origin were used, while solar panels were imported from China. To build the station, according to the businessman, the territory of the former industrial zone, unusable for agriculture, was used.
As reported, earlier the group of Khmelnytsky built the first stage of a solar plant with a capacity of 6 MW in the village of Velyka Dymerka of Kyiv region. After the construction of the first stage, the group attracted Spanish-based Acciona Energia Global as a partner for the expansion of the project.

PJSC Farmak (Kyiv), one of the three leaders of the Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry, in the first half of 2018 increased pharmacy sales by 17.4%, to UAH 2.232 billion. According to a press release of the pharmaceutical company, with reference to a study by Proxima Research, thus, Farmak for the eighth consecutive year has been leading the rating of marketing organizations in the pharmaceutical market of the country in January-June 2018.
As reported, Farmak in January-March 2018 increased sales of medicines by 18.35% compared to the same period in 2017, to UAH 1.1 billion.
In 2017 Farmak raised sales in the retail pharmaceutical market of the country by 21% in monetary terms. Its net profit increased by 29.9%, to UAH 839.09 million.
Over the past seven years, the company has allocated UAH 2.8 billion for the development and modernization of production.
