NEW TRUCKS SALES IN UKRAINE 47% UP IN 2016

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Sales of new trucks in Ukraine in 2016 with a fully loaded weight of over 3.5 tonnes grew by 46.6%, to 2,085 units, AUTO-Consulting has reported.

The number of deals to sell trucks grew for almost all active market players and some of them managed to boost sales by dozens of times.

The leader of the Ukrainian truck market was Russia’s GAZ in 2016, boosting sales by 2.3-fold, to 349 trucks, and its market share grew from 10.7% to 16.7%. In 2015 GAZ was second in sales.

MAN was second for the first time with 15.4% of the Ukrainian market (6.8% in 2015 and fifth on the market), boosting sales by 3.3 times, to 321 trucks.

Last year leader – Belarus’ MAZ – is not third with a 19.4% fall in sales, to 312 trucks, while its market share deceased to almost 15% compared to 27.2% in 2015.

AUTO-Consulting said that it is hard to switch to Euro-5 emission standard that took effect in Ukraine early 2016 for MAZ. MAZ trucks meeting Euro-5 emission standard were started only in H2 2016 and this affected the sales figures.

Scania trucks are fourth (third in 2015) with a 19.3% rise in sales, to 179 units.

The experts said that Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, DAF, Renault boosted their sales. Only KAMAZ (eighth) posted an 18.6% fall in sales. Dealers of Ford Trucks successfully attracted MAZ consumers.

“Turkey’s Ford showed the highest growth on the market and boosted sales by over 16 times, to 104 trucks,” the analysts said.

Chinese truck sales were also stirred up. Foton was tenth (14th in 2015) leaving KrAZ behind (sixth in 2015).

The experts said that 57 KrAZ trucks were sold in Ukraine in 2016 or 32% less than a year ago.

UKRAINE INCREASES EXPORTS OF TITANIUM ORE IN KIND BY 57% IN 2016

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine in 2016 increased exports of titanium ore and concentrate in real terms by 57.1%, compared to 2015, to 463,386 tonnes.

According to customs statistics, made public by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, exports of titanium ore and concentrate in monetary terms in 2016 rose by 16.7%, to $83.979 million.

Major exports were made to the Russian Federation (35.33% of the supply in money terms), the United States (18.35%), and the Czech Republic (12.40%).

Ukraine in 2016 imported 160 tonnes of titanium ore and concentrate, mainly from Senegal (90.63%), Germany (6.25%) and Vietnam (2.08%) for $90,000, while in 2015 the country imported 4 tonnes for $3,000 from South Africa.

As reported, Ukraine in 2015 reduced exports of titanium ore and concentrate in natural terms by 10.2% compared to 2014, to 295,024 tonnes, in monetary terms by 28.7%, to $71.955 million.

The produce was mainly exported to the Russian Federation (27.43% of the supply in money terms), the United States (16.47%), and the Czech Republic (15.82%).

Vilnohirsk state mining and metallurgical plant (Dnipropetrovsk region), Irshansk state mining and processing plant (Zhytomyr region), Valki-Ilmenite and Mezhdurechensk Mining and Concentration Complex (MMC, both are located in Irshansk, Zhytomyr region) are mainly produce titanium ore in Ukraine.

Dnipro-based Velta production and commercial firm built a mining and processing complex at the Birzulivske ilmenite deposit, which has a 240,000-tonne ilmenite concentrate capacity per year. At the first stage of production in October 2014 there was a large fire which destroyed 50-60% of total production.

Holding company Velta Group Global Ltd. was registered in London in November 2011.

UKRAINE INCREASES EXPORTS OF CAST IRON IN KIND BY 16.9% IN 2016

KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine in 2016 increased cast iron exports in kind by 16.9%, compared to the same period in 2015, to 2.54 million tonnes.

According to customs statistics, made public by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, exports of cast iron in monetary terms grew by 7.9% during this period, to $551.215 million.

Exports were mainly made to the United States (29.61% of supply in terms of money), Turkey (27.41%), and Italy (25.76%).

In 2016 Ukraine imported 1,755 tonnes of cast iron worth $661,000, whereas in 2015 it imported 3,431 tonnes of similar products for $1.177 million. Imports were mainly made from Russia (75.45% of deliveries in monetary terms), Germany (16.69%) and Italy (4.58%).

Ukraine in 2015 decreased cast iron exports in kind by 1.7%, to 2.172 million tonnes and by 36.4% in money terms, to $510.644 million.

Cast iron was mainly exported to Italy (30.63%), Turkey (25.11%) and the United States (19.9%).

Ukraine last year imported 3,431 tonnes of cast iron (53.6% down year-over-year). In money terms imports decreased by 60.6%, to $1.177 million.

Cast iron was mainly imported from Russia (88.03%) and Germany (9.59%).
