KYIV. Nov 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will organize financing for Carpathian Wind LLC (Karpatsky Viter, the founder is businessman Zynoviy Kozytsky) for a total of EUR23.1 million for building a wind power plant with a capacity of 20.7 MW in Lviv region, the bank’s press service has said.
“The package of funding in the amount of EUR23.1 million, organized by the bank, includes EUR8.6 million from the EBRD, EUR4 million from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF), the first phase of the loan in the amount of EUR5.5 million from the Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), as well as the first phase of the loan in the amount of EUR5 million from the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO),” the report reads.
The planned capacity of the new wind plant is 20.7 MW, it will be equipped with six turbines.
As reported, the EBRD previously financed the construction of wind plants by Kozytsky’s companies.
KYIV. Nov 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is preparing the expansion of military and technical cooperation with Indonesia: the sides are holding negotiations on a possibility of supplying Ukrainian An-148-300MP maritime patrol planes to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR).
The press service of Ukrspecexport state-run company reported on Thursday that during the negotiations between Ukrspecexport Director General Pavlo Bukin and Indonesian Navy officers at the IndoDefence-2016 Expo&Forum (Jakarta, Indonesia), Ukraine announced a possibility of supplying An-148-300MP maritime patrol planes to an Indonesian customer with the future transfer of assembly technologies to apply at an Indonesian aircraft building plant.
Indonesian partners pointed out a large potential of the Ukrainian defense industrial complex and high professionalism in military and technical cooperation with Ukraine.
KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Terminal-UPSS has launched a new tank fleet handling palm and exotic oils and other liquid edible products and fats.
According to a company press release, the fleet of 14 tanks with a total storage capacity of 41,000 cubic meters has elevated railway tracks and road, heated pipeline system and “nitrogen breathing” system to avoid aging of products, a warm water heating system and a laboratory.
“The polymeric internal coverage of the tanks allows working with almost any types of bulk cargos. Investment reached $7 million,” the company said.
Terminal-UPSS in next two years seeks to build a grain elevator with a storage capacity of 240,000 tonnes at Dnipro-Buhsky seaport.
Terminal-UPSS owns a port complex with a total storage capacity of 185 cubic meters – these are five terminals with a storage capacity of 25,000-40,000 tonnes each. The company’s core business is handling bulk edible cargos, as well as exporting molasses and vegetable oil.
KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv), the largest airport in the country, in January-October 2016 increased its passenger traffic by 16% year-over-year and 23% from January-October 2014, compared to the same period of 2015, to 7.264 million people.
The press service of the airport reported that the number of transit passengers over the period grew to 1.899 million (47% up year-over-year).
In October 2016, the airport serviced 797,400 passengers (20% up on October 2015 and 42% up on October 2014).
“One of the key factors of the indicators’ growth was development of the basic airline of the Boryspil airport – UIA. It is a driver of the airport’s growth,” the airport said.
In 2016, the airport seeks to service over 8.4 million passengers. Passenger flow would be increased by 15.4% compared to 2015.
Boryspil airport services over 68% of passenger transportation in Ukraine. It is the only airport in the country servicing long-haul flights. Over 50 airlines fly from the airport on more than 100 routes worldwide.
KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) intends to launch two projects on energy efficiency market development in Ukraine by the end of 2016, UNDP Deputy Country Director in Ukraine Blerta Cela has said.
Speaking at the 8th International Forum on Sustainable Energy in Ukraine in Kyiv on Tuesday, Cela announced the launch of two important programs to promote activities in the field of energy efficiency and the development of this market in Ukraine.
According to her, the first program will be aimed at removing barriers to investment in energy efficiency in government buildings.
This program will be aimed at speeding up the implementation of energy efficiency measures at the expense of the most productive use of private sector investment, the deputy director of the UNDP office in Ukraine said.
At the same time, the UNDP’s second program will focus on promoting and encouraging the development of ‘green cities’ in Ukraine.
She said they will try to integrate ‘green’ urban development and ‘green’ urban management in this country including through taking the cue from several successful models of other cities in other countries.
The UNDP deputy country director also stressed the importance of the adoption by the Ukrainian parliament of the bills on housing and communal utilities, on energy efficiency of buildings and on fiscal metering of utility services, which should help Ukraine meet European energy efficiency standards, particularly in the residential sector.
The UNDP also needs financial support mechanisms and new technologies in order to support Ukraine in the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy production, Cela said adding that the Energy Efficiency Fund has the potential to be a powerful tool in accelerating economic development in Ukraine.
According to her, Ukraine is still one of the least energy-efficient countries in the world occupying the 24th place in terms of greenhouse gas emissions.
KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – DTEK Energo will buy 30,000 tonnes more gas coal in Poland in addition to earlier contracted 100,000 tonnes. The company will supply it in November to Burshtyn and Dobrotvirska thermal power plants (TPPs, managed by DTEK Zakhidenergo), the press service of the company has reported.
The press service said that first wagons with Polish coal started arriving to DTEK Zakhidenergo early October. At present, over 84,000 tonnes of imported coal has been shipped to TPPs.
“Since June DTEK’s TPPs have been operating in the extra coal burning mode. The Ukrenergo’s dispatch center ordered that DTEK’s TPPs will compensate for a lack of the power grid’s capacity. This has considerably increased the burden on our equipment and the volumes of coal supplies to our TTPs,” Commercial Director of DTEK Energo Vitaliy Butenko said.
He said that the diversification strategy approved by the company allows boosting coal supplies from different directions, in particular, from Poland.
