Prices for wheat from Ukraine rose insignificantly, corn quotes are stable – Barva Invest

Prices for wheat from Ukraine for the period from August 26 to September 8 slightly increased against the backdrop of a gradual resumption of its exports by sea, corn quotes on the Ukrainian market are stable, according to the Telegram channel of the consulting company Barva Invest.
As, on September 8, quotations of wheat from Ukraine on the terms of delivery of CPT are estimated at 4.9-6.4 thousand UAH / ton, while on August 26 – 4.5-6.4 thousand UAH / ton, on August 11 – 4 3-6 thousand UAH/ton, and on August 4 – 3-5.5 thousand UAH/ton. The spot price of corn at the Chop checkpoint near Hungary for the period August 26-September 8 remained at $240/ton.
According to Barva Invest, the December futures of wheat from the Black Sea region Black Sea (BWFU2) as of September 8 decreased by 5.9% compared to August 26 – to $317.25/ton, however, on the European exchange Euronext (EBMU2) increased by 0.5%, up to EUR328.75/ton, and on the Chicago Stock Exchange (ZWU2) – by 9.8%, up to $8.44/bu.
Thus, wheat quotes for the reporting period were influenced in different directions by the rise in prices for other grain crops and the expectation of increased demand from importers against the backdrop of statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin criticizing the Istanbul grain agreements that allegedly the “grain corridor” from Ukraine is used to supply food to EU countries, not to poor third world countries.
“Wheat quotations reacted with active growth to another portion of demagoguery from Russia regarding the export of Ukrainian grain from Ukrainian ports within the grain corridor … (Putin – IF) said that he would consult with his henchmen and Turkey regarding the need to limit Ukraine’s export destinations,” the consulting company emphasized. company in the message.
The investment company clarified that by September 8, the December futures for corn from the Black Sea region (BWFU2) slightly decreased by 0.8% compared to August 26, to $310.75/ton, while on the Chicago Stock Exchange (ZCU2) it increased by 3 .2% to $6.71/bu.
Quotes of corn on the world market also changed in different directions, prices were influenced by the market’s expectation of a possible decrease in estimates of the American crop in the September report of the US Department of Agriculture, fears about the prospects for corn yields in the US and the EU due to record drought, concerns about the prospects for a global recession, as well as subsidence oil prices.
The key transactions with soft commodities were the purchase by Japan of 95 thousand tons of wheat (from the USA and Canada), Iraq – 100 thousand tons of wheat (from the USA), Jordan – 120 thousand tons of wheat, South Korea – 60 thousand tons of wheat and 206 thousand tons of corn. In addition, the Philippines announced a tender for the purchase of 100,000 tons of feed wheat, Japan for 70,000 tons of feed wheat, and South Korea for 55,000 tons of wheat.
As reported, in response to Putin’s criticism of the Istanbul grain agreements, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on September 8 that Ukrainian grain is being shipped to Asia, Africa and Europe. Prior to this, the President of the Russian Federation was outraged by the allegedly larger share of agricultural products that goes along the grain corridor from Ukraine to the EU, and not to poor third world countries.
According to Zelensky, 54 ships with agricultural products have already been sent to Asia, 16 to Africa, 32 to Europe. At the same time, part of the European supplies are subsequently redirected to Asian and African countries, the President specified.
On July 22, in Istanbul, with the participation of the UN, Ukraine, Turkey and Russia, two documents were signed on the creation of a corridor for the export of grain from three Ukrainian ports: Chornomorsk, Odessa, and Pivdenny.
As of September 6, the total tonnage of grain and other food products exported from three Ukrainian ports is, according to the UN, 2.213 million tons. In total, the movement of 204 vessels has been allowed at the moment – 108 arriving in Ukrainian ports and 96 leaving them.

Britain plans at least 10 days of mourning for Queen’s death

In the UK, at least 10 days of mourning are expected in connection with the death of Queen Elizabeth II, after which her funeral will take place, during which time major sports and government events are likely to be canceled, English media reported on Thursday.
Elizabeth’s body will be moved to Edinburgh Cathedral and later to Buckingham Palace. Five days after that, he will be moved to Westminster Hall. The Queen’s funeral, according to the media, is expected at Westminster Abbey 10 days after her death.
The death of Elizabeth II means that her eldest son, Crown Prince Charles, at the age of 73, automatically becomes the new king of Great Britain, and his wife Camilla becomes queen.

“The death of my dear mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of great sadness for me and all members of our family. We deeply mourn the passing of a beloved monarch and beloved mother,” the new king of Great Britain said in an official statement.
A number of ceremonial events are expected to take place on Friday to officially mark the new king’s ascension to the throne. Traditionally, after the death of the monarch, the Council of Succession meets to resolve organizational issues.
In addition, Clarence House – the residence of the British royal family – on Thursday evening confirmed that the king will rule under the name Charles III.
It is not yet known when the coronation ceremony will take place. Queen Elizabeth II was crowned more than a year after her father’s death.
It is also expected that major sporting events such as football and cricket matches will be cancelled. Already in today’s Europa League match, in which the English “Arsenal” met with the Swiss “Zurich”, before the start of the second half, they held a moment of silence.
The British media report that, most likely, the country’s authorities will not hold any non-urgent events that are not related to the death of the queen for ten days.

Ukraine starts reform of state forestry industry

Ukraine is starting a reform of the state forestry industry, in which all 158 forestry enterprises of the country are merged into a single state specialized enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, and the current 24 regional administrations will be enlarged to nine regional forestry and hunting departments.
As Yury Bolohovets, head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, wrote on Facebook, the creation of a single company is fully consistent with European practice – the experience of the Baltic countries, Poland and other countries. Also, a single company achieves better economic results, attracts investments more efficiently and introduces new technologies with more transparent and standardized business processes.
“In the future, the structure of the “Forests of Ukraine” should consist of three levels: local branches, regional offices, central office. The new enterprise will focus on planning, coordination and quality control of work. External contractors will be involved to perform work on a competitive basis,” the head wrote. State forest agencies in the social network.
Bolohovets stressed that as part of the reform, consolidation will take place – instead of 24 regional departments of the State Forest Agency, nine regional departments of forestry and hunting will be formed, which will be formed in accordance with forest growing zones, the number of forest users in the region and the forest area.
According to him, the creation of an enterprise to manage all state forestry enterprises is provided for by the State Forest Management Strategy of Ukraine until 2035. In addition, a single company with centralized management is more manageable both during martial law and during the post-war recovery of the country’s economy.
“Thus, in Ukraine, as in most European countries, a model is being formed with two independent verticals of forest management. SE “Forests of Ukraine” governs, the regional departments of the agency implement state policy and control the activities of forest users – both state and all others. The central office The State Forest Agency coordinates the interaction of both verticals of management, because when transforming the system, it is very important to maintain its manageability,” the head of the agency explained.
To carry out the reform, a special Reorganization Commission under the State Forest Agency is currently being created, this stage of reformatting will be completed by the end of 2022.
“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that neither the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” nor the state joint-stock company, which is planned to be created in the future, can be objects of privatization! Centralization of management does not mean the creation of a monopoly or a monopoly. “, – said Bolohovets in the message.
One of the conditions of the reform is also the preservation of jobs in the industry and the volume of tax revenues to local budgets. At the same time, a certain optimization process will take place – some managers from the local level will be able to move to regional offices.

Ukraine to build 2 incineration plants in Kyiv region

As part of the waste treatment reform, Ukraine is implementing the first major investment project: within two years, two modern incineration plants with a total processing capacity of 145,000-220,000 tonnes of waste per year will be built in Kyiv region.
According to Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets, on September 8 he and Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration Oleksiy Kuleba, Mayor of Boryspil Volodymyr Borysenko, Mayor of Brovary Ihor Sapozhko and Mayor of Fastiv Mykhailo Netiazhuk signed a memorandum of cooperation, effectively securing the intention to build waste processing enterprises.
“Two modern plants for household waste treatment will be built on the territory of Boryspil, Brovary and Fastiv communities. Their uniqueness lies in the use of several processing technologies at once. In particular, organic waste (food waste) will be processed with subsequent production of biomethane, as well as deep sorting of waste with the allocation of resource-valuable materials – scrap metal, glass and plastic,” the minister wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
The planned capacity of the common plant for the Brovary and Boryspil communities will be approximately 110,000-120,000 tonnes of waste per year, Fastiv – 35,000-100,000 tonnes per year. The construction period will be two years, the projects will be implemented at the expense of loans from European banks.
According to Strilets, negotiations are underway with potential investors who have long been waiting for the adoption of a law on waste management in Ukraine. The minister recalled that the waste management reform was launched by the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada in July of bill No. 2207-1-D, which creates transparent conditions and guarantees for investments in this sector of the economy.
The minister specified that Kyiv region was chosen for the implementation of the reform, since amid the Russian full-scale invasion, the capital and the capital region demonstrated the stability and invincibility of the entire country.

Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine opens case against Borshchahiv Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant

On September 2, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine began consideration of the case on the grounds that PJSC “Scientific and Production Center” Borshchahiv Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant “(BHFZ) committed a violation under Article 16 of the Law “On Protection from Unfair Competition” in the form of unlawful collection of commercial secrets of PrJSC “Pharmaceutical firm “Darnitsa” (both from Kyiv).
“In a statement to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the complainant said that during the consideration of the case in one of the domestic courts, his competitor noted in the text of the recall information about PJSC FF Darnitsa, which is a commercial secret. We are talking about information about active pharmaceutical ingredients imported by the company,” the antimonopoly agency said in a press release on Thursday.
According to the report, Darnitsa also alleges that it did not give the competitor permission to obtain, disclose or otherwise use information containing trade secrets. According to the applicant, the information was obtained in an unlawful way, since it cannot be known to third parties on legal grounds, since appropriate measures are taken to protect this data.
The Committee indicates that it has found that the applicant and the respondent are direct competitors.
The Office notes that this is the second complaint of this kind in its history. In 2018, by decision No. 30-r/tk, the Provisional Administrative Board fined Ergon-Electric LLC UAH 360,000 for misuse of the trade secret of its competitor, TIK Vector-VS LLC, received from its former employees.
The defendant unsuccessfully appealed against the decision of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to the Economic Court in Kyiv, the Northern Economic Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. By a ruling dated November 23, 2020, the Supreme Court upheld the position of the committee and upheld the decision of the courts of first instance and appeal.
BHFZ and Darnitsa are among the largest Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies. Darnitsa owns 31.8037% of BHFZ shares.
