UKRAINE PRODUCES 121,500 TONNES OF SUGAR BY SEPT 24

Sugar production in Ukraine as of October 1, 2019 amounted to 217,200 tonnes. According to the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers, as of this date 25 sugar factories were operating in the country, which have processed 1.6 million tonnes of sugar beets.
The Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine said that 12 million tonnes of sugar beets from 45,000 ha or 20% of the plan was harvested as of September 26 with the average yield of 44.5 tonnes per ha.
As reported, the sugar season in Ukraine started on September 1. According to the Ukrtsukor association, the number of sugar factories in operation in the 2019/2020 season will be reduced from 42 to 32, and sugar production is expected to reach 1.1-1.2 million tonnes.
Sugar production in the 2018/2019 season decreased by 15% compared with the previous MY, to 1.82 million tonnes.

LVIV INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SEES 38% RISE IN PASSENGER FLOW IN 2019

Passenger traffic of the Lviv international airport named after Danylo Halytsky in January-September 2019 amounted to 1.671 million people, which is 38.7% more than in the same period in 2018, the airport’s press service has reported on its Facebook page.
The number of flights in January-September reached 14,445, which is 25% more than in January-September last year.
According to the results of September 2019, 226,300 passengers used the airport services, which is 34.3% more than in August 2018.
At the same time, the number of operated flights in September 2019 increased 29.6%, to 1,948.
As reported, the Lviv Airport in 2018 increased passenger traffic by 48% compared to 2017, to 1.598 million people.
The airport is located 6 km south of the city center.
The new terminal building, built for Euro 2012, was commissioned on April 12, 2012. The new terminal with a total area of 39,000 square meters has nine gates, 28 check-in counters, two self-service check-in kiosks, 18 passport control points and 12 airport security points.
The main routes handled by the airport are: Warsaw (Poland), Istanbul (Turkey), Munich (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Baku (Azerbaijan), Thessaloniki (Greece), Madrid (Spain), Rome (Italy), Tel Aviv (Israel), Bologna (Italy), Radom (Poland), Heraklion (Greece), Minsk (Belarus), and Burgas (Bulgaria).

UKRAINE INCREASES ROLLED STEEL BY 2%, STEEL BY 4%

Ukrainian metal and mining enterprises in January-September 2019 tentatively increased rolled steel output by 1.9% year-over-year, to 14.103 million tonnes.
According to the Ukrmetallurgprom association, steel smelting grew by 4.1%, to 16.414 million tonnes, cast iron output increased by 1.1%, to 15.471 million tonnes.
In September 2019, Ukrainian metal companies produced 1.746 million tonnes of cast iron (95.4% to the previous month), 1.759 million tonnes of steel (90.8%), and 1.583 million tonnes of rolled steel (103%).
As reported, Ukrainian metal and mining enterprises in 2018 tentatively increased rolled steel output by 1% year-over-year, to 18.446 million tonnes. Steel smelting fell by 2%, to 21.06 million tonnes, and cast iron output increased by 2%, to 20.531 million tonnes.
Ukrainian metal and mining enterprises in 2017, taking into account the two months of operation of the enterprises on the government uncontrolled areas, reduced steel output by 12% year-over-year, to 21.284 million tonnes, rolled steel – by 14%, to 18.439 million tonnes, and cast iron – by 15%, to 20.035 million tonnes.
In 2016, Ukraine boosted steel output by 6% year-over-year, to 24.2 million tonnes, cast iron – by 8%, to 23.6 million tonnes, and rolled steel – by 6%, to 21.4 million tonnes.
