TOUCHSTONE FROM UK INTERESTED IN BUILDING SOLAR, WIND POWER PLANT IN UKRAINE

Touchstone Capital Group (the U.K.) is interested in a project to build an offshore combined solar and wind power plant in Ukraine, the press service of Ukraine’s Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has reported after a meeting of profile specialists of the ministry with a delegation of the company. “At the meeting, representatives of the company presented a project for the offshore combined solar and wind power plant with a gigawatt power capacity, which is unique not only for Ukraine, but also for the nearest neighboring countries. Its additional advantage is the availability of its own balancing capacities, which will ensure a more even schedule of electricity production. The project also envisages the use of a significant (more than 30%) share of components of Ukrainian production,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said that it is important that the implementation of these large projects occur in accordance with the actual state and the plan for the development of the electricity transmission system, and does not lead to deterioration in the operational security of the country’s power grid.
In turn, representatives of Ukrenergo at the meeting reminded: 70-80% of the projects for the construction of “green generation” is being implemented in the southern region of Ukraine (Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions), which is energy-efficient and simultaneously lacks maneuvering capacities.
Touchstone Capital Group is engaged in property management, development of projects in the field of renewable energy. The group operates funds from Chinese and other international investors.

EKONAVTIKA COMPLETES BUILDING LPG STORAGE COMPLEX LOCATED IN ODESA REGION

Ekonavtika LLC by the end of this year will commission a complex for LPG storage and transshipment located in Izmail district of Odesa region. The press service of Odesa Regional State Administration said the second stage of construction is currently being completed. The amount of investment in the project was EUR 4 million. In addition to engineering and transport facilities for receiving and storing liquefied petroleum gas, the complex allows transshipping gas to road, rail and river transport. The total capacity of the complex is 200,000 tonnes per year.
The territory of the complex is equipped with access railway tracks, a railway overpass and a tank farm. There is also a customs warehouse in the territory of the complex.

KYIV STATE ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES TENDER FOR BUILDING WASTE TREATMENT PLANT

Kyivkomunservis has announced a tender to determine an executor of services for processing and burial of household waste in the capital, the press service of Kyiv City State Administration has said. According to the tender documentation on the website of the company, the minimum capacity of the processing enterprise should be 426,000 tonnes, while the annual volume of household waste produced in Kyiv is 1.2 million tonnes. The new waste processing plant should be located near the geographical center of the capital.
Participants in the tender should have experience in creating and operating waste recycling facilities. The winner of the tender will be obliged to provide waste treatment services for at least 25 years from the time the facility is put into operation. According to the administration, applications for participation in the competition will be accepted from August 28, 2018.
The first stage of the tender is the assessment of contestants’ complying with the qualifying conditions, it will begin in late September. The second stage involves evaluating proposals from participants in the competition. As reported, with reference to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the new waste processing plant in the capital is to be built within the next two or three years.

BUSINESSMAN KHMELNYTSKY’S UFUTURE INVESTS $18 MLN IN BUILDING 18 MW SOLAR PLANT

UDP Renewables, part of UFuture Group of Vasyl Khmelnytsky, has built a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 18 MW in Kherson region, the businessman said on his Facebook page. “UDP Renewables has built an 18 MW solar plant in Rykove (Kherson region). Considering the fact that the Kherson sun is much more efficient than in Kyiv, we plan to fully pay back the investment ($18 million) in five or six years. The station will be connected in a few months,” he wrote. Khmelnytsky added that during the construction of the solar plant, racks, cables and inverters of Ukrainian origin were used, while solar panels were imported from China. To build the station, according to the businessman, the territory of the former industrial zone, unusable for agriculture, was used.
As reported, earlier the group of Khmelnytsky built the first stage of a solar plant with a capacity of 6 MW in the village of Velyka Dymerka of Kyiv region. After the construction of the first stage, the group attracted Spanish-based Acciona Energia Global as a partner for the expansion of the project.
UFuture Investment Group, headquartered in Brussels, was established in autumn 2017 and united the business projects of Vasyl Khmelnytsky. The group includes the Ukrainian development company UDP, whose specialization is the implementation of large infrastructure projects. In addition, the conglomerate united businesses in such areas as UDP Renewables, the Bila Tserkva industrial park, the innovative parks UNIT.City, and LvivTech.City.

EBRD TO PROVIDE EUR 5.6 MLN FOR BUILDING SOLAR POWER PLANT

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) under the Ukraine Sustainable Energy Lending Facility (USELF) will provide a loan of EUR 5.6 million to Ekotechnik Shyroke LLC to build a solar power plant in Dnipropetrovsk region with the installed capacity of 7 MW, the press service of the EBRD has reported.
The ten-year loan is provided. According to the EBRD, the owners of Ekotechnik Shyroke LLC are Ekotechnik Group (the Czech Republic) and Tryba Energy (France). According to the unified public register, the beneficiaries of the company are Aleš Korostenský (the co-owner of Ekotechnik Group) and Ukrainians Yuriy Zasiadvovk and Bohdan Yevtushenko.

SMART MARITIME GROUP STARTS BUILDING TANKER HALL FOR DUTCH VEKA SHIPBUILDING

Smart Maritime Group (SMG) of Smart-Holding starts implementing a contract to build two chemical tanker hulls under an order of Dutch VEKA Shipbuilding WT B.V. The press service of SMG reported that the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the start of building the first hull for the Dutch customer was held at the Kherson Shipyard on Thursday. According to the contract signed in May, SMG will build hulls, install pipeline network, deck equipment and paint the tanker hulls. The cost of the contract is estimated at over UAH 145 million (some $5.6 million). It will take 11 months and a half to build one hull. The second tanker hull will be built at Mykolaiv Shipyard belonged to SMG.
“This is really an important event for Ukrainian shipbuilding, since it is the first foreign contract in the industry since 2013. We have made great efforts to convince the customer, to convince Ukrainian and European banks to finance this project. Today we have good prospects for work and the conclusion of new contracts,” the press service said, citing Director General of SMG Vasyl Fedin.
Tankers are designed for transportation of petroleum products and chemicals on the inland waterways of Europe. The vessel’s overall length is 110 m, width is 13.5 m, the height of the side is 6.59 m, the hull is 1200 tonnes, and the cargo capacity is 5,320 tonnes.
According to the press service, SMG and VEKA Group cooperate in the shipbuilding market for more than 10 years. During this period, SMG has built eight hulls for chemical tankers for VEKA. In total, 12 vessels of the same class were built for the Dutch market.
