Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) does not feel a decrease in passenger traffic due to information about the active spread of coronavirus, the airline’s press service has told Interfax-Ukraine.
“There are passengers with tickets for flights to Italy who requested to re-arrange their flights for later dates. We do this as an exception to a term of two months from the original date. But there are very few of them,” the press service said.
According to UIA, in total, there were 26 such requests through the airline’s Facebook page, of which five returns were issued, and 21 tickets were reissued for other dates.
At the same time, UIA does not currently plan to limit the flight program to Italy.
As reported, the Hungarian low cost airline Wizz Air reduces the number of flights to Italy from March 11 to April 2, 2020 due to a decrease in demand because of coronavirus.
The aviation authorities of Ukraine and Turkey have agreed to significantly expand regular flights, Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure has said.
“Based on the results of successful negotiations at the level of the aviation authorities of Ukraine and Turkey, regular flights with the Republic of Turkey were substantially expanded. The weekly frequency for passenger transportation on most routes was almost doubled. The limit on the number of flights was removed for the Odesa-Istanbul route. Cargo transportation is also without restrictions,” Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy said.
According to him, now 11 cities of Ukraine have the opportunity of direct air communication with Turkey, namely Kyiv, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zaporizhia.
“This is an impetus for the development of regional airports. Thanks to the State Aviation Administration for a good work. We are not resting on our laurels. We are confidently stepping west towards the Open Sky,” the minister said.
The minister also emphasized that the expansion of regular international and domestic flights to/from Ukrainian cities is an important part of the integrated development of the aviation industry in Ukraine.
“We liberalize international air transportation, modernize regional airports, create equal conditions for airlines to enter and develop a transparent and competitive market for passenger and cargo transportation by air,” Krykliy said.
Ernest Airlines from January 11 suspended all flights over the suspension of its license, the airline has reported on its website.
“Following the provision of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) of 29 December 2019 regarding the temporary suspension of our operating license, we find ourselves unable to operate flights as of 11.01.2020,” the airline said in a press release.
Ernest Airlines said that the license can be restored following the demonstration by Ernest S.p.A. to be in possession of the requirements prescribed by the current legislation on the matter and to obtain the revocation of the provision issued by ENAC.
“We have activated all the actions aimed at obtaining the revocation of the same provision, and we need time to provide all the necessary evidence as per Regulation (EC) n.1008 of 2008 to demonstrate our financial sustainability necessary for the resumption of our operation. We know that nor a simple apology, or just the reimbursement of the ticket, will be enough to remedy the problems caused, but I can assure you, that we all at Ernest Airlines are doing our best to assist all our passengers that have experienced delays or cancellations in this difficult moment,” the airline said.
The Lviv International Airport also posted information on the cancellation of the Rome-Lviv-Rome flight ERN237/238 on its Facebook page.
Earlier Ernest Airlines said that the airline blocked sales of transport contracts for all flights departing from January 13, 2020 over the suspension of the airline’s operating license.
Windrose Airlines for the summer navigation of 2020 will launch flights from Kyiv to Brindisi, Lamezia Terme and Ancona (all based in Italy).
According to the company’s press service, in particular, flights to Brindisi will be operated from May 30 to October 3, 2020 on Saturdays, flights to Lamezia Terme from May 29 to October 3, 2020 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and flights to Ancona from June 6 to September 19, 2020 on Saturdays.
The cost of tickets is from UAH 2,800.
As reported, the commission of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine decided to revoke the right of Windrose to fly from Kyiv to Istanbul on a regular basis three times a week.
Earlier, the State Aviation Service approved the application of the airline for charter flights from Kyiv to Odesa, Lviv, Kherson, Kharkiv and the Dnipro three times a week. The rights are valid until March 28, 2020.
Ernest Airlines suspends has blocked sales of transport contracts for all flights departing from January 13, 2020 over the suspension of the airline’s operating license under a decision of the National Civil Aviation Authority of Italy (ENAC).
According to a posting on the website of the airline, the license can be restored following the demonstration by Ernest S.p.A. to be in possession of the requirements prescribed by the current legislation on the matter and to obtain the revocation of the provision issued by ENAC.
The flights will be restored on the site as soon as the revocation of this provision is published.
Earlier Ernest Airlines suspended flights on the Kyiv-Genoa, Kharkiv-Rome and Kharkiv-Milan routes for the 2019/2020 winter navigation season.
Ernest Airlines plans to invest EUR 100 million in Ukraine in two years and to deploy two aircraft in Kyiv in 2020.
Windrose will open new regular flights from Ivano-Frankivsk to Kyiv (Boryspil), Dnipro and Otopeni (Romania) from December 27, 2019.
According to the company’s press service, flights will be operated on Mondays and Fridays on board Embraer 145 aircraft.
Departure from Ivano-Frankivsk to Kyiv is scheduled for 16:40, arrival for 17:50. The return flight’s departure from Kyiv is at 09:20, arrival at 10:40. The cost of a one-way ticket with baggage up to 23 kg is from UAH 2,100.
Departure from Ivano-Frankivsk to Dnipro is scheduled for 15:50, arrival for 17:10. The return flight’s departure from Dnipro is at 11:40, arrival at 13:15. The cost of a one-way ticket with baggage up to 23 kg is from UAH 2,700.
Departure from Ivano-Frankivsk to Otopeni is scheduled for 12:00, arrival at 13:15. Return: departure from Otopeni at 14:00, arrival at 15:30. The cost of a one-way ticket with baggage up to 23 kg is from UAH 2,500.
