Turkish Airlines in 2018 serviced over 800,000 passengers of own flights to/from Ukraine, which is 28% more than in 2017.
General Manager of the airline Dincer Sayici said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday that the number of transit passengers on international flights increased 25%. The total number of passengers traveling to/from Ukraine increased 14%.
The load factor for flights to and from Ukraine was 71%.
The most popular destinations are Istanbul, Phuket, Guangzhou, Antalya, Miami, Beijing, Maldives, New York and Barcelona.
“The freight traffic of the airline from Ukraine increased by 16% for exports, by 23% for imports compared with the figure for 2017,” Sayici said, without giving absolute figures.
According to him, Ukraine in 2018 took the seventh place in the number of tourists visiting Turkey, showing an increase of this flow by 10%.
In general, Turkish Airlines in 2018 increased the number of passengers carried by 10% compared with 2017, to 75.2 million people. The load factor rose by 1.1 percentage points, to 80.2%. For the year, the airline operated flights to 124 countries in 306 destinations.
Czech Airlines (the Czech Republic) will resume flights on the route Prague-Odesa-Prague from May 30, 2019, according to the website of Odesa International Airport. According to the press service of the airport, from May 30 Czech Airlines flights from Prague to Odesa will be operated twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. From June 17 a flight on Saturday will be added, and from July 1 on Wednesdays. The departure time is 22:45 local time. The travel time is 2 hours.
Aircraft from Odesa from May 30 will depart on Tuesdays and Fridays; from June 18 also on Sundays, and from July 2 on Thursdays. The departure time is 05:00 local time.

The Hungarian low cost carrier WizzAir in Ukraine plans to launch flights on two new directions – from Krakow (Poland) to Kyiv from April 5 and Kharkiv from September 16, 2019.
“Two new Airbus A321 aircraft will support the work of twelve new routes from Krakow to London, Kyiv, Bari, Catania, Larnaca, Nice, Turku, Billund, Doncaster, Kharkiv, Oslo, and Kutaisi,” the airline reported.
According to information on the company’s website, flights to Kyiv will begin from April 5, 2019, to Kharkiv from September 16, 2019. The schedule for both flights is available until October 25, 2019, prices start from UAH 609.
Kyiv-Krakow-Kyiv flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays (departure to Krakow at 18:15, back at 19:20 local time), Kharkiv-Krakow-Kharkiv flights on Mondays and Fridays (departure to Krakow at 17:45, back at 14:05 local time).
The Irish low cost air carrier Ryanair could start operating flights from Italy to Ukraine as early as 2019, chief commercial officer of the company David O’Brien has said at a conference at the Ministry of Infrastructure. “In Italy, we fly from Milan and Pisa. But the Italian government provided certain advantages to the airline, which has only two flights. We filed a lawsuit and won the case, so maybe we will also fly from Italy to Ukraine,” he said.
Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, in turn, noted that Ukraine plans to provide all the necessary support for the launch of flights by the Irish low cost airline on the direction Ukraine-Italy. “I believe that Ryanair will be able to fly from Italy next year,” the minister said.
He also said that the Ministry of Infrastructure had sent a corresponding letter to the Italian government, moreover, negotiations with the Italian Transport Minister were scheduled for the near future, during which Omelyan plans to raise the issue of planning flights in the Ukrainian direction.
Omelyan also noted that he expects the final settlement of Open Skies Agreement issues with the European Union in the first half of 2019.
Turkish Airlines from November 15, 2018 will increase frequency of the Istanbul-Kyiv-Istanbul flight by five, to 21 flights a week, and from February 18, 2019 – by three more, to 24 flights a week. Turkish Airlines in 2017 served more than 600,000 passengers on its own flights to/from Ukraine, which is 18% more than in 2016.
The flight schedule of Turkish Airlines in Ukraine covers Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhia, Kherson and Kharkiv.
Turkish Airlines (Türk Hava Yolları, THY) was established in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft. For today has an air fleet of 329 passenger and cargo aircraft.
SkyUp airline will launch regular flights from Kyiv to Tbilisi (Georgia) from December 27 this year, to Sofia (Bulgaria) from December 28, to Poprad (Slovakia) and Barcelona (Spain) from December 29.
“The first good news from SkyUp,” Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said on Facebook.
Tickets for flights to Tbilisi, Poprad and Barcelona in the booking system on the airline’s website are available until the end of March 2019, and to Sofia only until mid-January.
Flights to Tbilisi will be performed on Thursdays and Sundays (the minimum cost is from UAH 1,508), to the Tatras on Sundays and partially Thursdays (from UAH 954), to Barcelona on Wednesdays and Saturdays (from UAH 1,508), and to Sofia on Fridays (from UAH 1,329).
SkyUp Airline LLC was registered in Kyiv in June 2016. The founder of SkyUp was ACS-Ukraine LLC belonging to Tetiana Alba and Yuriy Alba, who also own JoinUp! tour operator.
The company began charter flights from the end of May 2018.
