UKRAINE INVITES FRENCH BUSINESS TO TAKE PART IN CONSTRUCTION AND PRIVATIZATION

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba during his working visit to France held a meeting of the business council with representatives of large and medium-sized French businesses, the press service of the ministry reports.
“In subsequent years, huge opportunities open up in Ukraine, in particular in the areas of construction, infrastructure and energy. The president of Ukraine and the government are committed to a large-scale renewal of Ukrainian infrastructure in order to create qualitatively new opportunities for the development of our country and international trade,” Kuleba said and invited French business to take part in two of the most attractive investment areas, namely the Big Construction program of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and large privatization.
Kuleba also clarified that this primarily concerns the construction and concession of roads and bridges, concession and privatization of ports, modernization of border infrastructure, projects for the electrification of public transport, the development of water supply systems, waste treatment, etc.
“This cooperation is not only beneficial, but has an important political significance for strengthening ties between Ukraine and France,” the minister stressed.
In addition, the parties paid special attention to the energy sector. Kuleba emphasized the potential of green hydrogen production in Ukraine and the synchronization of our state with the course of the European Green Deal, which opens up new opportunities in the field of renewable energy.
The minister also drew attention to the achievements of Ukraine in deregulation and simplification of doing business, the adoption and successful implementation of the new law on concessions, the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with the norms of the European Union. In addition, Kuleba recalled that the Council of Exporters and Investors constantly operates under the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, which helps investors find new opportunities.
It is noted that the top managers of a number of companies that are already working or are interested in implementing business projects in Ukraine took part in the council: Airbus, Air Liquide, Alstom, Crédit Agricole, Egis, RTE International, TOTAL Eren, Tryba Energy and others. The co-organizer is MEDEF International (Movement of Enterprises of France), which helps French companies establish international cooperation.

UKRAINE COUNTS ON CHINA’S CORONAVIRUS VACCINE

Ukraine is holding negotiations with China on the delivery of a coronavirus vaccine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
“[China says] that they stand ready to supply it. The Health Ministry has concrete information, and we are helping them now in order to facilitate certain contacts between representatives of the Health Ministry and representatives of the [vaccine] producer,” Kuleba told the Ukraine 24 TV channel on Thursday.

FOREIGN MINISTER OF UKRAINE TO VISIT TURKEY

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba will pay a visit to Turkey on July 3-4 to participate in the 8th meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Joint Strategic Planning Group along with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu. During the meeting, the parties will sum up the results of cooperation in the first half of 2020 and set priority tasks until the end of the year.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, the ministers will also discuss a wide range of issues related to mutual cooperation and regional security.
“Special attention will be focused on the militarization of Crimea, violation of human rights on the peninsula by the Russia-occupation authorities, the situation with security in the Azov and Black Sea region and in the Middle East, resistance to Russia’s aggression in Donbas and initiatives aimed at peaceful settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine,” the ministry said.
The ministers will also discuss the development of trade and investment between Ukraine and Turkey, deepening of cooperation in the spheres of energy, security and defense, the prospects of the completion of the negotiation process on the Free Trade Agreement, cooperation within the UN, NATO, OSCE and the Council of Europe. The officials will also discuss the preparations for the 9th meeting of the High Level Strategic Council chaired by the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey.
The ministers will give a joint press conference on the results of the meeting.
Kuleba will also hold a separate meeting between Ukrainian businesspeople and Turkish entrepreneurs, who are ready to invest in Ukraine.
He will also meet with representatives of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities in Turkey, the ministry said.

UKRAINIAN CITIZENS IN SOUTH AFRICA ASK FOREIGN MINISTER TO HELP THEM TO RETURN HOME

Ukrainians, who occurred in the South Republic of Africa during quarantine, have asked Foreign Minister of Ukraine to help them to return to the motherland. According to the submission letter, which is in disposal of Interfax-Ukraine, there are a woman with a chronic disease who needs prescribed medicine, seventh month pregnant woman, a woman with one year old child are among those who wish come back home.
“Most visas have expired long ago…The Ukrainian Embassy in South Africa provides us with as much information as possible, but nothing depends on them,” reads the letter.
Ukrainians ask to provide them guarantees for a speed returning home.
“We are ready to undergo self-isolation under the program Diy Vdoma. But first, we need to reach home. There are our compatriots in the neighboring African countries. Why can’t they grab us together all in all?,” reads the text of the letter.

FOREIGN MINISTER OF UKRAINE TO VISIT UNITED KINGDOM

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko will visit the United Kingdom on January 15-16, where he intends to meet with the foreign ministers of five countries whose citizens died as a result of the crash of the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) plane in Iran. “On January 15-16, 2020, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko will pay a working visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” the Foreign Ministry’s press service said on Wednesday.
It is noted that during the visit, Prystaiko will take part in the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden and Afghanistan in order to coordinate efforts to ensure a proper investigation of the circumstances of the UIA plane crash of PS 752 flight in Tehran.
