Global IT Spending to Reach $7.35 Trln in 2027, Study Finds

Global spending on information technology (IT) could grow by 15% in 2027 to reach approximately $7.35 trillion, according to a press release from research firm Gartner.

In 2026, growth is projected at 14.5%, reaching $6.39 trillion.

“Market forces are driving spending on artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, AI-enabled cloud platforms, and advanced software ecosystems, as these are the most attractive global segments,” says Gartner lead analyst John-David Lovelock. “The growth of the digital economy is increasingly driven not only by software adoption but also by the ability to finance, build, and monetize AI infrastructure on an unprecedented scale.”

Next year—just like this year—data center spending will show the most significant growth rates: 55.5%, following a 73.8% increase in 2026. Meanwhile, the software sector will take the top spot in terms of total spending, surpassing the IT services sector, according to Gartner analysts.
