Ukrainian Yuriy Zakhareev has won a gold medal at the European Boxing Championship among athletes under the age of 22, which takes place in Croatia.
“On March 23, the final bouts of the European U22 Boxing Championship took place in Croatia. Ukrainian Yuriy Zakhareev became the European champion in the weight category up to 71 kg. In the fight for the gold our boxer defeated an opponent from Wales, Garan Croft,” the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports said in a statement.
Earlier silver medals were won by Andriy Yefymovich (weight category up to 48 kg), Maksym Vlasiuk (weight category up to 60 kg) and Ivan Sapun (weight category up to 86 kg).
According to the results of the continental championship competitions, the Ukrainian boxing team won ten medals: two gold, three silver and five bronze.
Ukrainian Serhii Yemelianov has won gold medal in a single kayak rowing of class KL3 at 200 meters at the Paralympics in Tokyo.
“He wins by centimetres! Serhii Yemelianov from Ukraine takes ‘gold’ in the men’s KL3 final canoe, silver won by Leonid Krylov (Russia’s representative), bronze is awarded to Robert Oliver from the UK,” the message reads.
Emelianov covered the distance of 200 meters in 40.355 seconds. He was ahead of the Russian by 0.109 seconds.
Ukrainian swimmer Andriy Trusov has won another gold medal at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
“Andriy Trusov won the S7 men’s 50 meters freestyle,” the Paralympics said on Twitter.
The third place was taken, also by Ukrainian swimmer Yevhen Bohodaiko.
Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Zhan Beleniuk won the final bout in the up to 87 kg weight category at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and added the first gold medal to the Ukrainian team.
According to the official website of the Olympics, Beleniuk defeated Hungarian Viktor Lorincz with a score of 5:1.
This is the ninth medal in the overall standings of the Ukrainian team. The national team also has two silver medals and six bronze medals.
Ukraine has retained the zero quotas for exports of unprocessed gold and silver (apart from banking metals) and scrap precious metals and extended the licensing of exports of anthracite for 2020.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved resolution No. 1109 on December 24 and posted it on its website on December 27.
In addition, according to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, in 2020, exports and imports of the respective substances and goods will be licensed as previously.
